Plumb adds package-health information to Filament’s plugin directory, helping you spot issues worth investigating before installing a plugin. Its score is a screening signal—not proof that a plugin is secure or safe for your application. Check the individual results, review the code and advisories, and confirm that your own app authorizes and scopes the plugin’s functionality correctly.

What Plumb shows for Filament plugins

Filament’s plugin directory displays Plumb scores in search and browsing views. A plugin’s detail page has a “Package health” section with totals for security, maintenance and ecosystem, followed by the results of 15 checks. Each check is marked as passed, failed or skipped; you can open checks for more detail and guidance. A check for GitHub Actions references pinned to a commit SHA is one example.

Filament’s September 28, 2026 article said Plumb scored almost 170,000 Packagist packages “at the time of writing.” That is a dated count, not a current inventory figure. Scores and scan dates can also change, so use the live listing rather than treating an old score as permanent. Read Filament’s explanation of the integration.

How to interpret a Plumb score

Use the overall score to decide where to look more closely, then inspect the category totals and individual checks. A failed check can point to a concrete concern; a skipped check means that check did not produce a pass or fail result. Neither the overall number nor the category totals establish that a package is secure. Filament’s article does not publish score weights, a complete scoring formula or independent evidence that a score predicts real-world safety.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Compare candidate plugins using the same questions rather than choosing the highest score by itself:

  • Security: Which checks failed or were skipped? Are there open security advisories?
  • Maintenance: Is the package maintained, and has its maintainer responded to dependency-update work?
  • Ecosystem: Do the checks and available information fit the package’s ecosystem and compatibility needs?
  • Freshness: When was the package last scanned, and are any results stale?
  • Application fit: Does the plugin’s behavior, authorization and data access fit your deployment?
  • Source and permissions: What code will run, and what access does it need?

What a package-health score cannot tell you about your app

A package scan evaluates package-level signals; it cannot establish that a plugin is correctly authorized or safely scoped in your particular application. Filament’s security guidance says standard resource CRUD operations are checked against Laravel model policies, but custom actions, pages, Livewire components, API endpoints and other business logic still need authorization implemented by the application developer. Check the behavior you use and verify that users can access only the records and actions they should.

Filament also says community plugins are third-party and that it does not review, endorse or vet their security outside the filament/ namespace. For example, the Chiiya Access Control listing tells users to review the source and install at their own risk. A Plumb score does not change that responsibility. Consult the Filament documentation for the relevant security guidance and review your app’s own policies and custom functionality.

How to review a plugin before installing it

  1. Open the current directory listing. Check the current score, category totals and scan date rather than relying on a number copied from an older article or screenshot.
  2. Inspect all 15 check results. Read the details for failed and skipped checks and decide whether each issue matters for your use case.
  3. Check security and maintenance signals. Look for published advisories and long-unanswered Dependabot pull requests, which Filament identifies as additional indicators to consider.
  4. Review the source. Understand what the package adds, what it can access and whether its behavior matches what you intend to install.
  5. Verify application controls. Check authorization and data scoping for the plugin’s features in your own deployment, especially custom actions, pages, Livewire components and endpoints.
  6. Reassess when circumstances change. Revisit package checks and scan dates when evaluating a new release or making a later installation decision.

How a plugin maintainer can obtain a Plumb score

  • Public plugin listed in Filament’s directory: Filament says it is scanned automatically.
  • Private, paid plugin listed in the directory: The maintainer needs to link a GitHub account with Plumb.
  • PHP or Laravel package outside the Filament ecosystem: Search for it on Plumb. If it has not been scanned, Filament’s article directs maintainers to the request form on Plumb’s homepage.

The package pages explain how the overall and section scores were determined, and individual check details give reasons for pass or fail results and suggestions for improvement. Filament does not state the full scoring formula in its article, so maintainers and users should rely on the visible check explanations rather than assume particular weights.
