Updated 16 October 2026: The strongest expert-backed choices in this roundup are Sony’s WH-CH720N for a current headphone deals shortlist, Sony’s Bravia 8 II as the current What Hi-Fi? OLED Product of the Year, and Cambridge Audio’s MXN10 as a flexible music streamer. Sale prices, stock, model names and included warranties vary by country, so recheck the retailer listing immediately before paying.

What this guide recommends

These are not three interchangeable types of purchase. Wireless headphones are judged primarily on comfort, noise cancellation and device compatibility; an OLED TV depends on room conditions, picture processing and gaming connections; a music streamer needs to fit the inputs and services already in your audio system.

Best wireless headphones: what to check in the Sony WH-CH720N deal

Why it is on the shortlist

What Hi-Fi?’s 9 October 2026 deals roundup names the Sony WH-CH720N as a wireless-headphone deal candidate. That makes it a sensible starting point when a sale listing is available, but the roundup does not establish one permanent price or discount. Treat any percentage saving as time- and region-dependent rather than a guaranteed value.

Use these six checks

  1. Discount: Compare the current price with the seller’s normal price, confirm whether the promotion has an end date and check whether the model is new, refurbished or open-box.
  2. Comfort: Look for return terms that allow a fit check. Clamp force, ear-pad depth, headband pressure and heat matter more than a low sticker price during long listening sessions.
  3. Noise cancellation: Decide whether you need attenuation for aircraft and trains or mainly for office noise. Read the current product specification for the available ambient or transparency modes in your region.
  4. Battery life: Verify the stated runtime for the selected operating mode. Active noise cancellation, calls and high volume can reduce real-world endurance.
  5. Codecs and devices: Confirm Bluetooth compatibility with every source you intend to use, especially a television, game console, phone and computer. Codec support can differ between hardware and operating systems.
  6. Returns and warranty: Check who handles defects, how long the warranty lasts in your country and whether a sale item has a restricted return window.

How much confidence should you place in review coverage?

RTINGS’ 2026 headphone guide puts the category in perspective with the figure “over 910 pairs tested.” That broad test set is useful context: one attractive deal should still be weighed against comfort, isolation and compatibility evidence, not judged by price alone.

Best OLED TV: Sony Bravia 8 II versus the LG C5 comparison point

Sony Bravia 8 II: the award-backed choice

What Hi-Fi? currently names the Sony Bravia 8 II its OLED Product of the Year. For a buyer who wants a clearly identified best OLED TV recommendation, that award status is the most direct signal in the current guide. Confirm the exact screen size and regional model number before ordering, because features and bundled accessories can vary.

LG C5: why the guide mentions it

The same OLED coverage reports five-star testing for the LG C5 and highlights four HDMI 2.1 inputs. Four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 connections can simplify a setup with several current consoles, a gaming PC and an eARC sound system, but verify the ports and bandwidth on the regional specification sheet rather than assuming every size is identical.

Match the panel to your room and equipment

  • Brightness and reflections: In a sunlit room, compare the model’s measured or stated HDR performance and screen treatment with your viewing position. In a dark room, shadow detail and near-black uniformity may matter more.
  • Motion: Sports and film viewers should check motion-processing settings and review comments for the content they watch most. Disable or reduce smoothing if you prefer a cinema-like presentation.
  • HDR sources: List the formats used by your streaming services, console and disc player, then confirm support on the exact regional model.
  • Gaming: Count the HDMI 2.1 connections you actually need, and verify variable-refresh-rate, automatic low-latency and 4K high-frame-rate support for your devices.
  • Delivery and ownership: OLED panels are thin and vulnerable to handling damage. Read the retailer’s inspection, dead-pixel, collection and return procedures before accepting delivery, and record the panel’s condition during unboxing.

Music streamer: where the Cambridge Audio MXN10 fits

Services and connections

The Cambridge Audio MXN10 is a concrete music streamer option for an existing hi-fi system. Its documented ecosystem includes Chromecast, AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Tidal, Deezer, Qobuz, internet radio and Bluetooth 5.0. That combination covers phone casting, direct service control and Bluetooth fallback without requiring a separate box for each service.

Check the rest of the signal chain

  1. Identify the job: A streamer is a source component, not automatically a complete amplifier. Decide whether it will feed powered speakers, an integrated amplifier, an AV receiver or a separate DAC.
  2. Confirm outputs: Match the MXN10’s available outputs to the amplifier or DAC inputs you own. If your system has only a specific digital or analogue connection, verify the current product sheet before purchase.
  3. Check network coverage: Place the unit where Wi-Fi is reliable, or plan a wired connection if your network and the model support it. Poor wireless coverage can look like an app or service fault.
  4. Audit your services: Confirm that every subscription you pay for appears in the current app and that account-control features meet your needs. Service catalogues and regional availability can change.
  5. Plan local playback: If you keep music on a computer or network drive, check the current documentation for supported local-network protocols and file formats rather than assuming that every service listed above covers local files.
  6. Consider upgrades: Leave room for a future DAC, amplifier or speaker change. A network audio player is most useful when it can remain the digital source as the rest of the system evolves.

An award is a useful editorial filter, not a promise that every model suits every room, head shape, network or amplifier. Use the award to create a shortlist, then apply the practical checks above and confirm the current regional listing.
