The HP OmniBook 5 14-inch looks like a sensible everyday laptop if you value battery life, portability, and an OLED screen. But the available independent review tested a different configuration, and HP’s published specifications describe the broader 14-he0000 family—not the exact 14-he1012QU SKU. Treat performance and runtime figures below as results for TechRadar’s review unit, and confirm the precise regional listing before relying on any specification or price.
What the OmniBook 5 is best suited for
TechRadar reviewer Stevie Bonifield’s October 16, 2025 review found the tested OmniBook 5 14-inch capable of everyday browser, email, word-processing, and study tasks. The review’s strongest themes were long battery life, a vivid OLED display, and a light design. Those qualities make the series a plausible fit for school, commuting, general office work, and media viewing—provided the configuration on offer matches your needs.
The same review described performance as middling and gaming performance as weak, and advised choosing a more powerful laptop for resource-intensive applications. It also noted heat while charging and build quality that felt less convincing. These are observations about TechRadar’s tested configuration, not independently verified findings for 14-he1012QU. Read TechRadar’s review.
How long the battery lasted in TechRadar’s test
TechRadar recorded 16 hours and 2 minutes in its battery test of the review unit. That is a reviewer-measured result, not a runtime guarantee for every OmniBook 5, and it does not establish how long the 14-he1012QU will last under your workload. Screen brightness, applications, wireless use, and the specific configuration can affect real-world endurance.

What HP lists for the 14-he0000 family
HP Support lists the 14-inch OmniBook 5 Next Gen AI PC 14-he0000 family with a release month and year of May 2025. HP cautions that components can vary by country or region and by custom configuration. The family information is useful context, but it does not confirm what is inside SKU 14-he1012QU. Check HP’s family specifications and compare them with the exact regional product page or retailer listing.
| Family specification | HP-listed options or detail |
|---|---|
| Processors | Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 or Snapdragon X X1-26-100; HP says the X1-26-100 option is available only with the non-touch display. |
| Memory | Onboard LPDDR5x, with 16 GB or 32 GB options. |
| Storage | 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB SSD. |
| Display | 14-inch 1920 × 1200 OLED panels, with touch and non-touch variants listed. |
HP’s datasheet describes the screen as a near-edge-to-edge “2K OLED” display with an optional touch panel, rated at 300 nits, and says the laptop supports 4K and 5K external displays. That is HP’s product description, not an independent measurement or confirmation of the 14-he1012QU’s panel. See HP’s product datasheet.

How the tested OLED display performed
TechRadar measured 194.5% sRGB gamut coverage and 138.4% DCI-P3 gamut coverage on its review unit. These are test results for that unit, not guaranteed figures for every regional configuration. The review praised the display’s vivid appearance, which supports the laptop’s appeal for video and everyday viewing; it does not by itself establish color accuracy for professional work.

Compare carefully if
- You use demanding creative applications or expect strong sustained gaming performance.
- You care strongly about premium-feeling build materials.

For a comparison with another laptop, weigh workload performance, RAM and storage, battery evidence, display, weight, build, ports, and regional price. Do not assume a result or specification from another OmniBook 5 configuration applies to the listing in front of you.
