WXRQ is described by its creator as an automated radio and television station built around a software production workflow: check a script, render and choose voice takes, add music, schedule and encode the finished segment, then deliver audio through HLS. Its public site was reported to include a player and schedule. Those details come from the author’s project note, not independent verification of the deployment.
What WXRQ’s “production kit” means
In a project note published September 25, 2025, author w4ffl35 described WXRQ as an automated radio and television station. Here, “production kit” refers to a connected software workflow, not a documented physical radio kit. The post names Python, Django, Chatterbox, LMMS, NVENC and a small web player, but does not give component versions, hardware requirements, hosting details or an architecture diagram. How a segment moves from script to listener

Start with a short piece that has a beginning, a change and an ending. The author’s advice is: “Run the script checks before you touch the voice pipeline.” That order catches script problems before time is spent rendering audio.

2. Render and choose voice takes
The production flow can render several voice takes, then select a take for each line. The author’s guidance suggests comparing alternatives when a line warrants it, rather than generating choices indiscriminately; the selected take and the reason for choosing it stay associated with the script.
3. Add a supporting music bed
Music is added after voice selection. The goal is for the bed to support the segment without competing with speech; the project note does not specify a mixing method, loudness target or audio format.

4. Schedule, encode and deliver
Once assembled, a segment is scheduled and encoded. The author says WXRQ delivers its audio stream through HLS. The television channel is described as using a separate transport, but the post does not identify that transport or explain the encoding configuration.
What listeners and producers were reported to get
The author reported that WXRQ’s public site exposed a player and schedule, so listeners could hear the station and see what was due next. An administrative interface was also described for browsing and editing production work. A separate lecture pipeline was said to turn CC BY textbooks into narrated courseware. These are project-note descriptions, not independently confirmed features or guarantees of current availability.

The author reported that the station reached version 0.6.13 during the week of the post. That is a time-bound release report, not evidence of the current release or present-day operation. The note does not provide listener figures, uptime, costs or performance measurements.
