pCloud lets you store files online, access them from desktop, web, and mobile apps, and share them with other people. You can begin with the free Basic account, then choose a paid individual, Family, or Business plan if you need more storage, more shared-link traffic, or multi-user administration. This walkthrough explains how to get started, add and sync files, share content, understand recovery and security features, and choose a plan.
What pCloud does
pCloud is a cloud-storage service for storing, accessing, syncing, and sharing files across devices. Its product pages also list media playback, offline access, backup options, file requests, and recovery features. Those are product-listed capabilities, not a guarantee that every file can always be recovered or accessed in every circumstance. See pCloud’s plans and product features and its features overview.
The basic workflow is straightforward: create an account, upload or sync files, organize them, and choose whether to keep them private or share them. You can also use pCloud Drive to work with cloud files from a computer and the mobile app to access files on a phone.

pCloud’s Help Center says a new Basic account starts with 2 GB of storage, with steps and referrals that can unlock up to 10 GB. The same page lists 50 GB of monthly shared-link traffic for Basic. These are different limits: storage is the space for your files, while link traffic measures downloads of shared content by other people. Check the current Basic storage and link-traffic details, since plan allowances can change.

Once registered, use the service’s web, desktop, or mobile access according to where you are working. The exact buttons and menu labels may differ between app versions, so follow the controls displayed in your current interface rather than relying on a fixed click sequence.
Upload and organize files
Upload from a computer or external drive
pCloud describes uploads from a computer and an external drive. An external drive is optional; it can serve as a source for files you want to upload, but it is not required to use the service. The official upload guide also lists uploads from cameras and mobile devices: pCloud’s upload instructions.
After files arrive, organize them in folders in a way that makes sense for your work. Keep private files separate from content you intend to share, and check the destination before uploading a large batch.
Use the mobile app
The mobile app provides access to files stored in pCloud and can be used for uploads. pCloud also lists phone-gallery backup and offline access among its features. Check the app’s current settings to control which media is uploaded and which files are made available offline; offline copies use device storage.
Understand sync, offline access, and backup
Syncing keeps files available across devices
pCloud describes synchronization across devices and pCloud Drive access that can work without keeping every cloud file on local storage. Sync is useful when you want changes made to files to be available elsewhere, but it is not the same as maintaining an independent backup. A deletion or unwanted change that synchronizes may affect the copies connected to that workflow.

Offline access keeps selected files on a device
For travel or unreliable connections, use the app’s offline-access option for the files you need. These files are stored locally so they remain available without a connection; allow for the space they occupy on the device.
Backup is a separate protection choice
pCloud lists desktop, phone-gallery, and third-party backup options. A backup workflow is intended to retain a separate copy, while sync primarily keeps working files aligned. Decide which folders or devices you need protected and confirm what the current backup settings include before relying on them.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsShare files and folders
pCloud describes shared links, shared folders, password-protected links, folder collaboration, and file requests. A link can be useful when someone needs to download or view content; a shared folder is more appropriate when people need ongoing access or collaboration. A file request lets other people send files to you without making them collaborators on your storage.
Before sharing, check whether a link should be public to anyone who has it or restricted with the available protection options. Also consider the plan’s monthly shared-link traffic allowance, which is separate from your storage capacity. The Help Center lists 50 GB for Basic, 1 TB for Premium, 4 TB for Premium Plus, and 20 TB for Ultra. Its current page also describes a daily folder-sharing limit for Free/Premium accounts and unlimited folder sharing for Business; check the current plan and sharing limits before depending on a particular allowance.
Recover earlier versions and deleted files
pCloud’s pricing page describes file-version recovery and data recovery from up to 30 days ago. Treat that as a vendor-stated feature rather than an unconditional recovery promise: availability can depend on the plan or circumstances. If you need to restore something, check the recovery controls in your account promptly and confirm the retention period and scope shown there. The current description is on pCloud’s pricing page.

Know what the security claims cover
pCloud says its service uses TLS/SSL channel protection and AES-256 encryption. These are vendor statements about the service; they are not independent security testing or a guarantee against every risk. Use a strong, unique account password and protect access to the devices where you sign in.
pCloud Encryption is a separate, optional client-side encryption feature. pCloud says files covered by that feature are encrypted on the device before transfer begins. Do not assume the option is enabled by default or that it automatically protects every file in an account. Review the feature’s scope and setup in pCloud Encryption information.
Choose a plan for storage, traffic, and users
pCloud’s Help Center lists the following storage and monthly shared-link traffic allowances. Check the live plan page before subscribing because product limits and packaging may change.
| Plan | Storage | Monthly shared-link traffic | Best fit to consider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | Starts at 2 GB; up to 10 GB can be unlocked | 50 GB | Trying the service or storing a modest collection |
| Premium | 500 GB | 1 TB | One person needing more space than Basic |
| Premium Plus | 2 TB | 4 TB | One person with a larger library or more sharing |
| Ultra | 10 TB | 20 TB | One person with substantial storage needs |
These capacity and traffic figures are from pCloud’s Help Center plan allowance page. The Basic storage maximum involves completing unlock steps; it is not the starting allowance.
Compare individual, Family, and Business needs
For an individual account, compare the storage and traffic limits against how much you keep and how often you share large files. pCloud also offers Family and Business plans with different user and administration arrangements. Consider a Family plan when several people need an organized shared arrangement; consider Business when team administration and multiple users matter. Confirm current seats, permissions, storage allocation, and management controls on the official pricing page.
Check billing terms and current prices
pCloud lists monthly, annual, and lifetime billing options. The pricing page snapshot accessed in October 2026 listed US annual prices of $49.99 per year for 500 GB, $99.99 per year for 2 TB, and $299.99 per year for 10 TB. These are time-sensitive listed prices, not guaranteed current offers; check the live page for your region, currency, billing term, and any plan-specific terms before paying. pCloud also describes a 14-day money-back guarantee, whose applicability should be confirmed for the selected plan and purchase.
Quick Recap
Quick decision checklist
- Estimate how much storage you need, allowing for future growth.
- Estimate shared-link downloads separately from the space your own files occupy.
- Choose individual, Family, or Business according to who needs access and what administration is required.
- Decide whether optional client-side Encryption is necessary for particular files.
- Compare the total cost and terms for monthly, annual, or lifetime billing in your region.
- Keep an independent backup strategy for files that would be difficult to replace; syncing alone does not provide that separation.
