For a quick narrated client walkthrough, Loom is the clearest fit in the available product information: its browser recorder supports screen and camera capture, editing, sharing, and viewer comments. For repeatable procedures that clients or staff need to follow later, Scribe is a better fit as a visual-guide tool—but it does not record video. The right choice depends on whether the deliverable is a conversation-like explanation or reusable documentation.
Choose by the deliverable, not by the recorder
Web agencies use screen recordings to explain a design decision, demonstrate a website or web app, report a bug, give feedback, answer recurring questions, and hand off a site. Those jobs do not all call for the same output.

Treat that as a changeable plan detail, not a permanent free-plan guarantee, and confirm the current plan and feature terms before choosing it for a team.

When Scribe is the better fit
Scribe captures browser actions and generates an editable, step-by-step guide. That format can suit a client handoff, a repeatable content update, a support knowledge base, or a troubleshooting procedure where readers need to jump directly to a particular instruction. Its product information lists link sharing, embedding, and PDF, HTML, or Markdown exports.

Do not choose it expecting a narrated screen video. Scribe’s FAQ explicitly distinguishes its process capture from video recording: it creates visual guides, not video. Questions to answer before adopting a tool
- What must the recipient do? If they need to understand a specific decision, a narrated clip may be more natural. If they must repeat a sequence, a visual guide is usually the more directly reusable format.
- What needs to be captured? Check whether browser-only capture is sufficient or whether the workflow crosses desktop applications. Do not assume browser capture covers the full desktop.
- How will the client receive it? Confirm whether you need a share link or embed, an exported file, or a document format that can live in a client knowledge base.
- How much follow-up is expected? For video, consider whether trimming, comments, and viewer reactions are useful to your review process. For guides, consider whether editable steps and exports are more valuable.
- Who needs access and control? Check privacy settings, team access, hosting expectations, and what happens when a staff member leaves or a client engagement ends.
- What do the current terms allow? Review plan limits, recording resolution, desktop capture eligibility, and any paid-tier requirements directly before standardizing on a tool. Product plans and limits can change.
A practical agency workflow
- Classify the request. Mark it as a one-time explanation, a feedback conversation, or a repeatable procedure.
- Choose the output. Use a narrated video for a specific visual explanation; use a step guide when the recipient must repeat the process later.
