An analog connection sends the headset’s audio and microphone signal through the device’s headset jack. There is no separate USB processing stage to configure. That can be useful with a controller, handheld, laptop, or console where a single 3.5 mm jack is the most convenient option. It also means the host device—not a headset USB application—handles much of the audio behavior.

Check the port before buying
“Broad platform support” does not mean every cable works with every setup. Confirm whether your PC has a combined headset jack or separate headphone and microphone sockets, and check how your console or controller exposes its headset port. If your computer uses separate sockets, you may need the appropriate splitter. Verify the exact Nova 1 variant and included cable rather than assuming every retail package is identical.
Microphone and comfort expectations

On a console, the desktop application and its saved or live processing controls should not be assumed to work as they do on Windows.
Microphone performance and limitations
RTINGS reports that the microphone records clearly and filters background noise well. That is useful for voice chat in a moderately busy room, but it does not make every environment silent. Keyboard noise, nearby conversations, fan noise, and room reflections can still affect the result. Place the boom consistently near the corner of your mouth and use the lowest processing strength that removes unwanted noise without making speech sound artificial.
Sound and isolation
RTINGS also notes that sound is not fully consistent and that noise isolation is limited. “Limited isolation” means outside sound may remain audible and some game audio can be less sealed-in than expected from a closed-back headset. The same vents create the central compromise: sound leaks out and environmental noise leaks in. Someone sitting nearby may hear your game, and a fan, conversation, or traffic can mask quiet details. Open-back is therefore a room-dependent choice, not an automatic upgrade over a closed-back headset.

SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro

Choose by connection before comparing sound
3.5 mm analog
Analog is usually the least complicated path: connect the headset to the device’s headset jack and select it as the input and output. USB

- Check whether the headset connects directly to the console, controller, or both.
- Confirm whether your controller has a combined 3.5 mm headset jack.
- If you play on PC, check for a combined jack or plan for a splitter when the machine has separate audio and microphone ports.
- For USB models, verify the console’s supported USB port and whether chat functions are available through that connection.
- Do not assume a PC software feature, equalizer, or microphone effect will be available on a console.
Microphone features: detachable, retractable, and software-processed

Software processing can add equalization, compression, noise reduction, and saved profiles. It is valuable only when your platform supports the software path and you are willing to tune it. Start with a natural voice profile, record a short sample, and ask a teammate whether consonants remain clear. Excessive noise gating can cut off the beginning or end of words, while aggressive noise suppression can make speech sound metallic.

Pad material, seal, glasses, and head shape can alter these effects. A closed-back headset that does not seal around your glasses may isolate less than expected, while an open-back model may be comfortable precisely because it does not build heat and pressure in the same way.
Fit and comfort: a practical test
Comfort cannot be inferred from a specification sheet. During the return period, wear the headset for at least an hour with your normal glasses, posture, and game.
