Gemini Auto Browse in Chrome is an experimental agent that can carry out multi-step web tasks—such as comparing products, preparing travel bookings, making restaurant reservations, or filling repetitive forms—after you review its proposed plan. In 2026, access requires a qualifying Google account, the latest Chrome, and a supported US setup; Google is releasing it gradually, so an eligible account may not show the feature yet.
What Gemini Auto Browse does
Auto Browse lets Gemini in Chrome navigate multiple websites and perform a sequence of actions instead of only answering questions or suggesting links. Google’s examples include comparing products and adding an item to a cart, finding and booking accommodation, preparing a restaurant reservation, and scheduling an appointment. The agent chooses which sites to use and may send relevant personal information to those sites.
That autonomy makes the review step essential. Gemini’s plan is a proposal, not evidence that every site, price, date, quantity, or policy has been interpreted correctly. Read the plan and check the information it intends to share before starting.
Eligibility and requirements
- You must be at least 18 and located in the United States.
- Your personal Google Account must have Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra, and you must be signed in to Chrome with that personal account.
- Install the latest desktop version of Chrome and set the device language to English.
- Use Standard or Enhanced Safe Browsing.
- Auto Browse is unavailable in Incognito mode and is not available in Gemini in Chrome on iPhone or iPad, according to Google’s computer help documentation.
- Google is rolling the feature out gradually. Meeting every requirement therefore does not guarantee immediate access.
The Chrome product documentation describes Auto Browse as available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the United States. Menus and availability can vary by account, geography, and rollout stage.

How to start an Auto Browse task
- Open Chrome on a supported computer and click Ask Gemini.
- Describe the complete job, including constraints such as budget, dates, location, quantity, required features, and deal-breakers.
- Click Submit.
- Inspect Gemini’s proposed plan. Confirm the sites, criteria, quantities, dates, account details, and any personal information it may provide.
- Click Start Task only when the plan matches your intent.
An Auto Browse icon appears on the active task tab while the agent works. If a human action is required, Chrome displays a notification rather than silently completing that step.

Research and comparison
Give Gemini a defined shortlist or measurable criteria—for example, a maximum price, delivery destination, minimum capacity, and features you will not compromise on. Ask it to compare results and add a selected item to a cart, but verify seller, shipping, returns, and final totals yourself.

Daily limits and availability
| Google AI plan | Published daily allowance | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Google AI Pro | Up to 20 multi-step requests per day | Google’s 2026 figure; actual access is subject to rollout and account eligibility |
| Google AI Ultra | Up to 200 multi-step requests per day | Google’s 2026 figure; actual access is subject to rollout and account eligibility |
Google also states that simultaneous multi-step tasks are limited, but its cited help page does not publish a concurrency number. Do not assume the daily allowance means you can run that many tasks at once.

Google describes agentic browsing as experimental and warns that Gemini can make mistakes or unexpected decisions, including purchases. You remain responsible for the agent’s actions. Before starting, check the plan and the destination sites; during execution, watch for changed prices, substituted products, incorrect dates, or requests for unnecessary data.

- Stop the task when the result no longer matches the stated constraints.
Google also documents safeguards for prohibited or harmful requests. Those safeguards do not replace your review of ordinary tasks.

If Auto Browse is missing
- Verify that Chrome is current, you are signed in with a personal—not managed or otherwise unsupported—Google Account, and the account has Google AI Pro or Ultra.
- Check that the device language is English and Safe Browsing is set to Standard or Enhanced.
- Leave Incognito mode and retry from a normal Chrome window on a computer.
- Confirm you are in the United States and at least 18.
- If all conditions are met, wait for rollout: Google may not have enabled the feature for your account yet.
The Bottom Line
To use Gemini Auto Browse, start from Ask Gemini in the latest desktop Chrome, describe a tightly constrained task, inspect the plan, and then choose Start Task. Pro accounts receive up to 20 multi-step requests per day and Ultra accounts up to 200, but gradual rollout, regional requirements, concurrent-task limits, and the need for human confirmation still apply.
