VGGT-1B-Point on Replicate turns one or more photos—or a video—into 3D point data and, optionally, a downloadable GLB point-cloud file. You can try it in Replicate’s browser playground without setting up a local GPU; use the API when you need to repeat or automate runs. The point variant returns point maps and related data, not the depth-map output of the separate full VGGT model.
What VGGT-1B-Point does
VGGT stands for Visual Geometry Grounded Transformer. It is a feed-forward model that infers 3D information from views of a scene. A point map assigns 3D world coordinates to image locations; combined across views, those coordinates form a point cloud—a collection of points representing the scene. The Replicate listing says this variant omits the depth head because it is redundant with the point-map head.
The output can include an optional GLB file. GLB is a binary 3D file format that compatible 3D viewers can open. The response also includes JSON data for each image, with world points, confidence values, pose encoding, image details and original dimensions; a mask is optional. Meta’s broader VGGT project describes predictions including camera parameters, point maps, depth maps and 3D point tracks, but those broader capabilities should not be mistaken for outputs of this point variant. Replicate’s model listing and Meta’s VGGT repository describe the respective hosted variant and project.

The hosted model accepts one or more images or a video. Replicate lists JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, MP4, AVI and MOV as supported formats. It pads images and sampled video frames to a shared aspect ratio, then resizes them so the maximum dimension is 518 pixels.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Choose views of the same scene, keeping the subject visible. Different viewpoints can give the model more visual information, but the listing does not prescribe an optimal number of images or a guaranteed capture method.
- For video,
sampling_ratemeans every nth frame; the first and last frames are included. A lower sampling frequency means fewer intermediate frames are processed. There is no universally best setting established by the listing. - Use clear, relevant inputs and inspect the result rather than assuming that a particular photo or video will reconstruct successfully.
Try it in the Replicate playground
- Open the VGGT-1B-Point model page and use its playground.
- Upload supported image files or a supported video. Start with the default settings so you can see the model’s baseline output.
- Run the prediction and inspect the preview and returned files. If a GLB point cloud is available, download it and open it with a compatible 3D viewer. The per-image JSON data is also provided through output URLs.
The listing shows return_pcd enabled by default, along with to_base64 enabled, sampling_rate set to 24 and an alpha-channel blend option. Change advanced settings only when you have a specific reason to do so; in particular, the listed sampling rate is not a recommendation that applies to every video.
Automate a run with the API
For repeatable use, the model page provides Python, Node.js, HTTP API, Cog and Docker examples, as well as a pinned version identifier. Follow the example for your environment and use the exact model version shown there so your integration targets the intended release. Keep your Replicate API token secret; do not place it in public code or expose it in a client-side application. Hosted inference is billed, and the service’s terms govern data handling.

Choose between the playground, API and local workflow
| Route | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Replicate playground | A first experiment with a few images or a video | Hosted execution is straightforward, but each run has a variable charge. |
| Replicate API | Repeatable runs or integration into an application or workflow | Requires an API token and billed hosted inference. |
| Meta repository workflow | People who need to manage a local setup and compute themselves | Requires more setup and local compute management; checkpoint licensing differs by checkpoint. |
Meta’s repository documents its local Python workflow. Its licensing note distinguishes the commercial checkpoint, which permits commercial use under its applicable terms, from the original checkpoint, which is non-commercial. The Replicate listing says it uses VGGT-1B-Commercial weights. Check the exact terms for the checkpoint and your intended use before relying on either route commercially.
Understand the limits of the output
The Replicate listing does not provide a quantitative quality guarantee for this hosted point variant. Do not treat its output as a survey, a metric-scale measurement, or a finished, flawless 3D asset. Confidence values are model predictions, not independent verification; inspect the point cloud and JSON for gaps, distortions or inconsistent geometry.

For a point-cloud workflow, this variant returns world points and confidence data. If your task specifically requires depth-map output, do not assume this endpoint supplies it: the separate full vufinder/vggt-1b listing is a distinct model variant. Consult the relevant model page to confirm which output fields your workflow needs.
Cost and runtime are estimates, not guarantees
When checked on October 7, 2026, Replicate displayed an estimate of about $0.057 per run (about 17 runs per dollar) and typical completion in around 59 seconds on Nvidia L40S hardware. Replicate says both cost and prediction time vary with inputs. These are page estimates observed on that date, not fixed prices or a runtime promise; check the live listing before running a batch.
