A phone-mounted pocket toolbox is practical, but only if the holder is designed around your exact phone case and the tools you actually use. A six-slot layout can cover common fixes with a multitool, pliers, flashlight, measuring tool and driver or socket capability, while keeping the kit organized and immediately accessible. The project below explains how to plan that layout, what existing designs establish, and where you must supply your own measurements before copying it.
What the six-tool phone toolbox is trying to solve
Loose everyday-carry tools disappear into a pocket, rattle against a phone and are difficult to reach one-handed. A dedicated organizer fixes the organization problem by giving each item a defined slot and placing the kit where you already reach for your phone. The trade-off is added thickness, weight, snag risk and the possibility that a failed attachment could drop both the phone and the tools.
The six-tool target should describe six useful positions, not six novelty gadgets. A sensible allocation is:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
| Slot | Tool type | Typical jobs |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Compact multitool | Screwdriving, cutting, opening packages and small adjustments |
| 2 | Compact pliers | Gripping, bending and holding small parts |
| 3 | Pocket flashlight | Finding fasteners, cables and dropped parts |
| 4 | Measuring tool | Quick length checks and fit checks |
| 5 | Driver or bit capability | Common screws that the multitool cannot reach |
| 6 | Small socket set or card-sized tool | Hex or nut fasteners in a compact form |
This is a coverage plan, not a claim that every reader needs these exact items. Carry the tools that match recurring tasks in your work, commute or hobby.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
What existing organizer designs show
Printable holders can combine phone and pocket gear
Morley A. Kert’s “3D Printed EDC Holders” collection provides STL, 3MF and Fusion 360 files for holders for a phone, pocket flashlight, six-foot tape measure, Leatherman Skeletool, Victorinox Climber, glasses, receipts and a wallet. Its mounting holes are specified for #6 wood screws. That demonstrates the basic concept: the phone can be part of a modular organizer rather than merely a surface to which tools are stuck.
A six-socket insert can concentrate fastening capability
An Etsy maker’s PETG attachment for the Harbor Freight ICON mini ratchet case is designed for six sockets: 14 mm, 13 mm, 12 mm, 10 mm, 8 mm and 7 mm. The attachment also holds an Olight I3T 2 EOS flashlight and Knipex Cobra XS pliers (model 8700100). The six-socket count is a design specification from the listing, not an independently verified durability test.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Custom pocket organizers work without a phone mount
Urban Knife Guy’s DIY organizer was designed around a 58 mm Victorinox Classic, Olight IR2, Gerber Dime keychain multitool and a credit-card-sized tool. The organizer is intended for a pants pocket, pouch or handbag and can be custom-tailored. This matters because a phone attachment is optional: the same slot-planning logic can produce a pouch-based kit with less risk to the phone.
One tool can replace several functions
MetMo describes its Pocket Grip as a six-in-one tool with locking-wrench, clamp, pliers, hex-driver, tap and snipper functions. A multifunction tool may reduce the number of slots, but its claimed function count is a product description rather than an independent performance measurement. Check whether its actual jaws, driver reach and grip suit your tasks before giving it a permanent slot.

How to design the phone attachment
- Measure the phone and case together. Record the case’s outside length, width, corner radii, camera-bump clearance and the thickness at the intended attachment area. Measure with the case installed; a bare-phone fit is not a case fit.
- Choose the attachment surface. A back-mounted plate, a side rail or a removable clip each changes balance and access. Keep the camera lenses, wireless-charging area, buttons and charging port clear.
- Set a thickness and weight limit. Place the heaviest tool nearest the phone’s center of mass, and keep sharp edges or exposed blades facing inward or behind a positive cover. If the loaded phone no longer fits comfortably in the pocket, reduce tool size before adding slots.
- Model the six pockets around real tools. Measure each tool at its widest and thickest points, then add enough clearance for insertion without rattling. Do not assume a slot sized for one flashlight, socket or multitool will fit another model.
- Add retention and a failure path. Use a lip, strap, latch or screw-mounted plate that prevents tools from sliding out when the phone is inverted. Decide what happens if the mount cracks: a tether or separate pocket can keep the phone from falling with the organizer.
- Prototype before final fabrication. Print or cut a low-cost test piece, install the actual case and tools, and check camera access, charging, pocket draw and one-handed removal. Revise the model before committing to a stronger or more expensive material.
3D printing versus a bought insert or pouch
| Approach | Advantages | Costs and risks |
|---|---|---|
| Custom 3D-printed holder | Exact tool pockets, replaceable modules and a phone-specific shape | Print time, material cost, fit iterations and uncertain strength around screw holes |
| Mini-ratchet case insert | Ready-made case ecosystem and defined socket positions | May not fit your phone case; dimensions and retention depend on the specific listing and tools |
| Ordinary pouch | Fast to buy, inexpensive to replace and isolated from the phone | Slower access and less rigid organization |
| Single multitool | Smallest setup and no attachment hardware | Limited reach, light output, measuring ability and socket coverage |
Printable files trade purchase cost for fabrication work. Kert’s files are a useful starting point, but they do not establish that any particular phone case, printer or material will fit without modification.
Safety and everyday-use checks
- Attachment security: Pull and twist the loaded organizer by hand before carrying it over a hard floor. Inspect screws, clips and printed layers for cracking.
- Phone compatibility: Confirm that the mount does not block wireless charging, cameras, buttons, speakers or the charging cable.
- Carry comfort: Sit, walk and enter a vehicle with the loaded phone. A nominally compact kit that digs into your leg will be abandoned.
- Blade and snag control: Cover blades and catch protruding clips or socket edges so they cannot damage clothing or skin.
- Maintenance: Popular EDC recommends carrying a chosen setup for seven days, removing items that were not used, and checking batteries or consumables monthly.
How to decide whether six tools is enough
Carry the prototype for seven consecutive days and record every task for which you wanted a tool. Remove unused items, then add only a tool that solves a repeated problem. If the same socket or driver is used repeatedly, reserve a dedicated slot; if a tool never leaves its pocket, replace it with a smaller option or eliminate the slot.

- [360 ° Flexible Rotation Design] Comes with a rotatable lanyard ring that supports 360 ° free rotation, effectively solving the problem of twisted and tangled lanyards
- [Wide compatibility] The ultra-thin 0.02-inch design does not block the charging port at all, and both wired and wireless charging can be used directly without removing the pad. Compatible with most smartphones such as iPhone, compatible with various wristbands, lanyards, crossbody straps, and keychains
- [Durable and Portable Material] Premium rust-resistant stainless steel material with good flexibility, which not only avoids scratching the phone case, but also has excellent anti rust and anti fading performance
- [Multi scenario Practical] Paired with a lanyard or wristband, hands-free use can be achieved. The phone is within reach and not easily dropped, ideal for daily commuting and outdoor activities. Suitable for full coverage phone cases, does not support half coverage phone cases
- [Quality Service] If you find any damage or other issues with the product upon receipt, please contact us immediately. We will handle it quickly
The phone-mounted version is worthwhile when immediate access and organization matter more than minimum thickness, and when you can verify the attachment on your exact case. A pouch or ordinary multitool is the safer choice when the phone is expensive, the tools are heavy, or you need a kit that can be handed to someone else without taking the phone along.
What is still specific to this build
The available descriptions establish the concept, compatible tool examples and socket capacities, but not this project’s final dimensions, material, print settings or attachment hardware. Those measurements must come from the finished build: publish the phone-and-case dimensions, loaded thickness and weight, fastener specification, clearances and photographs if readers are expected to reproduce it reliably.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will any phone case fit a phone-mounted EDC holder?
No. Measure the outside dimensions, corner shape, camera bump and attachment area with your specific case installed, then prototype the fit before carrying tools.
Is a six-socket insert the same as a six-tool kit?
No. The documented insert holds six socket sizes—14, 13, 12, 10, 8 and 7 mm—and also accommodates a flashlight and pliers. Those are design capacities, not a universal six-tool standard.
Should I attach the organizer directly to my phone?
Only if the mount clears cameras, charging and buttons and has positive retention. A pouch keeps tool loads separate and is easier to replace if the attachment fails.
