Short answer: i-Ready processes student account, learning, usage, and technical information so schools can use its assessment and instruction platform. Curriculum Associates says schools control student records, it does not sell student data or use it for advertising, and it uses safeguards and restricted service providers. Those are the company’s statements, not a guarantee of zero risk or independent verification of every district’s setup. A lawsuit alleging improper collection and sharing remains unresolved; a reported ruling allowing some claims to proceed is not a finding that the allegations are true.
This overview concerns the United States and the i-Ready Platform. Curriculum Associates’ privacy policy was last updated July 17, 2026. Which products, fields, and services apply to a particular student can depend on the school’s choices, contract, and configuration.
What information does i-Ready collect about my child?
The policy describes Student Data broadly: information supplied by a school, parent, or student, as well as information generated or provided through student use. The company says schools use account details to create accounts, authenticate access, associate students with content, assign assessments, produce academic reports, and support administration and compliance.

|---|---|---|
| Account and school details | Name, date of birth, grade, school, and student ID | Schools provide account information; the specific fields depend on their setup. |
| Optional school or program fields | School email for single sign-on; demographic or program information such as English learner or disability status, or free- or reduced-price lunch eligibility | The company says most information is supplied at the school’s discretion and is not required to use i-Ready. This does not mean every school sends every listed field. |
| Learning and assessment information | Assessment results, lesson progress, and student responses | The products and features a school uses affect what information is generated or processed. |
| Usage information | Time spent, logins, and feature use | This is information generated as a student uses the platform, not just a field entered when an account is created. |
| Limited technical information | Device and browser information | The policy and FAQ describe technical information, but a parent should ask the district what its particular configuration collects. |
The platform includes assessment, personalized instruction, curriculum, reporting, and related educator products; not every school uses every component. The policy also describes additional categories associated with particular features, so this table is illustrative rather than a complete list for every configuration.

Curriculum Associates says i-Ready does not collect health or biometric data, student mailing addresses or phone numbers, personal email addresses, or social-media or personal-profile information. That statement is limited to those named categories; it does not mean the platform collects no personal, learning, or usage data.
Does i-Ready sell student data or use it for advertising?
Curriculum Associates says it does not sell student data and does not use it for advertising or commercial profiles. It also says service providers authorized by schools are bound by confidentiality and security obligations. These are the company’s representations; they should not be mistaken for an independent audit of a particular district’s data flows.
Does i-Ready send student data to Google?
Curriculum Associates says Google Analytics 4 is used in the student dashboard as a service provider, so the accurate answer is not that nothing is sent to Google. The company says the identifiers transmitted are internal UUIDs that are not meaningful outside its systems and cannot be used by Google to identify an individual student. It also says Google may process the analytics only to provide the service. These explanations are the company’s position, not independent technical findings.

Ask the district which analytics and other service providers are enabled under its agreement and configuration. A company-wide FAQ cannot establish exactly what a particular student’s district has enabled.
Who controls a student’s i-Ready records?
Curriculum Associates says that, when a school implements the platform, it acts as a FERPA “School Official” with an educational interest and remains under the school customer’s direct control regarding use and maintenance of Student Data and Education Records. The company also describes itself as a COPPA service provider or operator, says school agreements govern processing, and states that the school customer remains the owner of Student Data. These are descriptions of the company’s role and policy; the contract and applicable law matter to an individual school’s arrangement.
Can I see, correct, or delete my child’s i-Ready data?
The company’s policy says parents and eligible students can request information about the categories of personal information collected, deletion of the student’s personal information, or cessation of collection. It directs parents to the student’s school. Curriculum Associates says it does not act on a parent’s direct deletion request unless the school directs it to do so, and that it helps schools respond. The policy warns that removing information integral to the service could cause the student to lose access.

What security protections does the policy describe?

A putative class action brought by K–12 plaintiffs against Curriculum Associates was filed on December 22, 2025, according to the EdTech Law Center’s case page. Plaintiffs allege that information was generated, collected, used, and shared without proper consent, including claims concerning student interaction data and outside services. The complaint lists claims under federal and state privacy laws and common-law theories; allegations are not adjudicated facts.

Curriculum Associates says it disputes the case and is defending itself. Its position is that its identifiers do not personally identify students to Google and that analytics are processed to provide the service. The plaintiffs’ allegations, the company’s response, and the reported procedural ruling are distinct; none amounts to a final decision on the merits.
What should parents take away?
i-Ready is a school-used platform that handles more than test results: its described data includes account details, learning records, student responses, usage, and limited technical information. The company says the school controls student records, it does not sell or advertise using student data, and it applies security safeguards. For a child’s actual data fields, analytics configuration, and available request process, the district is the practical point of contact. The unresolved lawsuit is a reason to distinguish company assurances from adjudicated facts—not a basis to treat the allegations as proven.
