If the microphone is missing
Check that voice input is enabled and that the keyboard toolbar is available. Samsung support documents both Samsung voice input and Google voice typing as built-in choices on devices sold in Canada. In that guidance, the route is Settings → General management → Keyboard list and default; enable the voice-input option you want, then return to a text field and look for the toolbar microphone. Samsung Canada support.
Samsung’s Korean support page gives a different example for selecting the voice-input engine: Settings → General → Samsung Keyboard settings → Voice input. These are regional examples, not one universal path. Samsung notes that labels and screens can vary by country, model, software, and app version. If the listed route does not match your device, look in Settings for Samsung Keyboard or Voice input. Samsung Korea support.

Choose Samsung voice input or Google voice typing
Samsung Canada describes two built-in voice-to-text options: Samsung voice input and Google voice typing. Select whichever is available in your settings, then check whether it offers the language you need. The cited support guidance does not establish a winner for accuracy, privacy, speed, or battery use, so choose based on availability and language support rather than an assumed performance difference.

Set the language you want to dictate in
If speech is not being recognized as expected, check the selected language in the voice-input settings. Samsung’s Colombia guidance for Samsung voice input describes choosing an input language and, where available, installing an offline language package. That availability is market- and device-specific, not a guarantee for every Galaxy model. Samsung Colombia support.
