To verify a GCash account in the Philippines, open Profile > Verify Now, submit a valid government ID and selfie, and wait for GCash to send an SMS about the review. Verification expands access to features and raises applicable wallet limits, but the amount depends on your profile—not simply on whether an account is verified. Check the current figure in Profile > Profile Limits.
How to request GCash verification
- Log in to the GCash app and tap Profile > Verify Now.
- Scan a valid government ID accepted by GCash and prepare to take a selfie as prompted. GCash’s public onboarding instructions do not establish that every government ID is accepted, so check its verification guidance if you need to confirm your document.
- Submit the information for review. GCash says it will notify you of your verification status by SMS.
Submitting a request does not guarantee approval. GCash does not publish a fixed processing time in the cited instructions, so allow for the review and rely on the status message rather than an assumed turnaround.
What verification changes
New accounts start with a Basic profile. GCash’s account types also reflect age and SIM or location context: regular accounts are for users aged 18 or older with a Philippine-based SIM; GCash Jr. is for ages 7–17 with a Philippine-based SIM; and GCash Overseas is for Filipinos using a foreign-based SIM where the service is available.
Features available by profile
GCash’s comparison says Basic accounts include Pay Bills, Buy Load, Cash In, and Scan to Pay. Fully Verified accounts include those features and add the services below. Availability can still depend on account eligibility and the service’s own requirements.

GCash wallet and transaction limits
GCash’s limits page says the figures below took effect on October 1, 2026. Wallet maximum means the amount that may be held at one time; incoming and outgoing figures are separate transaction caps. The page says limits may be adjusted, so use Profile > Profile Limits in the updated app to confirm what applies to your account.

What full verification raises for Basic users
GCash says an adult with a Basic account can become Fully Verified to raise the limit up to PHP 500,000. For a minor with a Basic account, full verification raises the wallet limit up to PHP 100,000. To view your account’s amount, update the app, log in, then tap Profile > Profile Limits. GCash currently says downgrading to a lower wallet limit is unavailable. See its wallet limit guidance.

Linked accounts do not add their limits together
GCash says linked accounts use the highest applicable wallet and transaction limits for the profile, but the limits do not combine into a larger total: incoming funds across linked accounts must remain within the profile limit. Adults can create up to five linked accounts; minors can have one per customer profile.
Some services have separate caps
A general wallet limit does not necessarily determine the cap for every service. For example, GCash’s separate GCrypto limits page lists daily top-ups from GCash Wallet to GCrypto of PHP 100,000 for Fully Verified and GCash Plus users, and monthly withdrawals from GCrypto to GCash Wallet of PHP 100,000 for Fully Verified users and PHP 500,000 for GCash Plus users; other periods are listed as N/A. Check the GCrypto limits for the service-specific rules.

- Double check if the URL/website is genuine before entering card details online. Do not provide any gift card details (example: claim code) to someone you do not know or trust. There are a variety of scams in which fraudsters try to trick others into paying with gift cards.
- If you believe that your Card has been lost or stolen, notify Mastercard immediately by calling 1-833-791-7288. You will be asked to provide the Gift Card number and other identifying information.
- Use your Mastercard Gift Card in the U.S. everywhere Mastercard debit cards are accepted, including online. Your Amazon.com Balance cannot be used to purchase Mastercard gift cards.
What GCash says happens if you do not verify
GCash says accounts must be verified within 12 months of creation. Until verified, an account retains only basic services such as Cash In, Pay Bills, Buy Load, and Receive Money. Under GCash’s stated policy, an unverified account with a zero balance will be closed; if it has funds, it will be suspended and charged a PHP 30 monthly maintenance fee after suspension until its balance reaches zero or 10 years have passed, whichever comes first. If a verified account is downgraded
GCash says Fully Verified users must update their information when required and will receive reminders through SMS and the app inbox. If required updates are not completed by the deadline, the profile may be downgraded to Basic and verification may need to be restarted.
