Do not preorder from a leak alone. Verify every claimed set against the LEGO Group’s official newsroom and LEGO.com catalog, then open the product page for the exact set number. A preorder is confirmed through LEGO.com only when that page currently shows Pre-Order and gives a shipping date. “Coming Soon,” a fan spreadsheet, or one retailer’s listing is not equivalent proof.

What a leaked LEGO list can—and cannot—prove

A leaked list is an unverified claim until LEGO publishes matching information. A spreadsheet, social post, retailer placeholder, or fan-site article may provide useful leads, but none is an official announcement. The LEGO Group’s newsroom and official Shop are the evidence to check first.

If a claimed set is missing from the official sources you checked, describe it as not confirmed by LEGO in those sources. Absence does not prove that the set is fake: announcements can be staged, regional, or not yet published. Conversely, a polished product image or a retailer page does not establish that LEGO has approved the name, number, release date, or preorder window.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Do not assign a general “leak accuracy” percentage. LEGO’s official pages explain announcements, set identification, and availability labels; they do not publish a statistic predicting how often leaked set lists are correct.

The evidence hierarchy to use

  1. LEGO Group newsroom or press release: establishes that LEGO has announced a product and may provide an announcement date, name, images, set number, release date, or preorder information.
  2. LEGO.com product page: establishes the identity and current availability status of a specific set in a specific market.
  3. LEGO.com help pages: define labels such as Pre-Order and Coming Soon, and explain set numbers.
  4. Independent retailer listing: establishes only what that seller currently offers under its own terms. It does not prove that LEGO or other retailers are accepting orders.
  5. Leak, social post, or fan spreadsheet: a lead for investigation, not confirmation.

Keep those levels separate when you write or share your findings. “LEGO announced the set” and “a retailer is taking orders” are two different statements that require two different checks.

Step 1: Look for an official LEGO announcement

Search the newsroom and product announcements

Start with the LEGO Group’s official newsroom and announcement pages. Search the claimed set name, theme, character, and any release date shown in the leak. Read the complete announcement rather than relying on a search-result snippet. Record the publication date and every identifying detail it supplies.

An official announcement may confirm a product without opening sales. It can also use a working title, omit a set number, or describe a launch generally. Treat only the details actually present on the announcement as confirmed.

Compare the leak line by line

  • Does the official name match, including punctuation and theme?
  • Is the set number present, and does it match the leak?
  • Do the images, piece information, characters, or other descriptions correspond?
  • Does LEGO state a release date or preorder date?
  • Is the announcement for the same market as the page you plan to use?

If no announcement matches, use precise wording: “LEGO has not confirmed this claim in the official sources checked.” Do not call it definitively false unless LEGO publishes information that contradicts it.

Step 2: Verify the set number and identity

Why the number matters

Names are not reliable identifiers. LEGO explains, “We use numbers as a quick and convenient way to instantly identify any LEGO set.” Similar names can refer to different products, editions, or markets. The number appears on LEGO product pages and on packaging and instructions.

Search the number on LEGO.com

  1. Copy the complete set number from the leak, including every digit.
  2. Search that number on the LEGO Shop for the market you intend to use.
  3. Open the result and compare the official product name with the leaked name.
  4. Check the product images and other details for an identity match.
  5. Save the product-page address and note the date and market you checked.

A matching number and name on an official product page are strong identity evidence, but they do not automatically mean the set can be ordered. Availability is a separate check.

If the leak has no number

Do not invent a number from an unsourced list or infer one from a similar product. Report that the identity has not been independently matched to an official LEGO product page. Wait for an announcement or an official catalog entry before treating the item as identified.

Step 3: Read the actual availability label

“Pre-Order” means an order can be placed

LEGO’s UK help guidance says a Pre-Order item can be ordered before release and that shipping starts on the preorder date. The live product page for the exact set is the relevant test. It should show the Pre-Order status and a stated shipping or release date before you describe a LEGO.com preorder as available.

“Coming Soon” is not the same status

LEGO distinguishes Coming Soon from Pre-Order. A Coming Soon listing means the set has not been released; it does not, by itself, show that an order can be placed. A catalog page that groups products under Coming Soon is therefore insufficient evidence of preorder access for any particular set.

The LEGO Group’s UK wording is: “The set is coming soon and available to pre-order! It’s not out yet, but you can still place your order and we’ll start shipping sets on the pre-order date.” That explanation is from LEGO.com UK. Check the local LEGO site for the terms and dates that apply to your market.

Record the market and date

Availability is product- and market-specific and can change. Write down whether you checked the US, UK, or another regional LEGO site, the page’s exact label, the stated shipping date, and the date you observed it. A status seen on one regional site is not a universal guarantee for every country.

Use this comparison when two listings conflict

Check Official LEGO page Independent retailer page What a mismatch means
Announcement Newsroom or press release may confirm the product May list an item without an announcement Retailer copy alone does not establish an official announcement
Set number and name Use the number and product details as the identity reference Should reproduce the exact number and name Different numbers or names require investigation before ordering
Availability label Pre-Order, Coming Soon, or another current status Seller’s own preorder or stock wording One seller’s label does not override LEGO’s status or prove broad availability
Shipping date Date shown for that market and product Seller’s expected dispatch or delivery date Different dates may reflect separate inventory or terms; do not merge them
Seller and condition LEGO’s own store Independent seller; item may be new or used Confirm who is selling and the condition before paying
Price and order terms Terms displayed by LEGO for that market Retailer’s price, deposit, cancellation, and delivery rules A listing can be genuine while its terms differ from LEGO’s

Step 4: Verify a preorder from another retailer

If you intend to buy from a seller other than LEGO, perform a separate check on that seller’s own website. LEGO states that independent retailer sites are not LEGO websites and that their products may be new or used.

  1. Search the retailer for the exact set number, not only the leaked name.
  2. Confirm that the product title, number, images, and description refer to the same set.
  3. Read whether the page says preorder, in stock, backorder, or merely coming soon.
  4. Find the expected shipping or dispatch date and whether it is an estimate.
  5. Identify the actual seller, especially when a marketplace hosts several sellers.
  6. Read payment, deposit, cancellation, refund, and price-change terms before submitting an order.
  7. Check whether the item is described as new, used, or open-box.
  8. Record the country, currency, and date of the listing.

The available evidence does not establish a universal preorder policy for independent retailers. A listing at one store proves only that store’s current offer under its terms; it does not show that every retailer, or LEGO itself, is accepting orders.

Costs and terms to check before you pay

Verification is not complete when the name and number match. Compare the current price and the complete order terms on the page where you will actually buy. A retailer may request a deposit, allow or prohibit cancellation, reserve the right to change a price, or give a dispatch estimate rather than a guaranteed date. Those are seller-specific conditions, not LEGO-wide rules.

Write down the currency and the listed price at the time of the check. If two pages show different prices, report both rather than presenting one as the universal price. Likewise, distinguish a shipping date from a delivery date: the LEGO guidance describes when shipping starts, while a retailer may describe when it expects to dispatch or deliver. Do not turn either date into a guarantee for another market.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For marketplace listings, identify the business or individual that will fulfill the order. The marketplace name alone does not tell you whether the item is new, used, or open-box. Read the seller’s condition statement and cancellation and refund language before entering payment details. If the page does not clearly identify the set number or seller, treat the offer as unresolved rather than filling in the missing information from the leak.

Regional and timing edge cases

A legitimate product can have different statuses in different markets. For example, a UK LEGO page could show Pre-Order while a US page still shows Coming Soon, or a retailer could publish an estimated date before LEGO posts a local announcement. That difference is not automatically evidence of a counterfeit listing; it means you must report the market and status separately.

Use the regional LEGO site for the country where the order will be placed. An announcement, price, or preorder date on another regional site can be useful context, but it does not establish that the same checkout option exists locally. When a regional page changes, update your record instead of relying on an older catalog result. The page status is a current observation, not a permanent promise.

Timing also matters when sharing a link. A product can move from Coming Soon to Pre-Order, from Pre-Order to unavailable, or from an announced product to a released product. Include the date of your check in any post, article, or message so readers know when the statement was true.

A practical decision framework

When every check matches

You can describe the set as officially announced when the newsroom or another official announcement confirms it, and as identified when the set number and name match the official product page. You can describe a LEGO.com preorder as currently available only when that product page shows Pre-Order and a shipping date for the market checked.

When LEGO has announced it but preorder is closed

State both facts separately: LEGO has announced the set, but the current product page does not offer a preorder. A Coming Soon label, an out-of-stock message, or a page without an order control is not evidence that you can reserve it.

When a retailer lists it but LEGO does not

Call the retailer listing unconfirmed by LEGO in the official sources checked. Verify the seller’s identity, terms, and condition, and avoid presenting its page as proof that the leaked set is genuine.

When the number or name conflicts

Pause the order. Explain exactly what differs—number, name, image, market, or date—and use the official LEGO product page as the identity reference. Do not “correct” the leak by guessing which number was intended.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

When the set is absent everywhere official

Keep the claim in the rumor category. You may continue monitoring the newsroom and official Shop, but do not publish a preorder link or imply that the product is confirmed.

How to document your verification

A short record prevents a changing page from being mistaken for permanent proof. For each claimed set, capture:

  • the leaked name and set number exactly as received;
  • the official announcement title and publication date, if one exists;
  • the LEGO product-page name, number, market, and current status;
  • the shipping or release date displayed on that page;
  • the independent retailer’s seller name, condition, price, and order terms, if applicable;
  • the date and time of each check.

When reporting results, separate confirmed facts from observations: “The official page shows Pre-Order in the UK on [date]” is different from “The set will be available everywhere on [date].” The first is a recorded page status; the second is a claim the evidence does not establish.

Common mistakes that lead to bad preorders

Confusing a catalog category with an order window

Coming Soon is a catalog status, not proof that checkout is open. Always open the individual product page and look for Pre-Order and the shipping date.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Treating a leaked number as official

A number in a spreadsheet is only a claim until it matches an official LEGO page. If there is no match, leave the identity unresolved.

Assuming one region represents all regions

LEGO pages and preorder terms can differ by market. Record the regional site and check the site where you will actually place the order.

Assuming a retailer is an extension of LEGO

Independent retailers set their own listings and terms. Confirm the seller, product condition, shipping date, and cancellation policy directly with that retailer.

Turning uncertainty into a false verdict

“Not confirmed by LEGO in the sources checked” is accurate. “Fake” or “confirmed false” goes beyond the evidence unless an official page directly contradicts the claim.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Repeating an unsupported accuracy statistic

No official source establishes an overall success rate for leaked LEGO set lists. Do not attach a percentage to a particular leak without a published method and data that measured it.

Printable verification checklist

  • □ I searched the LEGO Group newsroom and official product announcements.
  • □ I recorded the announcement date and the details LEGO actually published.
  • □ I matched the complete set number to an official LEGO product page.
  • □ The official product name, images, and other details match the claim.
  • □ I checked the exact regional LEGO site where I intend to buy.
  • □ The individual page says Pre-Order, not merely Coming Soon.
  • □ The page states a shipping or preorder date.
  • □ For a third-party seller, I verified the seller, condition, price, shipping date, and order terms independently.
  • □ I recorded the date of each check and kept confirmed facts separate from rumor.

What you can safely say about a leak

Use wording that reflects the evidence level. For example:

  • “LEGO has announced the set, and the number and name match the official product page.”
  • “The LEGO.com page currently shows Pre-Order and lists shipping from the stated date in the checked market.”
  • “LEGO has announced the set, but this retailer has not opened preorders.”
  • “The claim is not confirmed by LEGO in the official sources checked.”

Avoid saying that a rumor is “confirmed” merely because a retailer lists it, or that a product is “available to preorder” merely because it appears under Coming Soon. Those distinctions protect readers from paying against an identity, date, or seller that has not been verified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a leaked LEGO set list real if a retailer has it listed?

Not necessarily. A retailer listing shows what that seller currently offers, not that LEGO has announced or approved the product. Match the exact set number and name to LEGO’s newsroom and official product page, then review the retailer’s own seller, condition, price, shipping date, and order terms.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How do I verify a LEGO set number?

Search the complete number on the LEGO Shop for the market where you plan to buy. Compare the resulting official product name, images, and other details with the leak. LEGO says set numbers are used to identify sets and appear on product pages, packaging, and instructions.

Does “Coming Soon” mean I can preorder a LEGO set?

No. LEGO distinguishes Coming Soon from Pre-Order. Coming Soon indicates that the set has not been released; only the individual product page’s Pre-Order label and stated shipping date show that LEGO.com is accepting an order in that market.

Can LEGO announce a set before opening preorders?

Yes. An announcement confirms that LEGO has published information about a product, but it does not automatically open checkout. Check the exact product page for the current availability label and date.

What if the UK page says Pre-Order but my local LEGO site says Coming Soon?

Report the statuses separately and use the site for the market where you will order. LEGO availability is product- and market-specific, so one regional page is not a universal guarantee for another country.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is a preorder from an independent retailer covered by LEGO’s preorder terms?

No. Independent retailers are separate websites with their own listings and conditions. Confirm the seller, whether the item is new or used, the expected shipping date, price, deposit, cancellation, refund, and price-change rules directly with that retailer.

How should I describe a set that LEGO has not listed?

Say that it is not confirmed by LEGO in the official sources checked. Do not call it definitively fake unless an official LEGO page contradicts the claim, and do not publish a preorder link as if the product were verified.

Is there an official percentage showing how accurate LEGO leaks are?

No general accuracy rate is provided by the LEGO pages used for identification, announcements, and availability. Avoid assigning a percentage to a leak without a published method and data measuring that specific claim.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Treat a leaked LEGO list as a lead, not an order opportunity. Confirm the announcement, match the complete set number and name on LEGO.com, and call a LEGO.com preorder available only when the exact regional product page says Pre-Order and shows a shipping date. For any other seller, verify that seller’s identity, condition, price, date, and terms separately, and record when you checked.
