Short answer: the official pages currently available do not establish the mechanics, limits, or outcome of the form readers call Yuno’s “new transformation.” They therefore cannot support a reliable claim that it equals or surpasses Asta’s Devil Union. The safest comparison is evidence-based: verify the relevant manga panels, then assess power source, combat function, constraints and performance in the same encounter.
“New transformation” is reader wording, not a confirmed canon form name in the publisher material cited here. The sections below separate established series context from claims that require checking chapters 390–392 directly.

What is officially established about Asta and Yuno?
The official character material presents Asta and Yuno as lifelong rivals who share the ambition of reaching the top of the Magic Knights and becoming Wizard King. That rivalry is the firm context for comparing any late-series power-up; it does not, by itself, prove that one transformation is stronger than the other. The official Yuno profile describes their relationship and goal at Yuno’s character page, while the series is indexed by VIZ at the official Black Clover series page.

The individual pages identify chapter 391 as “A Conclusion Reached” and chapter 392 as “Beyond Not Giving Up.” Those pages establish publication and access metadata, but their publicly exposed text does not provide a scene-by-scene description of the transformations. You can check the chapter pages at VIZ’s chapter index, chapter 391 and chapter 392.

Is “Yuno’s new transformation” an official form name?
It has not been verified as one. Reader conversations use phrases such as “Yuno new transformation,” “Neverland,” and “Devil Union,” but those expressions are not sufficient evidence of the terminology used in the manga’s official translation. A discussion thread at Reddit’s Black Clover community also uses informal labels such as “half devil transformation (black /devil union)” and “half spirit transformation (spirit dive).” Such wording can explain what readers mean when they search, but it should be attributed as reader vocabulary rather than presented as an official definition.
For publication, put quotation marks around “new transformation” unless the relevant panel or official translation explicitly supplies a named form. Do not turn a fan label into a canon statement, and do not infer a complete ability set from the character’s appearance.
Why a definitive winner cannot be stated from the publisher pages alone
A transformation comparison needs more than a visual change or a reputation-based power ranking. The accessible official pages identify the chapters but do not expose enough of the scenes to verify what Yuno’s form does, how long it lasts, what it costs, or how it performs against an opponent. They likewise do not provide a sourced ranking that places the form above or below Devil Union.
Rank #2
That means statements such as “Yuno now surpasses Asta,” “the two forms are equal,” or “Devil Union remains stronger” would be conclusions without a chapter-grounded chain of evidence. The responsible answer is conditional: a ranking can be made only after the exact panels and official translation have been checked.
The four-axis comparison that answers the reader’s real question
When the scenes are read directly, compare both forms on the same four axes. This avoids treating a dramatic design as a measurement of power.
| Axis | What to verify in the manga | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Power source | The source each form draws on and the name the manga gives that source. | It distinguishes the underlying power system from the visible transformation. |
| Combat function | Offensive, defensive, movement or battlefield effects explicitly shown. | A form designed for control or mobility should not be judged only by destructive force. |
| Constraints | Duration, stamina or mana costs, activation conditions and demonstrated counters. | A short burst and an always-available state have different practical value. |
| Same-fight performance | Specific actions, damage, saves and outcomes in the relevant encounter. | Shared circumstances make the comparison more reliable than general power-scaling claims. |
1. Power source
Record the exact wording used when each form is activated. Note whether the manga identifies a separate partner, spell, attribute, union, spirit or other source, and whether that source is described as changing the user’s normal capabilities. Do not substitute a familiar fan term for the translation on the page.
2. Combat function
List what the form actually does in panels: attacks that connect, barriers that block damage, movement that changes position, or effects that alter the battlefield. A named technique should be counted only when it is shown or explicitly described. An illustration of wings, markings or a different outfit is evidence of presentation, not proof of a particular ability.
3. Constraints
Look for stated time limits, exhaustion, recovery requirements, activation conditions and counters. If a limitation is only implied by a character’s condition, label it as an observation rather than a confirmed rule. A form that produces a larger single attack may still be less useful if it can be maintained for less time or requires a narrow condition.
4. Same-fight performance
Use the encounter in which the two forms can be compared, recording the opponent, starting conditions, assistance and objective. Separate an action that changes the fight from an exchange of dialogue or a character’s prediction. The outcome should be tied to what happened on the page, not to a later fan interpretation.

How to verify the comparison in the official chapters
- Open the VIZ chapter index and confirm the entries for chapters 390–392.
- Read chapter 391, “A Conclusion Reached,” through its official page at VIZ. Mark every panel where Yuno’s form is named, activated or described.
- Read chapter 392, “Beyond Not Giving Up,” at VIZ, checking whether the form’s effects, duration or result are clarified there.
- Check chapter 390 as well if the transformation appears before the two titled chapters. The index establishes that chapter’s identity and date, but the scene itself must be read to determine what it contains.
- Copy the official translation’s terminology exactly. Keep reader labels in quotation marks and identify them as informal when discussing search language.
- Build a side-by-side record using the four axes above, citing the chapter for every ability, limitation and outcome.
This process matters because a single panel can distinguish a temporary state from a permanent change, or a character’s speculation from a confirmed rule. It also prevents a later summary from silently combining details from different scenes.
What “Devil Union” establishes—and what it does not establish here
The phrase “Devil Union” is part of the reader’s framing of Asta’s ability in the title and in fan discussion. The cited official pages in this material do not provide a detailed mechanics description that can be quoted for this comparison. Accordingly, this article does not assign Devil Union a duration, power ceiling, attack list or weakness without a verified panel and translation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThat limitation does not make the comparison impossible; it defines the evidence standard. Read the pages, identify what the official text says, and then compare the demonstrated result with Yuno’s form under equivalent conditions. If one form is shown in a different type of battle, describe the difference instead of treating the scenes as a controlled contest.

How to handle “Neverland” and other reader terminology
“Neverland” appears in reader phrasing associated with Yuno, but the material cited here does not verify whether it is the official name of a transformation, a spell, a battlefield effect or a fan shorthand. Use the term only with attribution unless the manga page supplies the name. The same rule applies to labels such as “spirit transformation,” “spirit dive” or “half devil transformation.”
A clear sentence distinguishes the levels of certainty: “Readers call this state ‘Neverland,’ while the official chapter should be checked for the translated name and for whether the term describes a form or an effect.” That wording informs readers without turning community language into canon.
Publication and edition notes for spoiler-conscious readers
Chapters 391 and 392 are identified by VIZ as “A Conclusion Reached” and “Beyond Not Giving Up,” respectively, and the index dates chapters 390–392 April 30, 2026. Those dates are index metadata, not evidence that every transformation detail appears in one chapter. Readers should check all relevant panels rather than relying on a chapter title or a social-media summary.

Shueisha’s official Black Clover manga portal lists collected editions, including volume 36. The available listing does not verify which volume contains chapters 390–392 or the specific transformation scenes discussed here, so do not cite volume 36 as the location of those pages without checking the contents directly.
Common errors when comparing the two forms
- Declaring a winner from appearance: design scale, aura and costume changes are not measurements of output or endurance.
- Using a fan wiki as the primary citation: secondary summaries may merge translations or add interpretation; use the official chapter wording for mechanics.
- Confusing a spell with a transformation: a battlefield technique may support a character without changing the character’s form.
- Ignoring conditions: compare activation requirements, duration and recovery before comparing results.
- Mixing encounters: an attack shown against one opponent cannot automatically be ranked against an attack shown under different circumstances.
- Treating predictions as outcomes: dialogue about what a form might do is not proof that it did so.
Bottom line on the current evidence
Yuno and Asta are officially framed as rivals chasing the same Wizard King ambition, and VIZ confirms the late-series chapter identities and dates. The publisher pages cited here do not, however, verify the form readers call Yuno’s “new transformation” or provide enough scene text to rank it against Devil Union. Until the official panels and translation are checked, the only defensible conclusion is that the comparison remains unresolved. A chapter-grounded answer should report each form’s named source, demonstrated function, constraints and same-fight result rather than announce an unsupported winner.
