A Tom’s Guide feature published October 17, 2026, highlights seven entertainment-focused ChatGPT plugins: Spotify and Apple Music for playlists, Tubi and Flixor for movies and TV, GameFinder for video games, Emaqi for manga, and Chessy for guided chess practice. Their usefulness depends less on a one-line request than on the detail you provide: favorite artists, films, games or series, plus clear ranking and comparison criteria.
The prompts below are reusable templates. Replace the bracketed fields inside each code block with your own preferences and desired number of results. Plugin availability, supported ChatGPT plans, regional access and catalog data can change, so check what is currently offered in your account before relying on a particular tool.
How to get better results from entertainment plugins
- Give the tool a taste profile. List several favorites rather than naming only one. Artists, films, games and manga provide stronger signals when you include a mix of obvious favorites and unusual choices.
- Specify what “similar” means. Ask for atmosphere, storytelling, character development, pacing, combat, exploration, difficulty or energy flow instead of relying on genre labels alone.
- Request a ranked, explained output. A ranking tells you what to try first; a reason for each choice lets you reject recommendations that miss your taste.
- State constraints. For a movie night, say whether you want something fun or serious. For manga, request spoiler-free notes and publication status when available. For chess, identify your skill level and the kind of coaching you want.
Music discovery: Spotify and Apple Music
Spotify: turn artists and genres into a flowing playlist
The Spotify prompt asks for unfamiliar songs that still fit your preferences, with an explanation for every choice and an ordered listening flow. In the feature, this approach moved from Devin Morrison to Gareth Donkin rather than stopping at the most obvious matches.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Analyze my music taste and recommend [number] songs I probably haven't heard but will love. Focus on artists and genres that match my favorites, explain why each song fits, and organize the picks into a playlist with a great listening flow. [list favorite artists and genres]
Use a realistic number of tracks and name the artists or genres that define your taste. Asking for a listening flow is useful when you want the sequence to rise, relax and transition naturally instead of receiving an unstructured list.
#1 Best Overall
Apple Music: balance familiar tracks with discoveries
Apple Music uses a shorter brief focused on variety and pacing. The prompt explicitly asks for a blend of known songs and new finds while preventing repetitive sounds.
Create a [number]-song playlist inspired by my favorite artists: [list artists]. Include a mix of familiar songs and discoveries, avoid repetitive sounds, and arrange the tracks so the energy rises and falls naturally.
The feature’s examples combine Smino, Tiana Major9 and Clyde Crooks across rap and hip-hop, R&B and alternative music. Mixing artists from different but related areas gives the tool room to vary texture without abandoning your core taste.
Movie and TV night planning: Tubi and Flixor
Tubi: plan a free movie night around the mood
Tubi’s prompt is designed for a no-cost movie-night shortlist. It asks for titles available on Tubi, ranks them by entertainment value and separates a light, fun choice from a more serious one.
Plan a free movie night for me using movies available on Tubi. I like [genres, favorite films, or actors]. Give me [number] options, rank them by how entertaining they sound, and tell me which one is best for a fun night versus a serious movie night.
The feature names Hotel Artemis, Mayhem, Rolling Thunder and Crime Story as examples. Because streaming catalogs change by country and over time, confirm that a recommended title is still available in your region before planning the evening.
Flixor: match atmosphere and storytelling across services
Flixor looks beyond simple genre matching. Its prompt asks the tool to compare atmosphere, storytelling, character development and twists, then rank recommendations based on your actual favorites.
Recommend [number] movies or TV shows based on my favorites: [list titles]. Focus on similar atmosphere, storytelling, character development, and twists rather than just the same genre. Rank the recommendations and explain why each suits my taste.
The feature says Flixor surfaces content on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Hulu, and reports recommendations including Sicario, Perfect Blue, Dark and Black Lagoon. A recommendation can also point you toward a physical copy; Sicario Blu-ray is the named example. Check each service’s current catalog and edition before deciding where to watch or buy.
Rank #3
GameFinder: find games by the parts you actually enjoy
GameFinder asks you to describe the systems and tone you value, not merely the genre on a box. The prompt also requires underrated suggestions, which can push the results beyond the usual bestseller list.

Recommend [number] video games based on my favorite games: [list games]. Analyze what I enjoy about them, including combat, exploration, progression, atmosphere, story, and difficulty. Rank your recommendations by how likely I am to love them, and include at least five underrated picks.
The feature reports discoveries such as A Hat in Time, ULTRAKILL, Spark the Electric Jester and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. If difficulty matters, describe the level you enjoy; otherwise a tool may recommend a mechanically similar game that is far more demanding than your favorites.
Emaqi: mainstream and underrated manga without spoilers
Emaqi’s template makes the comparison criteria explicit and separates well-known recommendations from less-obvious ones. It also asks for completion status when that information is available, which helps readers decide whether they want a finished story or an ongoing series.
Rank #4
Recommend [number] manga based on my favorite series: [list series]. Compare their storytelling, artwork, characters, pacing, and worldbuilding. Give me five mainstream picks and seven underrated recommendations. Flag whether each series is complete or ongoing when that information is available, and avoid spoilers.
The feature names Psyren, Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai and O-Parts Hunter. Publication status can change or be unclear across editions and regions, so treat a “complete” or “ongoing” label as something to verify with the current publisher or retailer listing.
Chessy: learn by playing a competitive game
Chessy is an interactive opponent rather than a recommendation list. The prompt sets a beginner-friendly teaching style: you choose the moves, the tool explains its strategy in plain English, and every turn includes one positive observation and one warning.

Play a chess game with me. I'm a beginner, so let me choose my moves while you explain your strategy in plain English. After each of my moves, tell me one thing I did well and one mistake I should watch for. Keep the game competitive but educational.
This format turns each move into a small lesson while preserving a real game’s pressure. If the explanations become too advanced, add a sentence asking for algebraic notation only when needed and for a short explanation before any chess terminology.

What the feature does—and does not—establish
The seven tools are presented through a first-person feature, not a controlled test. There are no survey statistics, benchmark scores or formal accuracy measurements. The reported recommendations and usefulness reflect the author’s experience.
Plugin directory status, ChatGPT plan support, geographic availability, streaming catalogs, current game or manga editions and any affiliate or partner terms are not established. Verify those details at the time you use a prompt. Treat a recommendation as a starting point, then check ratings, content warnings, release status and where the title is legally available.
For the strongest first attempt, copy the template for the category you want, provide several genuine favorites, define the comparison criteria that matter to you and ask for a ranked result with reasons. That combination gives the tool enough context to discover something new without losing the taste that brought you there.
