On a Huawei phone, press Power and Volume down at the same time to take a screenshot. Huawei also documents a Screenshot shortcut in Control Panel. The exact model called “Huawei A12” could not be verified in Huawei’s support instructions, so gesture options and menu names may differ or be unavailable on your device.
Take a screenshot with the buttons
- Open the screen you want to capture.
- Press the Power and Volume down buttons simultaneously. Huawei documents this as a screenshot shortcut. See Huawei’s screenshot instructions.
- When the screenshot preview appears, tap it to edit, delete or share the image.
Huawei says screenshots are saved to Gallery by default. The standard button combination is also the common Android method. Google’s Android screenshot help suggests contacting the device manufacturer if the usual method does not work.
Use Huawei Control Panel instead
- Swipe down from the upper-right edge of the screen to open Control Panel.
- If necessary, expand the shortcut switches.
- Tap Screenshot.
Huawei notes that interface details vary by model, so the shortcut may not appear in the same place—or may not be available—on every phone. Huawei’s instructions cover this option.

Some Huawei phones offer a three-finger swipe, but you may need to enable it first. Look for a screenshot gesture under Settings > Accessibility features > Shortcuts & gestures > Take screenshot, or under a model-dependent Motion control menu. If the setting exists, enable it, then swipe down across the screen with three fingers.

These labels and the gesture itself are not guaranteed on a phone identified only as “Huawei A12.” Huawei’s general instructions describe the feature but do not establish its availability on that exact model.
Capture a scrolling page with Scrollshot
If your phone offers Scrollshot, take a screenshot and choose Scrollshot from the preview to continue capturing content beyond the visible screen. Huawei describes this as a device-dependent feature; the option may not appear on every model. Its support instructions also describe knuckle-based screenshots and capturing an individual window or all current windows on supported split-screen or floating-window setups. Check Huawei’s feature guidance for the options your device may provide.

If the screenshot shortcut does not work
- Make sure you are pressing Power and Volume down together, rather than holding one button substantially earlier than the other.
- As a general Android fallback, hold Power for a few seconds and tap Screenshot if that option appears. Google notes that the option can vary and advises contacting the manufacturer when the standard method fails. This fallback is not confirmed for an unspecified Huawei A12 model. Google Android Help.
- Check your phone’s exact model and software version before following a model-specific gesture or menu path. “Huawei A12” is not identified as an exact handset in the Huawei support instructions cited here.
Once captured, look in Gallery for the screenshot; use its preview for editing or sharing when available.
