To amplify a weapon in ARC Raiders, progress the Raider Outpost and its Gunsmith and Research Station to level 4, bring the weapon to tier IV, then use the Gunsmith’s Weapon Upgrades screen and choose Amplify. You’ll need an Amplification Module that matches the weapon’s rarity. Afterward, use the level 4 Research Station to unlock an upgrade type, then buy the weapon’s available tree nodes with their listed materials. Amplification is a branching system that can change a weapon’s behavior, not a single universal damage boost. Costs, module drops, and upgrade trees can change, so check the live station screens before committing resources.
What Weapon Amplification does
Weapon Amplification is a high-tier weapon progression system accessed through the Raider Outpost. Its purpose is to let you specialize a weapon through branching abilities and enhancements. Depending on the available tree, an amplified weapon may handle or fire differently rather than simply receiving a larger version of the same stat bonus.
Embark Studios introduced the system with the Frozen Trail update. Its feature description gave examples of the kinds of changes it was designed to support: a fully automatic Burletta, a scoped Renegade, or a Rattler with incendiary rounds and a 64-round drum magazine. Those are examples of the system’s intended variety, not a promise that every weapon has those exact options today. Embark described the initial rollout as covering 15 weapons, with more planned.
Recommended Free Tools
The system has two connected parts. First, a matching Amplification Module lets you amplify an eligible weapon at the Gunsmith. Second, the Research Station lets you unlock upgrade types, and the weapon’s tree lets you purchase specific nodes. Having a module alone does not unlock every branch or pay for every node.

That distinction matters when planning what to collect. The module is tied to the act of amplifying an eligible weapon; research points and ARC parts are used for Research Station tasks that unlock an upgrade type; and nodes have their own listed materials. Treat those as separate steps and check each screen for its own requirements. A module in your inventory does not make a locked research type available, and completing research does not automatically buy every node in a weapon’s tree.
What you need before you start
- Access to the Raider Outpost and enough Outpost progression to upgrade its stations to level 4.
- A Gunsmith upgraded to level 4 and a Research Station upgraded to level 4.
- The weapon you want to amplify at tier IV.
- An Amplification Module whose mark matches that weapon’s rarity.
- The research points, ARC parts, and other materials listed for the research and weapon nodes you intend to unlock.
The progression guide for the current feature describes level 4 as the point at which the relevant station upgrades and weapon amplification become available. Treat that as the reported progression requirement, and use the live interface to confirm any prerequisites or materials shown for your account. The exact costs are not established here and may change with patches.
Before setting out to gather anything, identify the specific weapon and the result you want. That gives you a way to read the requirements in context: check whether the weapon is tier IV, whether its rarity matches the module mark you have, and whether the node path you want is accessible. If you have not chosen a goal yet, avoid spending scarce materials simply because a node is available. Branches can have different effects and may rule out one another.

1. Unlock the Raider Outpost
The reported Outpost project has three stages: photograph a farmland house near Ruined Homestead on Blue Gate, hand in construction materials, and deal damage to flying ARC and a Bully. Complete the objectives shown in your project interface; the exact required quantities and any project details can be checked there.
Use the project panel as your checklist rather than assuming you can skip an objective or that a remembered quantity still applies. This project is the first gate in a longer progression chain; finishing it gives you access to the Outpost, but does not by itself unlock weapon amplification.
2. Expand the Outpost to level 4
Continue Outpost progression until it reaches level 4. The current guide identifies this as the threshold that enables level IV station upgrades. If a station still cannot be upgraded, check the Outpost level and the station’s displayed prerequisites rather than assuming the weapon itself is the only blocker.
3. Upgrade the Gunsmith and Research Station
Bring both the Gunsmith and the Research Station to level 4. The Gunsmith’s final upgrade is reported to require an Emperor Modulator among other materials. Check the upgrade panel for the complete, current list and quantities; do not farm from an assumed cost list, because the available evidence does not establish exact amounts.
These are two separate station upgrades, so confirm the level of each rather than treating a level 4 Outpost as sufficient on its own. The Gunsmith handles weapon eligibility and amplification, while the Research Station handles research tasks and access to upgrade types. If one screen remains locked, inspect that station’s own level and requirements.

4. Bring the weapon to tier IV
Use the Gunsmith’s weapon upgrade progression to take your chosen gun to tier IV. Tier IV is the reported prerequisite for amplification. If Amplify is unavailable, verify the weapon tier and Gunsmith level before spending time searching for a different menu.
Check the tier of the particular weapon you intend to use. It is not enough that another gun in your inventory is tier IV, and a matching module does not replace this requirement.
5. Amplify at the Gunsmith
- At the Raider Outpost, interact with the level 4 Gunsmith.
- Open Weapon Upgrades and select the eligible tier IV weapon.
- Choose Amplify.
- Check the required Amplification Module mark against the weapon’s rarity, then confirm only if the interface shows the intended match and cost.
The module is the item used for this amplification step; it is not a substitute for station progression, research unlocks, or the materials needed for weapon-specific nodes. Before confirming, make sure the selected weapon is the one you mean to invest in.
Take a moment at the confirmation screen to verify both the weapon and the module requirement. The system is intended to alter a weapon’s options through a branching progression, so this is a commitment to the selected gun rather than a general upgrade applied to your whole inventory. If the item, mark, or displayed cost is unexpected, back out and review the relevant tooltip or station panel before confirming.
6. Unlock an upgrade type at the Research Station
Go to the level 4 Research Station and review its research tasks. Completing tasks and paying the displayed research points and ARC parts unlocks an upgrade type. This research unlock and the weapon’s subsequent node purchases are distinct costs: opening access to a type does not mean every node in that type is already owned.
Read the task and payment shown for the type you want before committing. The available evidence does not establish a universal price or list every current research path, so use the Research Station itself for the live requirement. If a weapon node still appears unavailable after research, inspect its own prerequisites and material list rather than assuming research purchased it automatically.
7. Purchase the weapon’s nodes
Return to the amplified weapon’s tree and inspect its available nodes. Buy a node only after checking its prerequisites, listed materials, and whether choosing it rules out another branch. Trees and costs are weapon-specific; the live interface is the authoritative place to see what is currently available.

Amplification Modules: marks and reported sources
The current guide reports five module marks, Mk. I through Mk. V, aligned with weapon rarity from common through legendary. Match the mark shown on the module tooltip to the rarity shown for the weapon. Verify both in your inventory or at the Gunsmith before taking a run or confirming an expenditure.
| Module mark | Reported rarity match | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Mk. I | Common | Confirm the module tooltip and the selected weapon’s rarity. |
| Mk. II | Uncommon | Confirm the module tooltip and the selected weapon’s rarity. |
| Mk. III | Rare | Confirm the module tooltip and the selected weapon’s rarity. |
| Mk. IV | Epic | Confirm the module tooltip and the selected weapon’s rarity. |
| Mk. V | Legendary | Confirm the module tooltip and the selected weapon’s rarity. |
These rarity matches are reported by a current third-party guide, not a guarantee that the labels or rules will remain unchanged. If the tooltip or Gunsmith indicates a different requirement in your current version, follow the in-game requirement.
Where the current guide says modules can be found
The guide names the Frigate and the inside of the fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass as module sources. Drop rates, exact spawn behavior, and availability are not established, and these locations can be affected by game updates. Treat them as places to investigate, not a guaranteed farming route. Check the current map and in-game loot before building a run around a particular mark.
The named locations do not establish that every module mark will appear there, or that a module will drop on every visit. If you are trying to obtain a specific mark, first confirm which one the target weapon needs, then assess whether the location is currently available and worth the risk of the run. Do not assume the reported source guarantees the rarity you need.
How to choose an upgrade branch
There is no supported universal best amplification path. The right choice depends on the job you want the gun to do, the trade-offs shown in its tree, and the materials you are willing to invest. A branch that changes firing behavior may be excellent for one use and a poor fit for another.
- Target: Decide whether you want the weapon for ARC armor or weak points, other Raiders, or utility. Do not assume one change is optimal against every target.
- Behavior: Read the exact handling and firing effects on each node. A conversion such as an automatic firing mode or a scope changes how you use the gun, not just a number in its stats.
- Magazine and reload: If a branch changes magazine capacity or ammunition, consider the displayed reload and ammunition trade-offs as well as the benefit of carrying more rounds.
- Prerequisites and exclusivity: Check what must be unlocked first and whether selecting a node prevents access to another option. Some tree choices are mutually exclusive.
- Cost: Compare the research points, ARC parts, and node materials currently displayed. Research access and node purchases can each require investment.
- Risk: Consider the amplified weapon’s durability and the risk of taking it into the next raid before spending scarce resources.
For example, if you want a weapon that behaves differently rather than a straightforward stat improvement, inspect whether its current tree offers the relevant firing, sight, ammunition, or magazine option. The official examples of an automatic Burletta, scoped Renegade, and incendiary, 64-round Rattler illustrate the range of possible changes, but they do not establish the present-day nodes or costs for every gun. Use the actual weapon tree for that decision.
A practical comparison between two candidate paths starts with the raid role, then moves to the actual trade-offs. Ask whether you are tuning for ARC armor or weak points, fights with other Raiders, or a utility role. Next compare how each option changes firing and handling; if one affects ammunition or magazine capacity, weigh that against the reload and ammunition trade-offs shown in the interface. Finally, compare prerequisites, exclusive choices, research requirements, node materials, and durability risk. This approach lets you choose for a stated playstyle without mistaking a larger magazine or altered firing mode for a universally better build.

Durability and raid risk
A current guide reports that amplified weapons gain maximum durability, while weapons looted from another player have very little durability remaining. These are patch-sensitive mechanics, and the guide does not establish a dependable numeric amount or a permanent rule. Check the weapon’s condition and current repair information in game rather than planning around a specific durability value.
That matters when deciding whether to bring an expensive amplified weapon into a high-risk raid. Consider the likely value of the weapon’s upgrade against the possibility of losing access to it or needing repairs. If you are unsure how its current durability and repair rules work, verify those details in the interface before relying on it for a costly run.
Durability should be considered alongside the branch’s value, not after the build is complete. A specialized weapon may be worth the investment for the way you intend to use it, but the cost of upgrading does not make it automatically the right choice for every raid. Check the current condition before deploying and do not assume a looted amplified weapon is ready to use: the reported low durability on player-looted weapons makes its actual state especially important to inspect.
Troubleshooting: why Amplify or a node may be unavailable
- Amplify does not appear: Confirm the Gunsmith is level 4, the selected weapon is tier IV, and the Gunsmith is showing that weapon under Weapon Upgrades.
- The module is rejected: Compare the weapon rarity with the module mark in its tooltip. The reported system pairs Mk. I–V with common–legendary rarity, respectively.
- The upgrade type is locked: Review the Research Station’s tasks and displayed research-point and ARC-part requirements. A module does not unlock research types.
- A weapon node cannot be bought: Check whether its upgrade type has been researched, whether prerequisite nodes are missing, and whether you have the materials shown for that node.
- A different branch is unavailable: Inspect the tree for mutually exclusive choices. A previous selection may block another path.
- Your displayed costs or options differ from a guide: Use the current in-game Gunsmith and Research Station screens. Costs, trees, module drops, and durability behavior may be revised.
Work through the checks in order: Outpost and station progression first, weapon tier next, then module match. Once the weapon is amplified, check research access and the node’s separate prerequisites and materials. This separates an eligibility problem from a research lock or an unaffordable node, so you can identify what is actually missing instead of repeating a run for the wrong item.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to verify before spending materials
Because exact costs and all current weapon trees are not established in the published feature description, a short check at the Outpost can prevent a wasted run or an unintended branch choice:
- Open the chosen weapon’s upgrade tree and read each node’s effect, prerequisite, material cost, and exclusivity before selecting a path.
- At the Gunsmith, confirm the weapon is tier IV and that the Amplification Module mark matches its rarity.
- At the Research Station, distinguish the cost to unlock an upgrade type from the cost to buy a weapon node.
- Check the weapon’s current durability and repair information before carrying a high-investment build into a raid.
- For a planned module run, confirm the location and loot expectations in the current game instead of treating reported drops as guaranteed.
This approach keeps the decision tied to the current build of the game: the Gunsmith determines eligibility and module matching, the Research Station governs unlocks, and the weapon tree shows the effects and costs of the choices available to that weapon.
Embark Studios’ Frozen Trail feature description establishes the system’s purpose, its Research Workstation location, its behavior-changing examples, and its initial scope of 15 weapons, with more planned. The operational sequence, module locations, rarity matching, and durability details described here come from a current third-party progression guide and should be treated as subject to change. When the live interface differs, its displayed requirements and effects are the ones to use.

Where do I use Weapon Amplification?
Start at the Gunsmith in the Raider Outpost. Weapon amplification is selected through its Weapon Upgrades screen; the Research Station is used afterward to complete research tasks and unlock upgrade types.
What do I need to amplify a weapon?
The reported requirements are a level 4 Raider Outpost, level 4 Gunsmith and Research Station, a tier IV weapon, and an Amplification Module that matches the weapon’s rarity. Research points, ARC parts, and other listed materials are needed for research and weapon nodes.
Where do Amplification Modules drop?
A current third-party progression guide names the Frigate and the inside of the fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass. Drop rates, exact behavior, and which marks are available are not established, so check current in-game loot and map information rather than treating either location as a guaranteed farm.

Does an Amplification Module unlock a weapon’s whole upgrade tree?
No. The module is used to amplify an eligible weapon. Research tasks and payments at the Research Station unlock an upgrade type, while specific nodes have their own prerequisites and material costs.
Can I change my amplification branch later?
The available information does not establish whether or how branches can be changed. Because some choices may be mutually exclusive, inspect the current weapon tree and its confirmation details before spending materials.
Which Weapon Amplification path is best?
There is no universal best path established here. Compare the target you want to fight, firing and handling changes, magazine or ammunition trade-offs, prerequisites, exclusivity, costs, and durability risk against your playstyle.
Do amplified weapons have more durability?
A current guide reports that amplified weapons gain maximum durability and that player-looted weapons have very little durability remaining. These details may change; check the weapon’s current condition and repair information in game.
The Bottom Line
To amplify a weapon, meet the Outpost and station level requirements, bring the gun to tier IV, and use a rarity-matched module at the Gunsmith. Research upgrade types separately, then inspect the weapon tree before buying nodes: branches can change how a gun behaves, may exclude other choices, and have their own costs. Check the live interface for current costs, drops, and durability rules.
