You can explore Linux distributions through DistroSea in a web browser without installing them on your computer or booting from a USB drive. Its current catalog lists options including Ubuntu, Fedora Linux, Debian, Linux Mint, Arch Linux, and openSUSE. The browser trial is a way to preview different systems—not a test of how they would run on your own hardware.
What a browser-based Linux trial lets you do
DistroSea describes its service as a way to test Linux distributions online. A French public digital-resource listing describes the service as online virtual machines for trying Linux distributions, with no installation or live boot needed for the browser trial. In practical terms, you can open a listed distribution and explore its desktop through a browser rather than setting it up on your computer.
The catalog is broad and can change over time. It currently names Ubuntu, Fedora Linux, Debian, Linux Mint, Arch Linux, and openSUSE, among other distributions. That range is useful for getting a feel for how different Linux options present themselves, but it is not a fixed list or a guarantee that every option will always be available.

What the preview cannot tell you
A browser session does not establish how a distribution will behave on your own machine. The service description does not show that it reproduces your computer’s hardware, speed, peripherals, or everyday local workflow. Treat the experience as an exploratory preview, not a reliable benchmark or compatibility test.

- Intel Core i5-1335U Processor (12M Cache, 12 Threads, up to 4.6 GHz) - 256GB Solid State Drive - 16GB DDR4 SDRAM
- 15.6" FHD (1920x1080) Non-Touch Anti-Glare Display - Intel UHD 620 Integrated Graphics - Stereo Speakers
- 720p HD Webcam with Privacy Shutter. Integrated Microphone - Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC (2x2) 8265, Bluetooth Version 4.2
- I/O Ports: 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 3.1 Type-C 3.1, Headphone/Mic Combo Port, 4-in-1 Card Reader, HDMI, Kensington Mini-Lock Slot
- Linux Mint (Cinnamon) 64-Bit - Keyboard with Full NumberPad - Fast Charging
Nor does the available evidence establish which exact twelve distributions were tried, how they performed in individual sessions, or which is easiest for beginners. Without recorded observations under known conditions, claims about relative speed, usability, or performance would be speculation.
For a hands-on test on your own computer
If you want to try Linux on your hardware, a Live USB is a separate option. The Fedora Project’s Fedora Workstation download page identifies its current download as Fedora Workstation 44, released April 28, 2026, and says: “All you need is a 4GB USB flash drive and the Fedora Media Writer utility.” Fedora says the resulting Live version lets you boot Fedora and try it without making permanent changes to the computer.

- Intel Core i5-10210U (up to 4.2GHz) - 1TB PCIe NVMe + 1TB HDD - 32GB DDR4 SDRAM
- 17.3" HD+ (1600x900) Display, Intel UHD Graphics 620
- Built in HD 720p Webcam with Microphone - Bluetooth Version4.2
- I/O Ports: 2x USB 3.1 (Data Only), 1x USB 2.0, 1x HDMI, 1x Headphone/Microphone Combo Jack
- Linux Mint Cinnamon 64-Bit - 6-Row Keyboard w/ Full Numberpad
That 4GB recommendation is specific to Fedora’s instructions; it should not be assumed to apply to every distribution. A Live USB also differs from a browser preview: it boots the operating system on your computer, giving you a more relevant way to explore how it works with your hardware.
