The HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e is a color inkjet printer, scanner, and copier built for offices that need wide-format printing. HP’s U.S. listing specifies output up to 11 x 17 inches, up to 22 pages per minute, and capacity for 500 sheets. Its main appeal is combining that large print size with office-oriented paper capacity; its main cautions are an A4-limited document feeder and reported ink and paper-handling drawbacks.
What the HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e does
HP identifies the 9730e (product number 537P6A#B1H) as a wide-format machine with print, copy, and scan functions. The U.S. product listing specifies printing up to 11 x 17 inches, up to 22 pages per minute, and 500-sheet paper capacity. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance measurements. HP’s U.S. product listing
TechRadar also lists 22 pages per minute for monochrome printing and a 500-sheet capacity, and gives the printer’s weight as 19.5 kg. Its comparison page reports twin trays, a 35-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), dual-band Wi-Fi, AirPrint, a 4.3-inch display, and HP Wolf Pro Security. Those details are TechRadar’s reported specifications, rather than independently verified here. TechRadar’s A3 printer comparison

Can it print and scan at 11 x 17 inches?
It can print up to 11 x 17 inches, according to HP’s U.S. listing. That does not mean its ADF can accept sheets of the same size. TechRadar says the 35-sheet ADF is limited to A4, so buyers who need to feed oversized originals for scanning or copying should distinguish the printer’s maximum output size from the feeder’s document size. HP’s product page also distinguishes its print format from smaller scan and copy formats. HP’s U.S. product listing TechRadar’s A3 printer comparison

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The ADF’s 35-sheet capacity may suit routine batches of office documents, but it will not remove the A4 size constraint. If your regular workflow involves scanning or copying A3 originals, verify the flatbed and scan specifications for your regional model before buying.
What are the practical strengths and drawbacks?
Wide-format output and capacity
The combination of 11 x 17-inch printing and a stated 500-sheet capacity is the clearest reason to consider the 9730e. Oversized prints can be useful for spreadsheets, layouts, and other documents that are difficult to read when reduced to letter-size pages. The capacity is a manufacturer-listed figure; actual usable capacity depends on the paper and tray configuration.

Rated speed is not a real-world guarantee
HP lists print speeds of up to 22 pages per minute, and TechRadar lists 22 ppm for monochrome output. Treat that as a rated maximum, not a promise that every job will finish at that rate. Color, page content, print settings, and the time needed to process a job can affect throughput.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Ink and heavier paper warrant attention
TechRadar describes the ink as expensive and reports paper jams and difficulty printing stock above 105 g/m² in its experience. Those are review observations, not a guarantee that every unit or paper type will behave the same way. If you regularly print on heavier media, check the supported paper weights for the exact regional model and consider TechRadar’s report as a reason to verify that requirement before purchase. No independently established cost-per-page figure or verified cartridge yield is available here, so a numeric running-cost estimate would be misleading. To assess your likely expense, compare local cartridge prices with yields defined for the same cartridge and page-coverage basis, and estimate how many pages you print in each color.
Which ink cartridges does it use?
Cartridge families vary by market. HP’s U.S. support listing associates the North American configuration with HP 936 setup cartridges. HP’s UK series listing shows HP 936 products and identifies HP 937 for EU/AP developed markets. Confirm your printer’s regional product number and consult the local supplies listing before ordering; do not assume a cartridge sold for another market fits your unit. What should buyers know about HP+ and warranty offers?
HP’s U.S. store advertises three months of Instant Ink with HP+ on its offer page. This is a market-specific promotion that can change, so check the current local terms rather than treating it as a permanent feature or a worldwide offer. HP’s U.S. product listing
HP Philippines lists a one-year limited hardware warranty and says there is an option to extend it to two years with an HP+ Offer. That information is specific to the Philippines listing and should not be read as the warranty for other regions. Check the warranty terms tied to your country and product SKU. Who should consider the 9730e?
It is a plausible fit for a home office or small office that needs occasional or regular 11 x 17-inch color printing, print/copy/scan functions, and substantial stated paper capacity in one inkjet. It is a less straightforward choice if your work depends on scanning A3 originals through an ADF, printing reliably on stock heavier than the media limits allow, or keeping ink spending within a specific per-page budget.
Quick Recap
- Consider it if: 11 x 17-inch output is important, and the 500-sheet stated capacity and built-in scanning and copying suit your workflow.
- Check before buying if: you need large-format feeder scanning, regularly use heavy paper, or require a predictable cost per page.
- Confirm locally: cartridge compatibility, warranty coverage, and any Instant Ink or HP+ promotion against your country and exact model SKU.
