To activate the Quack Sprite effect in Fortnite, equip Quack during an eligible, non-competitive Battle Royale match and carry the other Sprites you want to level in your match inventory. There is no button, emote or secondary ability to trigger: whenever Quack gains Sprite progress, each other Sprite you are carrying automatically receives an extra 50% of that progress.
Quack is therefore a progression tool, not a combat attack. You must first unlock it through Sprite Mastery, earn progress for it during the match, and extract your Sprites if you want to complete mastery.
What the Quack Sprite effect actually does
Quack changes how Sprite progress is distributed. The equipped Quack Sprite earns progress through the normal activities that advance a Sprite in your current Fortnite version. At that moment, every other Sprite in your match inventory receives an additional share equal to 50% of the progress Quack just gained.
For example, if Quack earns 100 Sprite XP from an eligible action, each other Sprite you are carrying receives an extra 50 Sprite XP. The calculation applies separately to each carried Sprite; it is not one 50-point pool divided among them. Quack still follows its ordinary progression rules, while the other carried Sprites get the bonus automatically.

Epic describes the mechanic in the v41.30 Battle Royale update notes as: "Whenever your Quack Sprite gains progress, every other Sprite you’re carrying in your match inventory also gains an extra 50% of that progress." The v42.40 Fortnite Override notes describe the same behavior as Quack boosting every carried Sprite with extra Sprite XP whenever Quack gains XP.
The bonus does not replace the underlying power of the Sprite you equip. Your active Sprite’s normal in-match ability remains the relevant power for that match; Quack’s distinctive benefit is shared progression. If you equip a Sprite for a particular combat or utility effect, that base effect still determines what happens in play.
What you need before dropping into a match
Unlock Quack through Sprite Mastery
Quack is a Sprite Mastery reward, not an ordinary item-shop purchase. Epic’s v41.30 notes place the Quack variant unlock in Part 4 of Sprite Mastery, and the v42.40 notes confirm that the final mastery page contains new Quack Sprites. The exact page and reward presentation can change when the seasonal track changes.
Use an eligible Battle Royale mode
Sprites are unavailable in competitive modes, according to Epic support. Start a regular, non-competitive Battle Royale match. If you enter a competitive playlist, the Sprite system and its Quack sharing effect will not be available regardless of your mastery progress.

Have other Sprites ready to carry
Quack can share progress only with other Sprites that are present in your match inventory. Decide which Sprites you want to advance before or during the match, then keep them carried while Quack is the equipped Sprite. A Sprite that is not in the match inventory cannot receive the automatic share.
Step-by-step: activating Quack in a match
- Confirm the unlock. Open the Sprite Mastery track and verify that Quack is available to you. If it is still locked, continue the mastery pages required by the current season rather than looking for a shop purchase.
- Choose a non-competitive Battle Royale playlist. Competitive modes do not support Sprites, so select a standard eligible playlist before queuing.
- Enter the match and open your match inventory. Use the inventory interface for your platform and locate the Sprite equip controls. The exact button prompt can vary by platform and update.
- Equip Quack as the active or carried Sprite. Quack must be the Sprite that is equipped on your character. Simply owning an unlocked Quack variant is not enough.
- Keep the target Sprites in the same match inventory. Carry every Sprite you want to level alongside Quack. The effect checks the Sprites you are carrying in that match, not your entire account collection.
- Perform normal progression actions. Exploration, eliminations, extraction and other version-specific actions can raise the equipped Sprite’s progress. You do not need to press an activation button after each action.
- Watch the progress updates. When Quack receives progress, the other carried Sprites should receive their additional progress automatically. The shared amount is tied to the progress event Quack just earned.
- Reach Level 5 and extract Sprites you want to master. Epic support states that Sprite mastery requires reaching Level 5 and extracting the Sprite. Extraction turns that run into permanent mastery progress.
How the XP sharing is calculated

The bonus is additive progression for the other carried Sprites. It does not mean that Quack copies another Sprite’s ability, increases weapon damage, or automatically extracts a Sprite. Extraction remains a separate end-of-match requirement for mastery.
Mastery, Level 5 and the risk of extraction
Reaching Level 5
A Sprite is mastered when it reaches Level 5 and is successfully extracted. Quack can make the leveling portion more efficient by feeding progress to the other Sprites you carry, but it does not remove the Level 5 requirement.
Why extraction matters
Progress earned during a run is not the same as completed mastery. You still need to extract the Sprite after it reaches Level 5. Plan the end of the match around a safe extraction route instead of treating the level-up notification as the finish line.

What happens if a Sprite is lost
Epic support and Quackadex state that mastery is permanent even if a Sprite later resets to Level 1 after being lost. The reset affects the Sprite’s current run level, not the mastery achievement already recorded on your account. This lets you continue collecting or leveling without losing completed mastery status.
Where Quack variants come from, and why lists change
Quack variants are tied to the Sprite Mastery reward track. Epic’s official notes confirm the reward-track route but do not publish one definitive threshold table that applies to every current version. Community reports have used different numbers and sometimes appear to confuse mastery-track levels with the number of Sprites mastered. Treat any threshold number found outside the in-game track as approximate unless the current game clearly shows otherwise.
A report dated October 15, 2026 lists five Quack variants for Chapter 7 Season 4:

Earlier July-era reports described four variants, so a list copied from an older season may be incomplete. Check the active Sprite Mastery pages in your game for the authoritative names and order. Variant availability, page placement and thresholds are update-sensitive.

Troubleshooting: why Quack may not be sharing progress
You are in a competitive playlist
This is the first condition to check. Sprites are not available in competitive modes. Leave the playlist and launch a supported non-competitive Battle Royale match before testing the effect again.
Quack is unlocked but not equipped
Unlocking a variant does not activate it automatically. Open the in-match inventory and make Quack the active or carried Sprite. If another Sprite is equipped, that Sprite’s normal ability is active instead.
The other Sprite is not being carried
The effect is limited to Sprites in the same match inventory. An unlocked collection entry, a Sprite left out of the inventory, or a Sprite that was removed during the match cannot receive the share. Add the target Sprite before earning the progress you want to distribute.

Quack shares only when it gains progress. Standing still, waiting for a passive timer, or expecting the bonus to appear merely because Quack is equipped will not create a sharing event. Use the progression activities recognized by your current version, such as exploration, eliminations or other eligible objectives.

You expected a combat attack
Quack’s special contribution is progression assistance. It is not a projectile, damage buff or separate combat action. Evaluate your equipped Sprite’s base power for combat and Quack for the value of leveling several carried Sprites at once.
The progress display looks different from an older guide
Fortnite updates can change mastery pages, variant names and how progress is presented. The mechanic described in the v41.30 and v42.40 notes is the relevant rule for those versions, while the current in-game interface controls what you see now. Use the live inventory and mastery displays rather than assuming an older screenshot uses the same labels.
You reached Level 5 but did not receive mastery
Level 5 alone is insufficient. Extract the Sprite successfully to complete mastery. If the Sprite is lost before extraction, its current level can reset to Level 1; completed mastery remains permanent once it has already been recorded.
You cannot find the claimed unlock threshold
Do not rely on an isolated number from a community list. Official documentation confirms the Sprite Mastery route but not one universal threshold table, and reports may count different things. Open the current mastery track and follow the page objectives shown there.
Choosing Quack versus a different Sprite
Quack is most useful when your goal is to advance several Sprites in the same run. A different variant may be preferable when its base ability solves an immediate combat or mobility problem. Make the choice using the four questions below.

Remember that the bonus does not improve the underlying ability of every Sprite in the inventory. It accelerates their progression. If your immediate objective is survival or a specific utility effect, select the Sprite whose base power fits that objective and use Quack on a later collection-focused run.
A practical Quack run checklist
- Unlock Quack through the current Sprite Mastery track.
- Queue for a non-competitive Battle Royale mode.
- Equip Quack as the active or carried Sprite.
- Place the other Sprites you want to level in the match inventory.
- Complete recognized progression actions so Quack actually gains progress.
- Confirm that the other carried Sprites receive their automatic share.
- Reach Level 5 on the Sprites you intend to master.
- Extract them successfully; mastery is then permanent even if a mastered Sprite later resets after being lost.
