Ultimate Team packs give randomized items, while the Transfer Market lets you buy and sell eligible tradeable items for Coins. Pack probabilities describe broad item categories—not a specific footballer—and every opening is independent. Market prices move with supply and demand, and new accounts may need to complete Graduated Access before they can use every market function.
What Ultimate Team packs and the market do
Ultimate Team combines two different ways to build a squad. Packs contain randomized Player Items and Club Items. The Transfer Market is a player-to-player marketplace for eligible tradeable items, purchased and sold with in-game Coins. These systems are connected—packs add supply to the market—but they are not interchangeable: a pack does not promise a particular player, and the market cannot guarantee that the item you want is listed at an affordable price.
The current official probability explanation applies to EA SPORTS FC 27 and was published on August 20, 2026. EA says the live in-game store is the authoritative place to check a pack’s contents, cost, and displayed odds because those values can change when the game receives new content. How Ultimate Team pack odds work
Probabilities cover categories and rating bands
For packs available with FC Points, open the pack’s Show Pack Probabilities panel in the Ultimate Team Store. The panel reports the minimum probability of receiving one or more items in a named category and rating range. Player categories are grouped by Player Item type and overall rating (OVR); Club Item categories can include kits, vanity items, manager items, and consumables.

A displayed percentage is therefore not the chance of drawing one named footballer. It is the chance that the pack contains at least one item meeting the stated category definition. One item can satisfy more than one category, so the percentages are not mutually exclusive and should not be added together.
The official example is illustrative, not current data
EA illustrates the format with a hypothetical Large Gold Pack showing Gold 75+ Player at 100%, Gold 82+ Player at 18%, and Gold 84+ Player at 4.2%. EA explicitly warns that those figures are examples and may not match the final game. Do not treat them as the live odds for any FC 27 pack; read the values shown on the pack’s current store screen instead.
Odds are recalculated as content changes
EA says it calculates probabilities by simulating many openings for each pack type and reruns those calculations when content is updated. The in-game display includes a timestamp indicating when the shown values were accurate. A promotion, new release, or other content change can therefore alter the displayed category probabilities without changing the general way the system works.
Does opening more packs improve your chance?
No. Each pack opening is an independent event. EA’s wording is explicit: “Any probability percentages that you see are on a pack-by-pack basis and are not cumulative.” Opening ten packs does not make the eleventh pack more likely to contain a high-rated category, and there is no published sequence or timing method that improves the odds.
If a category has a probability of p on the current pack screen, that value applies to each pack individually. The chance of seeing at least one such category across several openings can be calculated mathematically, but that does not alter any single opening’s odds. In practice, use the store’s current display and a budget rather than assuming a “pity” mechanic or a guaranteed improvement after poor results.

Can you get a specific player from a pack?
Possibly, if that footballer is in the pack’s eligible item pool, but the category percentage is not the player’s individual probability. EA describes the chance of any particular item as significantly lower than the broad category chance and often below 1%; that is a general explanation, not a measured odds figure for every pack or player.
The eligible pool can change with live content. A high-rated category may contain many players, and the game draws from that pool rather than selecting one named target. If your objective is one specific tradeable footballer, compare the cost of repeatedly buying randomized packs with the current listing price and availability on the Transfer Market. Neither route guarantees a result: a pack may not contain the player, and the market may have no listing at the moment.
Pack contents, currencies, and what to check before buying
Player Items versus Club Items
- Player Items: footballers grouped by item type and OVR ranges in the probability panel.
- Club Items: kits, vanity items, manager items, consumables, and other club-related content.
Read the guaranteed minimum contents and every listed category before confirming a purchase. “Guaranteed” means the pack includes at least the stated minimum; it does not promise a particular player or a specific top-rated item unless the description says so.
FC Points and Coins are different
EA lists FC Points as paid currency for Ultimate Team Store packs and other store items, Ultimate Team Draft entry, and the Premium Pass. Buy Points only through the Ultimate Team Store, your console store, or a trusted retailer, as described in EA’s Coins and FC Points safety guidance. Prices, pack contents, and availability are live listings; check the current store rather than relying on an old screenshot or price list.
Coins are earned in the game and used in its player economy. They are not a substitute for FC Points, and EA does not authorize buying Coins from an outside seller.

How the FC Transfer Market works
Tradeable items only
The market exchanges eligible tradeable Ultimate Team items for Coins. A pack can contain both tradeable and untradeable items, so inspect an item’s status before planning to sell it. Untradeable items cannot be listed, even if they came from a valuable pack.

EA assigns each market item a minimum and maximum listing price. Sellers must list within that range. The item’s observed average Coin price can rise or fall as supply, demand, and the item’s on-pitch performance change. A current listing is therefore a market snapshot, not a guaranteed long-term value or an official fixed price.
When comparing a purchase, check several active listings, their remaining time, and whether the item is actually tradeable. A low listing may disappear quickly; a high listing may remain unsold. The market does not promise that every item will be available whenever you search.
Quick-selling versus listing
EA identifies two legitimate ways to turn a tradeable item into Coins: list it for another player to buy, or quick-sell it for the game’s stated quick-sell return. Listing can produce more or less than quick-sell depending on demand and the applicable market limits; quick-sell is immediate but does not let you benefit from a later price increase.
How to unlock the Transfer Market on a new account
New accounts can be placed in EA’s Graduated Access process. During this period, market functions are restricted while the account completes required objectives and waits for access to unlock. Follow the current instructions in EA’s Transfer Market access guide, because eligibility and timing can depend on platform, region, and account history.

- Open Ultimate Team and check the objectives or access notice shown for your account.
- Complete every objective required by the Graduated Access process; incomplete objectives can prevent progression.
- After completion, allow the stated waiting period for the account to be reviewed and access to update.
- Reopen Ultimate Team and test the market functions that were previously locked.
EA’s current support instructions state that full access should arrive within 48 hours after objective completion on PC or within 24 hours on other platforms. Treat those as current guidance rather than a guarantee for every account. EA also says listing may be available during the post-objective wait while searching, bidding, and Buy Now remain unavailable. If access is still missing after the applicable window, verify that all objectives registered as complete, restart the game and companion apps, and contact EA Help instead of attempting to bypass the restriction.
How to earn and spend Coins legally
Legitimate earning routes
- Play matches and collect the rewards the mode provides.
- Sell tradeable items at fair market prices within the assigned listing limits.
- Quick-sell tradeable items when immediate Coins are more useful than a market listing.
Rewards and available objectives can vary by season, so use the amounts displayed in your current game rather than assuming an old reward table still applies.
Actions that can result in sanctions
EA prohibits buying Coins from third parties, distributing Coins between accounts, and using the market to move Coins through deliberately extreme listings or similar arrangements. Sanctions can include limited or revoked market access, including in the Companion App, as well as other account action. The rules are summarized in EA’s EA SPORTS FC rules for bans, Coins, and cheating.
Do not share account credentials with a seller, use bots or automation, or treat a suspiciously cheap listing as a safe way to transfer value. A fair sale reflects the item’s market value and stays within the displayed min/max range; it is not a workaround for sending Coins to another account.
Pack or market: which route fits your goal?

Before opening a pack, compare its live cost, guaranteed minimum contents, and category probabilities with your objective. If you need one specific tradeable card and the market price is within your budget, a direct purchase removes the pack’s randomness. If you are building a club broadly and value the possible contents, a pack may fit—but only if you accept that the displayed probabilities are minimum category chances, not a promise of profit or a particular player.

Troubleshooting common problems
“Show Pack Probabilities” is missing
Check that you are viewing a current Ultimate Team Store offer and that the pack is one for which EA displays probabilities. Store menus and offers can change with live content. Exit and re-enter the store, then use the probability panel attached to that specific pack rather than relying on a third-party list.
The item cannot be listed
Confirm that the item is tradeable. Untradeable rewards and certain pack contents cannot be sold. If the item is tradeable but the listing control is unavailable, verify whether your account is still in Graduated Access or whether the market is temporarily restricted.
Search, bidding, or Buy Now is locked
This is consistent with the restricted stage EA describes after objective completion. Check the platform-specific waiting period, ensure all access objectives are complete, and wait for the account status to update. Do not attempt Coin transfers or other workarounds while access is restricted.

Compare several listings and the assigned minimum and maximum prices. Supply can increase after rewards or pack releases, while demand can rise when an item performs well or fits a popular squad. A single listing is not proof of a stable value.
A practical checklist before you spend
- Confirm the game and live offer: the current guidance concerns FC 27, and store content changes.
- Open Show Pack Probabilities and read the timestamp, categories, rating bands, and guaranteed minimum contents.
- Remember that category odds overlap and that every opening is independent.
- Decide whether you need a broad set of items or one specific tradeable player.
- For a market purchase, compare multiple listings and check the item’s tradeable status and price limits.
- Use only in-game earning methods for Coins and never buy, sell, or transfer Coins through third parties.
- If market access is restricted, complete the displayed objectives and follow the platform-specific wait rather than trying to bypass it.
For official updates, use EA’s EA SPORTS FC support hub and the live notices inside Ultimate Team. Rules, access requirements, probabilities, and offers can change as the game is updated.
