If your Galaxy Watch supports Wireless PowerShare, you can use a compatible Galaxy phone for a temporary charge. Samsung lists the Watch6, Watch5, Watch4 and Watch3 families as compatible; the Watch7, Watch Ultra and Watch8 series are not. For an ongoing solution, get the replacement charging dock made for your exact watch model.
Can a Galaxy phone charge your watch?
Sometimes. Samsung says some Galaxy watches can charge when placed on the back of a Galaxy phone using Wireless PowerShare. Both devices must support the feature: the watch must be a compatible generation, and the phone must support Wireless PowerShare. These compatibility details come from Samsung Support US guidance. A phone’s PowerShare feature is best treated as a stopgap when you already have a compatible phone, not as a dependable replacement for the watch’s dock. How to try Wireless PowerShare
- Check Samsung’s support information for your phone to confirm it supports Wireless PowerShare.
- Enable Wireless PowerShare on the phone, following the phone’s instructions.
- Place the compatible watch on the back of the phone, as Samsung describes in its charging guidance.
If charging does not begin, confirm that both the watch generation and phone support the feature, then reposition the watch on the phone. Samsung’s cited guidance does not establish a universal charging time or speed for this workaround.

What to use for regular charging
Choose a replacement Samsung charging dock or puck that matches your specific Galaxy Watch model. Samsung says the required dock type varies by watch model and that replacement docks are available. Check the model name in the watch’s settings or on its case before ordering, then verify that the replacement is intended for that exact model.
Do not assume a generic Qi pad will work: Samsung’s guidance does not say that every Qi charger is compatible with every Galaxy Watch. Nor does it establish that another manufacturer’s reverse-wireless feature or an improvised cable is a universal substitute.

If you have a Galaxy Fit band
Galaxy Fit is different from Galaxy Watch. Samsung says Galaxy Fit bands require their charging cradle and do not support other charging methods. A phone-sharing workaround for a compatible Galaxy Watch should not be assumed to work with a Fit band.
