The HP EliteBoard G1a is a Windows 11 business PC built into a full-size keyboard. It is designed to survive everyday workspace spills and frequent moves, but it is spill-resistant, not waterproof; it has no integrated touchpad; and its 32 Wh battery can last anywhere from roughly three to eight hours depending on the processor configuration, monitor and workload.
What the EliteBoard G1a is
Instead of pairing a mini PC with a separate keyboard, the EliteBoard G1a puts the computer, cooling system, memory and storage inside the keyboard enclosure. Connect a display and the keyboard PC becomes a conventional Windows 11 workstation. That makes it suited to hot desks, classrooms, reception counters, travel between offices and any desk where carrying one computing unit is easier than moving a tower or laptop dock.
Notebookcheck tested a configuration with AMD Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340, integrated Radeon 840M graphics, 32 GB of DDR5 memory and the 32 Wh battery. HP also lists configurations up to Ryzen AI 7 PRO 350. Performance is strong for office and general productivity work, while the integrated graphics are not intended for demanding modern games. Results vary with the selected processor, memory arrangement and storage configuration.
Is it waterproof?
No. HP calls the keyboard “spill-resistant” and “easy-clean,” intended for coffee mishaps, desk changes, daily transport and changing work environments. That wording does not establish an IP water-resistance rating or protection against immersion.
#1 Best Overall
- Form Factor: Desktop PC built into a compact keyboard design for space-saving workspace solutions
- Compact Dimensions: Height of 0.7 inches, Width of 14.1 inches, and Depth of 4.7 inches for minimal desk footprint
- Operating System and Processor: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit with AMD Ryzen AI 7 Pro 350 processor featuring 3.50 GHz base frequency, up to 5.00 GHz boost, 8 cores and 16 threads, plus AMD Ryzen AI with up to 50 TOPS
- Memory and Storage: 32GB DDR5 5600MT/s RAM (1x32GB SODIMM) expandable to 64GB maximum with 2 SODIMM slots, and 512GB PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSD storage capacity
- Graphics and Audio: AMD Radeon 860M integrated graphics with Audio by Poly Studio featuring 2 integrated stereo speakers, discrete amplifiers, and 2 integrated dual array microphones
The independent review summary says HP cites MIL-STD-810 testing and that testing broadly supports the spill-resistant, easy-clean design. A liquid spill should still be treated as an accident, not as permission to rinse or submerge the unit.
What to do after a spill
- Disconnect the power cable and any peripherals immediately.
- Move the keyboard PC away from the liquid and let surface moisture drain.
- Do not power it back on until it is fully dry; seek service if liquid entered the enclosure or the keyboard behaves abnormally.
- Clean the exterior according to HP’s care instructions rather than using immersion or a high-pressure spray.
Battery life depends on the display
The optional internal battery has a 32 Wh capacity. HP’s service guide quotes up to 3.5 hours of standard office productivity with AC-powered monitors and specifies charging through a compliant USB-C cable and 65 W adapter.
HP QuickSpecs provide controlled MobileMark estimates for a particular Ryzen 7 configuration with 32 Wh, 2×8 GB memory and a 256 GB SSD: up to seven hours with an external monitor, but up to three hours with an external portable monitor. Notebookcheck measured about 8 hours 2 minutes of continuous WLAN browsing with an HDMI monitor on its Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340 test unit.

|---|---|---|

| HP QuickSpecs MobileMark | Up to 3 hours | Same specified configuration with an external portable monitor |
| Notebookcheck WLAN test | About 8 hours 2 minutes | Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340 test unit using an HDMI monitor; continuous browsing scenario |
These figures are not a universal runtime promise. Monitor power, screen brightness, wireless activity, applications and the chosen EliteBoard configuration can materially change endurance.
There is no built-in touchpad
The EliteBoard G1a has a keyboard but no touchpad. You therefore need a mouse or another pointing device for a complete desktop setup. HP’s QuickSpecs list an HP 675 Wireless Multi-Device Mouse as an accessory, although any compatible USB or Bluetooth mouse can fill the role.
Plan on a USB-C hub for a flexible desk
Connectivity is centered on USB-C, and the limited port count can become restrictive when you add a display, wired network, storage and input devices. HP’s service documentation describes an HDMI Multiport Hub with two HDMI outputs, RJ-45 gigabit Ethernet and USB-C.

A USB-C HDMI multiport hub with Ethernet is the most practical add-on for a desk that uses more than one screen or needs wired networking. Check the hub’s display-output capabilities and power-delivery requirements before purchase; a hub does not automatically increase the EliteBoard’s graphics performance or battery capacity.
Can you upgrade the RAM and SSD?
The bottom cover opens quickly for access to the RAM, SSD and Wi-Fi modules, according to ComputerBase. That is a meaningful advantage over many sealed thin laptops: an organization can service or replace storage and wireless hardware rather than replacing the entire computer.
The keyboard module is also top-mounted and serviceable. The review summary reports HP’s claim that a replacement can be completed in under 10 minutes. Actual service time depends on the technician, parts and the specific configuration, so the claim should be read as a design target rather than a guaranteed repair appointment.

Who should buy a keyboard PC?
Good fit
- Hybrid workers who move a familiar workstation between desks.
- Businesses that want a replaceable keyboard module and accessible internal components.
- Users who already have an external monitor and prefer a compact, cable-light computer.
- Workloads centered on web apps, office software, communications and other productivity tasks.
Less suitable
- Anyone expecting laptop-style pointing without carrying a mouse.
- Travelers who need long battery life with a portable monitor; HP’s controlled estimate for that setup is up to three hours.
- Gamers or creators who require a discrete GPU.
- Workspaces that need many ports without an adapter.
- Users seeking waterproof equipment for outdoor or wash-down environments.
What to budget beyond the keyboard PC
The complete setup may require a display, mouse and USB-C hub in addition to the EliteBoard itself. A hub is especially relevant if you need dual HDMI, gigabit Ethernet or several USB peripherals; a mouse is essential because there is no touchpad. HP replacement parts and accessories may differ by region, and the supplied material does not establish current prices, inventory or affiliate availability.
