For a standard Amazon shopping account, start at Your Account. Choose Login & security to edit your name, email address, mobile number, or password. Use Your payments for payment methods and billing addresses. Amazon Music has a separate profile editor for its name, picture, handle, and privacy controls; those edits stay in Amazon Music rather than changing your shopping-account identity.
Amazon uses “profile” in more than one way. Its general account pages cover personal and purchase information, while Your Profile can include reviews, recommendations, reminders, and profile information. Amazon Music also has a public-facing profile. The correct editing page therefore depends on the information you want to change.
Choose the right Amazon settings area
Use this map before opening a menu. It prevents a common mistake: changing an Amazon Music profile and expecting the shopping account, or every other Amazon service, to change with it.

The labels and screen sequence can vary by marketplace, app version, and account state. The routes above are Amazon’s named destinations, but a localized interface may place a control in a slightly different position.

View your general Amazon personal information
Amazon Customer Service describes Your Account as the place where you can access personal information and order details. Amazon’s Privacy Notice lists information available through account pages, including your name, address, payment options, profile information, Prime membership, household settings, and purchase history.
- Sign in to the Amazon website or open the Amazon shopping app with the account whose information you want to inspect.
- Open Your Account. On a website, this is normally reached from the account menu; in an app, look for the account area and then the account settings list.
- Review the category that matches your question. For example, use account information for identity and contact details, address controls for delivery information, payment controls for stored payment options, and order history for purchases.
- Open an individual category to see the current value and any available edit control. Do not assume that every item shown on an account page is edited from the same screen.
Amazon’s wording is important here: Your Account is a hub, not one single “edit profile” form. If you are looking for a sign-in detail, go to Login & security; if you are looking for billing information, go to Your payments.
What you can expect to find in Your Account
Amazon identifies several broad categories in this area. Name and contact details identify the account, addresses support delivery or billing tasks, and payment options support transactions. Prime membership, household settings, order history, and other profile information are also account-level records. Open the category that owns the information rather than editing a similar-looking field elsewhere.

Amazon may link you to a dedicated control, ask you to authenticate again, or show a separate page for a particular service. Follow the edit link associated with the value and then return to Your Account to confirm the result.
Edit your name, email, mobile number, or password
Amazon identifies Login & security as the section for editing these four account details. Use the following route for each one.
- Open Your Account.
- Select Login & security.
- Locate the row for your name, email address, mobile number, or password.
- Choose the edit control for that row and enter the new information.
- Complete any confirmation Amazon requests, then save the change.
- Return to the same page and verify that the new value is displayed.
Changing your name
Edit the name shown in the account’s identity details from Login & security. Check the spelling before saving, especially if the name is used in account communications or appears alongside order information. This account edit is separate from the display name used by Amazon Music.
Changing your email address
Use Your Account → Login & security, not an Amazon Music profile editor. The email address is an account sign-in detail. After saving, verify that the new address appears on the security page and use it the next time you sign in if Amazon makes it the active login address. Complete any confirmation message Amazon displays before closing the page.

Changing your mobile number
Open the mobile-number row in Login & security, replace the old number, and save. If Amazon presents a verification step, finish it before leaving the page; otherwise the old value may remain active. Recheck the displayed number so you know which contact detail is currently associated with the account.
Changing your password
Password changes also belong in Login & security. Select the password edit control, provide the information Amazon requests, save the new password, and confirm that the security page reflects the update. Keep the new password private and avoid saving it on a shared device unless that device is protected for your exclusive use.
Manage payment methods and billing addresses
For payment methods and billing addresses, Amazon Pay’s help guidance gives the specific route Your Account → Your payments.
- Open Your Account.
- Choose Your payments.
- Open the payment method or billing-address area.
- Select the existing entry to edit it, or choose the option to add a new one.
- Save the change and check that the updated billing details are attached to the intended payment method.
A billing address is not the same thing as a delivery address. If you need to change where an order is delivered, look for address-management controls in Your Account rather than assuming the billing-address edit will change delivery details. Likewise, changing a card or billing address does not edit your name, email, or mobile number; those remain in Login & security.
What payment changes affect
Amazon Pay states that changes made on the Amazon website apply to both Amazon Pay and Amazon websites. Keep that statement scoped to Amazon Pay and Amazon’s websites. It does not establish that a payment edit changes every Amazon service or that a public-facing service profile will change.
If you use more than one stored payment method, check which entry you edited and whether the billing address is attached to the intended method. A newly added method and an edited existing method are different actions, so review the resulting list before placing an order.
Edit an Amazon Music profile
Amazon Music has its own profile system. Amazon says a Music profile can contain a name, picture, unique social handle, following list, followers list, and public playlists. Profile controls are available in the Amazon Music app for iOS or Android, on a Fire tablet, or in the web player.

- Open Amazon Music on iOS, Android, a Fire tablet, or the web player and sign in to the intended account.
- Open your profile and choose the profile-edit controls. The exact icon or menu placement can vary between the app and web player.
- Edit the name, picture, or unique handle as needed.
- Review the profile privacy setting before saving, particularly if you do not want other users to follow the profile.
- Save the changes, then view the profile as it appears in Amazon Music.
Amazon explicitly says that changes to an Amazon Music profile name, picture, and handle remain within Amazon Music. They do not update the name, picture, or identity details used by other Amazon services. If your shopping-account name is wrong, correct it in Your Account → Login & security instead.
Control who can find or follow your Amazon Music profile
Amazon Music’s profile may expose more than the name and picture. Amazon lists the unique handle, following list, followers list, and public playlists as profile-related elements that may be encountered by other users.
Restrict profile follows
- Open your Amazon Music profile-edit controls.
- Open Profile Privacy.
- Turn off Others can follow my profile.
- Save the privacy change and review the profile again.
This setting addresses the ability to follow your profile. It does not automatically make every associated item invisible. Someone may still encounter your profile after receiving a profile link you shared, and public playlists can provide another way for people to find profile-related information. Review playlist visibility separately before sharing a playlist publicly.
Review public-facing details before sharing
- Check the displayed name and picture for information you intend to make public.
- Check the unique handle, because it can identify the profile when someone searches or opens a shared link.
- Review the followers and following areas for activity you do not want associated with a public profile.
- Inspect public playlists and change their visibility where Amazon Music provides that control.
Privacy is therefore a combination of controls rather than one universal switch. Turning off follows can limit new follows, while a previously shared link or a public playlist can still expose profile-related information. Review both the profile setting and each playlist’s visibility when your goal is to reduce discoverability.
Understand what “profile” means on Amazon
Amazon’s Privacy Notice uses Your Profile broadly. It describes that profile as including product reviews, recommendations, reminders, and personal profile information. This broad description should not be confused with the Amazon Music profile editor.
In practical terms, there are three different questions:
- Which account detail identifies or secures me? Use Login & security.
- Which payment or billing detail is stored for transactions? Use Your payments.
- Which information is shown in Amazon Music to other users? Use Amazon Music’s profile and Profile Privacy controls.
Separating those questions helps you avoid editing the wrong record. A successful change in one area does not prove that an identically named field in another Amazon service has changed.

Communication preferences and retained information
Amazon’s Privacy Notice says customers can update certain information through the referenced account pages and adjust customer communication preferences. Communication choices are related to how Amazon contacts you; they are not a substitute for changing the email address or mobile number in Login & security.
The same notice says Amazon usually keeps a copy of prior information when a customer updates it. An edited value may replace what is currently displayed without implying that every historical record has been erased. This is especially relevant when you are checking old order details, prior communications, or other records that may have been created before the update.

What happens after you update information
For account-wide edits, verify the result in the same settings area where you made the change. For Amazon Music edits, verify the profile from within Amazon Music. Checking the correct service matters because Amazon Music profile fields are intentionally separate from other Amazon services.
If a confirmation message or verification step appears, complete it before judging whether the change worked. Then reopen the relevant page and read the displayed value. This simple check distinguishes a saved change from an entry that was typed but not submitted.

The option is not where the instructions say it is
Confirm that you are signed in to the intended account and that you opened the account area rather than an order-specific page. Then look for the named destination: Login & security for name, email, mobile number, and password; Your payments for payment methods and billing addresses; or Amazon Music profile controls for Music-only fields. Marketplace, app-version, and account-state differences can change the visual layout.
The change appears in one service but not another
First identify the service in which you made the edit. Amazon Music name, picture, and handle changes are limited to Amazon Music. Conversely, a shopping-account identity edit is not a substitute for editing the Amazon Music profile. Make the change in the service that owns the field.

In Amazon Music, check both Profile Privacy and playlist visibility. Turning off Others can follow my profile restricts follows, but a shared profile link or a public playlist may still lead someone to profile-related content.

You cannot confirm which value is current
Return to the relevant settings page after saving and read the displayed value. If the website and app show different menus, use the platform where the edit was made and allow for interface differences between versions or marketplaces. Do not rely on an Amazon Music profile page to verify a shopping-account name, or on a payment page to verify a public profile.
You changed a billing address but delivery details are unchanged
That result is expected when you edited billing information. Billing addresses belong with payment records, while delivery addresses are managed through address controls in Your Account. Open the delivery-address section and edit the destination separately.
A concise decision checklist
- For a name, email address, mobile number, or password: Your Account → Login & security.
- For a payment method or billing address: Your Account → Your payments.
- For general account information, addresses, order details, Prime membership, household settings, or purchase history: begin in Your Account.
- For an Amazon Music name, picture, handle, or privacy setting: use Amazon Music on iOS, Android, Fire tablet, or the web player.
- After editing, verify the value in the same service and settings area that owns it.
- When privacy matters in Amazon Music, review profile follows and public playlists separately.
- Remember that Amazon usually retains a copy of prior information after an update, according to its Privacy Notice.
