These values come from the official Steam listing. “Minimum” means the developer has identified a baseline configuration, not that every computer at that baseline has been measured at a particular frame rate.

- Confirm Windows. Open Settings → System → About and check that the edition is Windows 10. Record the version as well, because the listing does not state which build was used for testing.
- Check processor architecture. In the same About page, look at System type. An x64-based processor matches the published x86_64 architecture. If Windows reports an ARM-based system, the Steam requirement does not explicitly cover it.
- Check installed memory. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, open Task Manager → Performance → Memory, and verify that the total is at least 2 GB. Close unnecessary programs before launching a playtest, particularly on a low-memory machine.
- Identify the graphics adapter. Open Device Manager → Display adapters and note the exact integrated or discrete GPU name. The Steam entry does not list models, so the name alone cannot predict performance.
- Verify Vulkan 1.0 support. Check the GPU manufacturer’s specifications and install the current driver offered for your exact adapter and Windows version. Look specifically for Vulkan 1.0 support, not merely DirectX support. If the manufacturer does not document Vulkan for that adapter, the published minimum has not been demonstrated.
- Check free space. In File Explorer, right-click the destination drive, choose Properties, and confirm substantially more than 400 MB is free. Leave room for Steam’s temporary files and future updates.
If one check fails, the appropriate conclusion is “does not match the published minimum,” not that a particular upgrade will definitely solve the problem. The game has no published recommended tier to guide a larger hardware purchase.

What is known about graphics settings?
The official listing does not document a graphics menu, named quality presets, resolution controls, frame-rate options, V-sync behavior, upscaling, or configuration-file instructions. It also provides no benchmark results. Therefore, there is no verified I Am Plague settings recipe that can promise smoother performance. Advice such as “use Low,” “disable shadows,” or “cap the game at 60 FPS” would be general PC troubleshooting, not developer-confirmed guidance for this title.
A later build may expose some of those controls. When it does, rely first on the labels and documentation shipped with that build. Record the original values before changing anything so you can restore them, and change one option at a time while observing whether the symptom improves.

A cautious workflow for smoother performance
The steps below are broadly applicable to a Windows playtest, but they are not settings endorsed by the developer. They help separate a compatibility problem from a graphics-load problem without assuming that the game has a particular menu.
1. Establish a clean baseline
- Restart Windows before testing so stalled launchers and background processes are cleared.
- Close browsers, recording tools, virtual machines, and other programs that consume memory or GPU time.
- Connect a laptop to AC power and select the normal or high-performance Windows power mode if battery-saving behavior is limiting clocks.
- Run the game at its default configuration first. Write down the symptom: failure to start, Vulkan error, stutter, low average frame rate, or periodic pauses.
2. Refresh the graphics path
Install the current graphics driver supplied for your exact adapter and reboot. Confirm that the adapter shown in Device Manager is the one the game is using; laptops can expose both integrated and discrete adapters. Do not assume that installing a driver automatically proves Vulkan support—the manufacturer’s specification or a successful launch is still the relevant check.

If the playtest includes resolution, render scale, effects, shadows, or frame-rate controls, lower one visually expensive option at a time and test the same scene. Lowering output resolution generally reduces GPU work; reducing effects or shadows can help when those options are present. Because no official menu has been published, the exact names and ranges may differ, and some builds may expose none of these controls.

4. Watch for the limiting resource
Task Manager’s Performance view can show whether memory, CPU, GPU, or disk activity spikes when the problem occurs. A memory graph that stays nearly full points to background applications or paging; a GPU graph near its limit suggests rendering load; a CPU spike during automatic combat may indicate simulation work. These observations diagnose your PC; they are not game benchmarks and should not be presented as official performance data.
Troubleshooting common failure modes
The game will not start or reports a Vulkan problem
- Confirm that the display adapter is enabled in Device Manager and that its driver is current.
- Recheck the manufacturer’s Vulkan 1.0 support statement for the exact model.
- Restart after a driver installation and launch again.
- If the adapter lacks Vulkan support, the system does not satisfy the published graphics minimum; changing an in-game quality slider cannot fix that incompatibility.
It launches but stutters
- Repeat the test after closing background applications and connecting the laptop to AC power.
- Observe whether memory is exhausted or whether GPU utilization remains high.
- If a resolution or effects control exists, reduce only one setting and retest the same activity.
- Keep notes about the build number and exact hardware so a reproducible issue can be reported through the channel provided with the playtest.
Installation or updating fails
Free more than the listed 400 MB, then retry. Steam may need temporary working space beyond the final installed size, and an update can require both the old and new data during replacement. The listing does not publish a larger reserve, so maintaining comfortable free space is a practical precaution rather than a stated requirement.
Planned content is not a performance specification
The store description says the planned full game will include more than 200 dungeon floors and more than 50 mutations. Those figures describe expected content—choosing mutations, combining their effects, upgrading the horde between runs, and selecting branching routes—not a GPU, CPU, or memory benchmark. A larger number of floors does not by itself establish that the game needs more RAM, and the listing gives no technical scaling information for late-game runs.
When to recheck the requirements
Because the full release is planned for 2027, requirements and settings may change before launch. Revisit the official Steam page when the release date approaches, after a major playtest update, and before troubleshooting a new build. Look for a newly added recommended tier, a support article, driver notes, graphics-menu documentation, or benchmark information. Until one of those appears, keep the distinction clear: the published minimum is a compatibility checklist, while smooth performance remains unverified for any particular PC.
