Verdict at launch: The HP OmniBook Ultra 16 is a premium 16-inch Windows laptop aimed at local AI, creative work, development and gaming. Its standout specification is an NVIDIA RTX Spark platform paired with a 3K OLED touchscreen, up to 128GB of onboard memory and a 99Wh battery. It looks compelling on paper, but this October 15, 2026 announcement is still a launch-stage first look: independent hands-on testing, benchmark results and verified street pricing were not established.
What the HP OmniBook Ultra 16 is
HP positions the OmniBook Ultra 16 AI PC for creators, developers, entrepreneurs, gamers and users who want to run AI workloads locally rather than sending every task to a cloud service. The design combines a large OLED touch display, high-capacity onboard memory and NVIDIA RTX Spark processing in a relatively thin premium chassis. HP Japan calls it “the world’s thinnest laptop equipped with RTX Spark,” a claim that should be read as HP’s own launch statement rather than an independently verified measurement.
The exact product you can buy depends on country and configuration. HP’s support documentation identifies the 16-bk0000 family and warns that components and features vary by region and custom order, so comparisons should use a complete SKU rather than the family name alone.
Key specifications
| Component | Launch information |
|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 11 Home on the US-listed model |
| Processor and graphics | NVIDIA RTX Spark N1X with an 18-core CPU and 5,120-core GPU on HP’s US product page |
| Memory | 32GB, 64GB or 128GB onboard LPDDR5x-9400, depending on configuration |
| Storage | 1TB or 2TB PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD, depending on configuration |
| Display | 16-inch 3K OLED touchscreen, 2,880 × 1,800 pixels, up to 120Hz, 0.2ms response time, 500-nit SDR brightness, 1,100-nit HDR brightness and 100% DCI-P3 coverage |
| Wireless | Wi-Fi 7 listed for the support family |
| Camera and audio | 5MP IR camera and quad speakers |
| Battery | 99Wh |
HP lists the memory as onboard. It does not describe it as user-upgradeable, so buyers should choose capacity for the laptop’s expected lifespan rather than assuming a later RAM upgrade. The same caution applies to storage: HP lists 1TB and 2TB options, but the availability of a user-replaceable drive is not established in the launch material.

The 3K OLED display is the headline feature
The panel combines a 2,880 × 1,800 resolution with OLED contrast, touch input and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. HP specifies a 0.2ms response time, 500 nits for SDR content, up to 1,100 nits in HDR and full DCI-P3 coverage. That combination should suit photo and video work, media consumption and games that can use a high refresh rate. Actual HDR behavior, color accuracy, brightness consistency and battery impact still require independent measurement.
RTX Spark and local AI: what is established
The OmniBook Ultra 16 is built around NVIDIA RTX Spark processors and is marketed for local AI performance. In practical terms, that means the laptop is intended to run compatible AI tools on its own hardware, potentially reducing reliance on an internet connection and cloud processing. The useful experience will depend on software support, model size, memory allocation, drivers and thermal limits; the launch information does not provide measured AI throughput or a supported-model list.

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
For creators and developers, the 32GB-to-128GB memory range is significant because larger datasets, code projects, image-generation workflows and virtual machines can consume system memory quickly. The 128GB/2TB configuration is the most expansive listed option, but it also carries the highest regional price disclosed so far.

HP Japan rates the 99Wh battery for up to 17 hours of continuous FHD-video playback in HP’s own test. HP also claims up to 50% charge in 30 minutes when the laptop is shut down and charged with an HP adapter under the stated conditions. These are manufacturer test claims, not independent endurance results. Runtime will vary with the selected processor and memory configuration, display brightness and refresh rate, wireless activity, application load and battery age. Gaming, local AI inference and sustained rendering should be expected to produce shorter runtimes than video playback.

- Creators: The high-resolution OLED touchscreen, wide-gamut coverage, fast refresh rate and large memory options target demanding image, video and 3D workflows.
- Developers and AI users: RTX Spark hardware and up to 128GB of onboard memory are suited to experimenting with local models and memory-heavy development environments, subject to software compatibility.
- Gamers: The 120Hz OLED panel and dedicated RTX Spark GPU are promising for gaming, although game performance, thermals and fan noise have not yet been independently measured.
- Mobile professionals: The 99Wh battery and HP’s video-playback claim are attractive, but real workday endurance remains unverified.
Questions to resolve before buying
- Confirm the exact regional SKU, because CPU, memory, storage, wireless features and included software can vary.
- Choose RAM capacity carefully; the listed memory is onboard and HP does not present it as a user-upgradeable component.
- Check the local warranty, adapter specification and delivery date for your country.
- Look for independent tests of sustained performance, AI workloads, gaming frame rates, display calibration, acoustics and battery life before paying a premium.
First-impressions verdict
The HP OmniBook Ultra 16 has an unusually ambitious launch specification: RTX Spark local-processing hardware, a 3K 120Hz OLED touchscreen, up to 128GB of onboard LPDDR5x memory, Gen5 storage and a 99Wh battery. Those features make it a credible candidate for creators, developers and advanced AI users who want one large-screen machine. The main reasons to wait are equally clear: regional configurations and prices differ, the memory choice is effectively a purchase-time decision, and independent testing had not yet established real-world performance or endurance at launch.
