The HP HyperX Omen 16 Valorant Edition gets its game-inspired look right: minimalist icons and surface markings make the special edition recognizable without overwhelming the laptop. Its main drawback is practical rather than stylistic—the dark, smooth gray finish shows fingerprints quickly, including on the lid, palm rests, and keycaps.
What makes the Valorant Edition’s design work?
Notebookcheck’s Allen Ngo describes the Valorant Edition’s skin as restrained rather than overdone. Its minimalist iconography and surface markings signal the game without turning the laptop into a wall of branding. That approach may appeal even to someone who likes the design but does not play Valorant.
The result is a special-edition look that remains relatively understated. The visual treatment is the strongest part of the design assessment; it does not, by itself, establish anything about the laptop’s performance.

The dark, smooth gray surfaces make fingerprints conspicuous. Ngo reports that smudges build up quickly and become visible almost immediately on the outer lid, palm rests, keyboard keycaps, and other dark surfaces. This is a qualitative observation from his August 24, 2026 article, not a measured comparison or a quantified test result.

In practical terms, the finish may need frequent wiping if you want it to look clean. A laptop-safe microfiber cloth is a reasonable option for removing visible smudges, but the article does not test a cleaning method or establish that any particular cloth prevents fingerprints.
Can you choose a less fingerprint-prone color?
Ngo notes that HP offers white Omen 16 configurations, but says the Valorant Edition is not available in white. The article does not give a complete regional availability list, so check the configurations offered where you plan to buy before treating white as an option for a particular Omen 16 model.

What this design assessment does—and does not—tell you
The article is about appearance and everyday handling. It points readers to a separate review for performance benchmarks, and the design assessment itself supplies no benchmark data. Use it to judge the Valorant Edition’s styling and fingerprint visibility, not to infer gaming performance or compare specifications.
