“Gemini Tasks” can mean three different features. Use Gemini’s connected task and reminder integrations when you want a dated item saved in Google Tasks or Samsung Reminder. Use Scheduled actions when you want Gemini to prepare a recurring response in a chat. Use Gemini Spark schedules when you want a broader workflow to run on a time or event trigger. Their setup requirements, limits, and timing behavior are different.
Choose the right Gemini feature first
The result you want determines the feature to use. A reminder stored in a task app is not the same as a recurring Gemini-generated briefing, and neither is the same as an automation that watches Gmail or a topic.

Check your account and activity settings
Before creating anything, sign in to Gemini with the account that should own the task or schedule. Keep Activity is a common requirement for the supported integrations, Scheduled actions, and Spark schedules.
- Keep Activity: Turn it on in your Gemini or Google Account activity settings. If it is off, Gemini may not offer the task connection or scheduling controls.
- Google Tasks: Connect Google Workspace to Gemini using the same account before asking Gemini to save a task there.
- Samsung Reminder: Identify Samsung Reminder in the prompt when you want the reminder stored there rather than in another connected service.
- Scheduled actions: The feature is being introduced gradually to personal accounts and is also available to qualifying work or school Google Workspace accounts. Your account may not have the control yet.
- Spark: The currently documented requirements are a personal Google Account, age 18 or older, Keep Activity on, and Google AI Pro or Ultra. Google lists the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom as unavailable regions in its current Spark documentation.
Google can change account eligibility, regional access, plan requirements, and interface labels. If a control described below is missing, check the current Gemini help information for your account and country rather than assuming the feature has been removed.

Create a one-time task or reminder
Use the connected task or reminder workflow when the important outcome is a saved item with a date or time. The task remains in Google Tasks or Samsung Reminder, not only in the conversation.
Step 1: Connect the destination
- Open Gemini and confirm that Keep Activity is enabled.
- If you want Google Tasks, connect Google Workspace to Gemini with the same Google account. Without that connection, Gemini cannot save the item to Google Tasks.
- If you use Samsung Reminder, make sure the Samsung service is available to the account and device you are using.
Step 2: State the date, time, and action
A complete prompt names what to do and when to do it. Google’s documented examples include:
Remind me on [date] at [time] to [task].Remind me at [time] to call [name].Remind me tomorrow at 9 AM to submit the expense report.
When the destination matters, append @Google Tasks or @Samsung Reminder. For example:

Use an unambiguous date, especially around month boundaries, and include a time zone when the timing could be interpreted differently.
Step 3: Verify Gemini’s confirmation
Gemini should show a confirmation and identify the linked list or service. Read the title, date, time, and destination before accepting it. A conversational confirmation is not proof that the underlying task was saved correctly.

Step 4: Find and change the item
Ask What are my upcoming tasks? to retrieve upcoming items, or ask What are my to-dos for [time or date]? to narrow the request. To change an item, name it and request one specific operation:
Move “renew the passport” to July 2 at 10 AM.Mark “call Alex” as done.Rename “submit report” to “send final expense report.”Delete the reminder to buy printer ink.
After an edit or deletion, check the linked task list or reminder app. Gemini’s connected-app workflows can return outdated or incorrect information, so the source list is the final authority.
Schedule a recurring Gemini response with Scheduled actions
Scheduled actions are for repeated Gemini output rather than a simple alarm. You might request a daily digest, a weekly roundup, or a monthly summary. Gemini prepares the response according to the routine you define.
Create a scheduled action
- Open the Gemini mobile app or go to
gemini.google.com. - Describe both the content and the frequency in one request. For example:
Every Monday at 8 AM, give me a roundup of my priorities for the week. - Submit the request and read Gemini’s schedule summary. Confirm the time, recurrence, and requested content before saving it.
- If Gemini refuses or does not show scheduling controls, verify that Keep Activity is on and that your account is eligible for the gradual rollout.
Google’s examples use natural wording such as a daily briefing or weekly roundup. Be explicit about the intended day and time rather than relying on phrases such as “later” or “regularly.”
Manage, pause, or edit an action
Open the Scheduled actions area to review your actions, or return to the related scheduled-action chat and ask Gemini to edit the routine. On mobile, a response-ready item uses Gemini app notifications. On the web, the related chat is marked unread when the response is ready.

Google currently limits an account to 10 active scheduled actions. Delete or deactivate an unused action if you have reached that limit. The limit is a product cap, not a guarantee that every account will have the feature during the rollout.
Understand prepared-in-advance responses
Scheduled responses are generated ahead of delivery. Google explains: “Responses for scheduled actions are prepared in advance to guarantee timely delivery. As a result, rapidly changing data, like stock prices, won’t be the latest when you receive them.” Use this feature for summaries, plans, and wrap-ups—not for a live price, breaking news, or any decision that depends on the latest information.
Automate a broader workflow with Gemini Spark schedules
Spark is the automation-oriented option. Google describes a task as the high-level goal, a schedule as the time or event trigger, and a skill as reusable instructions for how Gemini should perform the task. Spark schedules can combine those pieces for workflows that go beyond a stored reminder or a repeated chat answer.
Supported trigger types

Confirm that Spark is available
The current Spark documentation requires all of the following:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You use a personal Google Account.
- Keep Activity is enabled.
- You have a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription.
- You are in a supported region. The current documentation lists the EEA, Nigeria, Switzerland, and the UK as unavailable.
These requirements apply to Spark, not automatically to ordinary Google Tasks reminders or Scheduled actions.

Create a Spark schedule
- Start a Spark task thread or Gemini Live chat and describe the job and its trigger. For example:
Every weekday at 7 AM, review my Gmail, Calendar, and Drive and tell me what to prioritize. - Specify whether the trigger is a time, a Gmail filter, or a topic monitor. Include the exact recurrence when using time.
- Review the proposed schedule and permissions before confirming it.
- For a time-based schedule, use the web Schedules page when available. Google documents conversational creation in app contexts, but the Schedules page and manual creation of time-based schedules are currently web features.
Review and control schedules
The web Schedules page lists ongoing, paused, and completed schedules. From there you can edit, pause, resume, or delete a schedule. The mobile app supports conversational edits, but full schedule management is currently web-only.
Handle travel and time zones
A time-based Spark schedule stays tied to the time zone in which it was created, even while you travel. If the routine should follow local time, ask Gemini to update the schedule for the new time zone. Do not assume that changing your phone’s clock will automatically move the Spark schedule.
Know what happens after a plan change
If you cancel or downgrade a Google AI subscription and Spark is no longer supported, Spark access is lost and its schedules are paused rather than deleted. Google’s documentation says the schedule data is retained. Restoring eligibility can therefore be different from creating the schedules again, but check the current account behavior before relying on that recovery path.
Do not use monitors as instant alarms
Google does not recommend Spark monitors for time-critical triggers. A monitor is unsuitable for being notified the moment tickets go on sale or for another event where a delay could make the action useless. Use a dedicated real-time alerting system for those cases.

Prompt patterns that reduce mistakes
- One-time task: Include the exact date, local time, action, and destination:
Remind me on October 20, 2026, at 2 PM local time to submit the tax form. @Google Tasks. - Recurring response: State the cadence and output:
Every Friday at 4 PM, give me a short summary of unfinished priorities from this week.. - Spark workflow: State the sources, operation, and trigger:
Every day at 7 AM, look through my emails, calendar, and Drive, and let me know what to prioritize for the day.. - Editing: Identify one existing item by its title and request one change at a time. This reduces the chance that Gemini edits a similarly named task.
For all three features, ask Gemini to repeat the final date, time, destination, and recurrence in its confirmation. Correct an ambiguous interpretation before saving.

Troubleshoot common failures
Gemini answers but does not save a task
- Confirm Keep Activity is enabled.
- For Google Tasks, connect Google Workspace to Gemini with the same account.
- Add the destination explicitly with
@Google Tasksor@Samsung Reminder. - Open the linked list and verify that the item exists instead of relying on the chat text.
Scheduled actions are missing
- Check that Keep Activity is on.
- Confirm that your personal or qualifying work or school account has received the staged feature.
- Count active actions; the current limit is 10.
- Try the Gemini mobile app and the web interface, since controls can appear differently.
Spark cannot be created
- Verify the personal-account, age, Keep Activity, and Google AI Pro or Ultra requirements.
- Check whether your country is among the regions where Spark is unavailable.
- Use the web Schedules page for management and manual time-based creation when the mobile interface does not expose those controls.
The schedule ran at the wrong local time
For Spark time schedules, remember that the creation time zone remains attached during travel. Ask Gemini to edit the schedule to the new time zone, then verify the displayed time on the Schedules page.
The result is outdated or incorrect
Review the underlying task list, Gmail message, calendar entry, or other linked source. Gemini can produce outdated or hallucinated information in connected-app workflows. Scheduled actions are prepared in advance, and Spark monitors are not real-time alerting systems.
Use Gemini scheduling safely
Give each feature the level of trust it can support. A task integration is convenient for creating and editing list items, but you should verify the saved record. A Scheduled action is useful for a repeatable briefing, but its content may be old by delivery time. A Spark monitor can automate a broader process, but it should not control a deadline-sensitive response.

Keep the confirmation as the review point: check the destination, recurrence, time zone, and the sources Gemini will use. When a subscription change, account switch, or travel plan affects the schedule, revisit the schedule page and test one run before depending on it for an important routine.
In practice, use Google Tasks or Samsung Reminder for a single saved reminder, Scheduled actions for a recurring Gemini answer, and Spark for a supported multi-step or event-triggered workflow. Treat all three as convenience automation, not as an infallible alarm clock or a guarantee of live information.
