To connect two headphones to a projector, first check the projector’s manual for simultaneous Bluetooth audio support. If it allows only one Bluetooth audio device, use a dual-link Bluetooth transmitter connected to a compatible 3.5 mm or optical audio output, or connect two wired headphones through a 3.5 mm splitter when the projector has a headphone jack.
Check the projector’s ports and audio limits first
Find the exact projector model and check its manual. Bluetooth menus, available audio outputs, and the number of devices that can play at once vary by model. A projector that can remember several paired devices may still allow only one to be connected for audio. Philips says this is the case for its documented projector, and Epson’s EH-LS650 documentation says Bluetooth audio cannot connect to multiple devices simultaneously (Philips support; Epson EH-LS650 documentation).
Identify the output you can use: Bluetooth audio, a 3.5 mm headphone/audio jack, optical (SPDIF), or HDMI ARC/eARC. Then check whether that output remains active when headphones are connected or Bluetooth audio is selected; some models mute their speakers or disable other outputs.

Use the projector’s Bluetooth, if it supports two outputs
Use native Bluetooth only when the manual confirms both Bluetooth audio output and two simultaneous headphone connections. On supported LG projectors, the setup is Sound Out → select the Bluetooth device. Sound will not play through Bluetooth unless Bluetooth is selected as the audio output. LG says its menus vary by model (LG support).

LG also identifies distance beyond 32 ft (10 m), obstacles, and wireless interference as possible causes of Bluetooth instability in its projector guidance. Treat that as LG-specific troubleshooting advice, not a universal range limit.
Use a dual-link Bluetooth transmitter
If the projector has a usable optical or 3.5 mm audio output but cannot send audio to two Bluetooth headphones itself, a dual-link transmitter is usually the most direct wireless option. Connect the projector output to the transmitter’s matching input, then pair each headphone with the transmitter according to its instructions.

- SHARE AUDIO WITH 2 HEADPHONES – Turn one 3.5mm audio jack into two headphone outputs. Share the same music, movies, lessons, or gaming audio with a friend, family member, or child without using the device speaker.
- CLEAR DUAL STEREO AUDIO – Both output ports deliver full left-and-right stereo sound. 24K gold-plated connectors and oxygen-free copper wires help maintain a stable connection and clear everyday audio.
- 11-INCH CABLE FOR COMFORTABLE SHARING – The 11-inch headphone splitter gives two listeners more room to sit comfortably while remaining compact enough for airplane travel, road trips, school, home, or daily carry.
- BRAIDED FOR EVERYDAY DURABILITY – The nylon-braided cable helps resist tangling and daily wear. Reinforced aluminum housings add support around the connectors where ordinary audio cables are often bent or pulled.
- WORKS WITH STANDARD 3.5MM DEVICES – Compatible with PCs, laptops, tablets, phones, Nintendo Switch, MP3 players, and powered speakers with a 3.5mm audio jack. Audio output only; microphone, calls, gaming chat, inline controls, and separate volume adjustment are not supported.
For example, Avantree’s Oasis Plus 2 product page describes optical and AUX inputs and simultaneous connections to two Bluetooth headphones. Its optical input requires PCM audio, and its page says HDMI ARC/eARC passthrough is unsupported. Check the projector’s audio settings and the transmitter’s specifications before buying: matching plugs alone do not ensure that the audio format is compatible (Avantree Oasis Plus 2).
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesAvantree’s Audikast 3 is another manufacturer-described dual-link transmitter with optical and AUX inputs; its page lists PCM/LPCM optical support (Avantree Audikast 3). These product specifications do not establish compatibility with every projector or headphone.

Split a wired headphone output
If the projector has a compatible 3.5 mm headphone output and both listeners are willing to use wired headphones, a 3.5 mm splitter can route the same audio signal to two headphones. Check the projector’s manual for the port type and volume controls. Plugging in headphones may turn off the built-in speaker: Philips documents this behavior for its projector (Philips support). Epson’s EF22 FAQ lists a headphone audio-out port (Epson EF22 FAQ).
Consider HDMI audio extraction only when needed
An HDMI audio extractor may help if the projector lacks a usable audio output, but whether it works depends on the whole signal chain. Check the source device, video resolution and refresh rate, extractor outputs, and supported audio format. There is no single extractor setup established for all projectors, so choose one only after confirming the details of your equipment.

Match the audio format and account for delay
Optical audio compatibility depends on the format, not just the cable. The Oasis Plus 2 page specifies PCM-only optical input, while Optoma describes 2-channel LPCM for its wired outputs (Avantree Oasis Plus 2; Optoma support). Check the projector’s audio-output settings and the transmitter’s supported formats; a format mismatch can prevent sound from playing.
Bluetooth can introduce audio delay. Epson warns that Bluetooth output may be delayed (Epson EH-LS650 documentation). A transmitter’s low-latency claim depends on compatible headphones and codecs at both ends. Avantree advertises less than 40 ms for compatible Oasis Plus 2 configurations; that is a manufacturer claim, not an independently established result for every pairing (Avantree Oasis Plus 2).
Quick Recap
Set up and troubleshoot the connection
- Check the model and manual. Confirm which audio outputs the projector has and whether it supports two simultaneous Bluetooth headphones.
- Choose the matching path. Use native Bluetooth if two-device output is confirmed; otherwise, match a dual-link transmitter to the projector’s optical or 3.5 mm output, or use a splitter for two wired headphones.
- Check audio-format requirements. For an optical transmitter, confirm the projector can output a format the transmitter supports, such as PCM where required.
- Connect and pair. Follow the projector’s or transmitter’s instructions. If using a transmitter, pair each headphone to the transmitter rather than assuming the projector will pair to both.
- Select the correct output and test. Choose Bluetooth output where required, then play audio and check both headphones. If there is no sound, recheck the selected output, port match, and audio format.
- Set volume carefully. Lower the volume before connecting, then raise it to a comfortable level. Philips includes this hearing-safety advice in its projector documentation (Philips support).
- If one headphone works but the other does not, verify that the device or transmitter supports two simultaneous connections; Bluetooth support alone does not mean dual output.
- If the picture and sound are out of sync, check whether the headphones and transmitter share a low-latency codec. Codec support and pairing determine whether latency can be reduced.
- If the projector’s speakers stop playing, check whether selecting Bluetooth or inserting a wired plug disables other audio outputs on that model.
- If Bluetooth is unstable, reduce distance and obstructions and check for wireless interference. LG’s 32 ft (10 m) guidance applies to its projector support, not every Bluetooth setup.
