Samsung Galaxy Enhance-X can apply targeted corrections to an existing photo without requiring a desktop editor. Open the app, choose a picture, select an effect that matches the visible problem, adjust the intensity when a control is offered, compare the result with the original, and save only when the change looks better. The current Samsung US support guidance lists Android 14 with One UI 6.0 or later as the phone software baseline, although Galaxy Store availability can vary by model and region.
What Galaxy Enhance-X does
Galaxy Enhance-X is a Samsung photo-enhancement app for editing pictures already stored on a compatible Galaxy phone. Its effects are aimed at recognizable problems: a dark exposure, mild blur, excess softness, display moiré, shadows, reflections, lens distortion, aging or damage, and low-resolution files. The app also includes broader automatic enhancement and portrait-oriented tools.
It is not the same feature set as the AI editing tools built into Samsung Gallery. Enhance-X is a separate app distributed through Galaxy Store. Gallery Galaxy AI features have their own software, account, network, output-size and watermark conditions, described later in this guide.

Check compatibility before installing
Samsung’s current US support information says Galaxy Enhance-X is supported on Galaxy phones running Android 14 and One UI 6.0 or later. Search for the app in Galaxy Store on the specific phone you intend to use; model and regional availability can differ, so a compatible software version does not guarantee that the listing will appear in every market.

Install Enhance-X and open a photo
- Open Galaxy Store on your Galaxy phone.
- Search for Galaxy Enhance-X. If it is listed for the device, install it or update the existing installation.
- Launch Enhance-X and use its image-selection control to choose a picture from the phone.
- Wait for the image and available effects to load. The labels or position of controls can change with the phone model and software version.
If the app does not appear, first confirm the phone’s Android and One UI versions, then try the Galaxy Store search again while signed in to the Samsung account used on that phone. If the listing is still absent, the model or region may not currently be supported; the older 2023 launch list cannot establish current availability.
The basic Enhance-X workflow
Every edit follows the same decision cycle: identify the visible defect, choose the narrowest useful effect, inspect the before-and-after view, and save only a result you would actually keep.
- Select the image. Tap the image-selection control and open the photo you want to improve.
- Choose an effect. Samsung’s documented standard effects include HDR, Brighten, Remove blur and Sharpen. Open the further-effects menu to see additional tools available in that installation.
- Let the effect run or set its strength. Some effects process automatically. Others provide an intensity slider. A tool can also remain unavailable until Enhance-X detects a condition it can address.
- Inspect the whole frame. Look at faces, fine text, edges and smooth areas such as skies or walls. A technically stronger-looking edge is not necessarily a more natural photograph.
- Compare with the original. Move the before-and-after divider across the image. Check several important areas, not just the part that first caught your eye.
- Save the result. When the edited version is preferable, use the app’s save command. If it is not, lower the effect, try a different tool or leave the original unchanged.
Because controls are not uniform, do not assume that every effect has a slider, a manual brush or the same save behavior. Follow the controls shown for the selected tool on that phone.

Which effect should you choose?
Start with the visible symptom rather than selecting the most powerful-sounding option. The table below maps common problems to Samsung’s documented tools and the decision to make after processing.

How to sharpen a blurry photo without making it look fake
Choose the correction that matches the blur
Open the picture and try Remove blur when the subject is generally soft. If the image is already reasonably focused but lacks crisp edge definition, try Sharpen instead. Use Magic when noise, blur and low detail occur together and you want a one-tap general pass.

Set a restrained intensity
If the selected effect exposes a slider, begin near the lower end and increase it gradually. Stop when important details become clearer, not when every edge becomes maximally hard. Sharpening can emphasize sensor noise, compression blocks and halos around high-contrast objects.
Check difficult areas before saving
Move the divider over eyes, hair, foliage, small lettering and diagonal lines. If texture turns into repeating patterns or outlines appear around objects, reduce the strength or compare another effect. A mild correction that preserves natural texture is preferable to a dramatic but artificial result.

Use Brighten for a straightforward dark frame
Select Brighten when the primary complaint is insufficient light. Inspect both the subject and the brightest parts of the frame after processing. Keep the adjustment only if the subject becomes easier to see without an unattractive loss of highlight detail.
Try HDR when the scene contains both deep shadows and bright areas
HDR is a better candidate when a single exposure contains a wide range between dark and bright regions. Compare the result with the original across the entire frame. If clouds, skin or walls acquire an overly processed appearance, return to a weaker setting or use Brighten instead.
Use Old Photo for age-related damage
For an old or damaged image, choose Old Photo if it is offered in the further-effects menu. Inspect the repaired borders, faces and areas where information is missing. Restoration can improve the appearance of a print or scan, but it cannot guarantee recovery of details that were never captured.

Fix display photographs, shadows and reflections
Remove moiré from a screen photo
Photographing a laptop, television or monitor can create repeating wavy patterns that were not present in the displayed image. Select Fix Moiré and compare text, icons and straight lines before saving. If the correction softens the content you wanted to read, the original may be more useful than an aggressive cleanup.
Reduce a silhouette or reflection
Use Remove Shadows for an unwanted dark shape and Remove Reflection for glare or a reflected object when those controls are available. Examine the repaired region against nearby textures and edges. A correction that removes the obstruction but creates a visibly repeated or smeared background needs less intensity or should be discarded.
Correct lens shape
Choose Fix Lens Distortion when buildings, horizons or other straight subjects bow toward the edges. Compare the corrected geometry with the original and make sure the result still includes the composition you intended.
Improve a low-resolution or compressed image
Increase resolution is intended for small source files. Samsung’s June 20, 2023 Global Newsroom description says it can increase images under 1 MP by up to four times. The wording describes a maximum capability, not a promise that every file will gain genuine detail or that every output will look four times better.
- Open the small image in Enhance-X and select Increase resolution from the available effects.
- Let the app process the image, then compare fine text, hair, foliage and hard edges with the original.
- Check the saved file at the size at which you plan to share or print it. Added pixels do not restore detail that was absent from the source.
For a heavily compressed image, broad enhancement may produce a better overall result than resolution increase alone. Compare the options rather than stacking every available effect automatically.

Portrait and face adjustments
Samsung lists Portrait and Face tools among Enhance-X effects. Their exact controls can differ by device and software version, so use the controls that appear after selecting the tool. Check eyes, hair, skin texture and the boundary between the person and the background. If a face becomes waxy or an edge looks cut out, reduce the adjustment or keep the original.
Compare edits before you commit
The before-and-after divider is the most important quality check in Enhance-X. Drag it across the frame instead of judging only the thumbnail or the part of the image currently visible.
- Check the subject’s face and eyes at normal viewing size.
- Inspect fine lines, text and foliage for halos, repeated texture or invented detail.
- Look at smooth regions such as skies and walls for banding or noise amplification.
- Compare the brightest and darkest areas when using Brighten or HDR.
- Review the entire composition after lens correction or any effect that may change geometry.
When a slider is available, make a small change, compare again, and stop as soon as the visible problem is reduced. Some effects are automatic and provide no intensity control; in that case, the comparison view determines whether the result is worth saving.

Tap the app’s save command only after the comparison shows a result you prefer. Because save labels and placement can vary, follow the control shown in your version of Enhance-X. If the original is important, make a separate copy in Gallery first when your phone’s Gallery provides a copy or duplicate command. This gives you a reference if you later decide that an aggressive edit was a mistake.

After saving, open the resulting file in Gallery and check it at full size. Confirm that the image opens normally and that the detail, crop and orientation are what you expected before sharing it.

Enhance-X versus Galaxy AI editing in Gallery
These features should not be treated as interchangeable. Enhance-X is the separate app described in the workflow above. Samsung Gallery also offers a distinct set of Galaxy AI editing tools on supported devices.

The account, network, 12 MP and watermark conditions belong to the relevant Gallery AI functions. They should not be presented as universal requirements or behavior for every Enhance-X effect.
Troubleshoot common problems
The app cannot be found in Galaxy Store
Check the phone’s Android and One UI versions and search from the device itself. Current support lists Android 14 with One UI 6.0 or later, but model and regional availability still apply. Do not rely solely on the 2023 launch-era device list.
An effect is missing or unavailable
Open the further-effects menu and check again. Some effects may appear only when Enhance-X detects a suitable image, and the available tools can vary by device or software version. A missing control does not necessarily indicate an installation failure.
There is no slider
Controls are effect-specific. Some effects run automatically, while others expose an intensity control. Use the before-and-after divider to evaluate automatic results; do not expect every tool to offer manual strength adjustment.
The sharpened image looks unnatural
Lower the intensity if a slider is present, or choose Remove blur or Magic instead when those better match the defect. Samsung specifically cautions that excessive sharpening can produce an unnatural appearance.
The result looks worse than the original
Compare the same areas at the same viewing size, undo or abandon the current effect, and try a narrower correction. A broad one-tap enhancement is not always appropriate for a photo whose only problem is brightness or a screen pattern.

That prompt concerns the separate Gallery Galaxy AI feature set. Enhance-X and Gallery AI have different conditions; use the feature that matches the workflow you intended and meet its own requirements.
