The Witcher 3’s debug console is a PC-only feature: enable it by adding DBGConsoleOn=true to the game’s general.ini file, then open the console and enter a command. The reference below groups useful commands by what they do. Command behavior has not been confirmed for every Remastered PC patch, so save before experimenting.

Enable and open the PC debug console

The console is disabled by default. CD PROJEKT RED’s REDkit documentation gives this baseline setup for the game’s configuration file; it predates Remastered, so treat it as the official documented method rather than a guarantee for every current build (REDkit documentation, updated June 6, 2024).

  1. Open the game installation directory and go to bin/config/base.
  2. Open general.ini in a text editor.
  3. Add DBGConsoleOn=true on a new line, then save the file.
  4. Launch the game and press ~ to open the console. Type a command and press Enter to submit it.

If ~ does not open it, a September 29, 2026 guide suggests trying @ or #. Keyboard layouts can assign these symbols to different physical keys, so use the key that produces the symbol on your active layout. The file-editing and alternate-key instructions come from the guide, not a patch-by-patch test (Beebom’s command guide).

Witcher 3 PC console command list

The commands below are reported in Beebom’s September 29, 2026 reference. They are useful syntax examples, not independently verified guarantees for every Remastered update. Preserve the parentheses, values, and quoted arguments shown; some commands need an item, skill, or other identifier.

Do these commands work on PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch?

This workflow is for the PC installation because it requires editing the PC game’s general.ini file and using its debug console. Beebom’s guide says the commands do not work on PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch; the available information does not establish an equivalent command interface on those platforms (Beebom).

CD PROJEKT RED announced Remastered on August 25, 2026, with a September 29 launch date, listing PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and a native Nintendo Switch 2 version, as well as a Battle.net release (CD PROJEKT RED announcement). Console versions being available does not make this PC file-editing method applicable to them.

Troubleshooting when the console will not open

  • Check the file location: edit the installation’s bin/config/base/general.ini, not a document or user-settings file.
  • Check the setting: ensure DBGConsoleOn=true is on its own line and that the file was saved.
  • Try the symbol for your keyboard layout: press the key that produces ~; if that fails, try @ or #.
  • Confirm the platform: these steps describe the PC build, not a console edition.
  • Save before testing commands: the command list is secondary-source material, and commands have not been verified against every Remastered PC patch. Avoid relying on a command for an important save until you have confirmed its behavior in your own build.
