In Eroico on PC, press F1 to activate the built-in cheat mode. While it is active, press 1 to restore a player resource and 2 to restart the current screen or level. GameFAQs and a Steam Community guide agree on that sequence, but they describe the effect of key 1 differently: one says health and MP, while the other says HP and crossbow charges.
If you are playing on a laptop and F1 does not produce the activation sound mentioned by GameFAQs, try Fn + F1. That is a community troubleshooting tip rather than a guaranteed fix for every keyboard or game build.
Eroico cheat keys at a glance
Eroico is a PC 2D action platformer identified by GameFAQs as developed by Kyrieru and published by MangaGamer, with a listed release date of February 17, 2017. The cheat commands below come from a GameFAQs entry and a Steam Community guide. Both are secondary references, and the behavior has not been independently tested here, so treat the instructions as a practical reference rather than a promise that every build behaves identically.

How to activate and use the cheats
1. Start the game and reach playable gameplay
Use the keyboard controls while you are in an active stage rather than relying on a title-screen prompt. The references describe the commands as in-game inputs and do not document a separate menu for enabling them.

2. Press F1
Tap F1 once. GameFAQs reports that a sound effect indicates cheat mode has turned on. The guide does not document a visual overlay, status label or separate confirmation screen, so the sound is the clearest confirmation described by either source.
3. Press 1 for the resource refill
With cheat mode active, press the number-row 1 key. The two references agree that this restores something useful to the player, but they do not agree on exactly what is restored. GameFAQs calls it a refill of health and MP. The Steam guide calls it replenishing HP and crossbow charges. Those descriptions could reflect different terminology, different versions or different observations; the available references do not establish which explanation applies to every copy.
4. Press 2 to restart
Press 2 while cheat mode remains active to restart the current playable area. GameFAQs describes the result as restarting the current screen, whereas the Steam guide says it restarts the entire level. Use “screen or level restart” as the safe expectation. Neither reference specifies whether the command returns you to a checkpoint, resets collectibles, rewinds a boss encounter or changes save data, so do not treat it as a documented checkpoint command.

The references use the language “activate” and “toggle,” which suggests that F1 may switch the mode on or off. They do not spell out a separate deactivation command. If you want to test whether the mode has been toggled off, press F1 again and listen for the game’s response, then avoid assuming that the sound has a documented meaning beyond the initial activation report.

Why the key 1 description is inconsistent
The discrepancy is important because it changes what you should expect during a difficult section. One source names health and MP; the other names HP and crossbow charges. “Health” and “HP” are likely two names for the same basic resource, but MP and crossbow ammunition are not interchangeable terms. No version number, patch history or controlled test is supplied with these references, so it would be misleading to declare one list universally correct.
When trying the command, watch the resource indicators that your current build actually displays. If health changes but a magic or ammunition meter does not, that does not prove the code failed; it may reflect the terminology or implementation described by the other reference. Conversely, if crossbow charges refill and MP does not, that matches the Steam guide’s wording even though it differs from GameFAQs.
What “restart” means for key 2
Both sources associate 2 with restarting, but they use different boundaries. “Current screen” can imply the immediate room or section, while “entire level” can imply a larger stage. Because neither source documents the game’s internal checkpoint rules, assume the command may discard progress made in the current section and use it only when you are comfortable replaying that area.
- Use it to retry a platforming sequence, combat encounter or route from the beginning of the affected area.
- Do not use it as a substitute for a normal save or checkpoint unless your own build clearly demonstrates that behavior.
- If you are collecting items or testing a route, note your position before pressing 2 so you can tell whether the reset scope is a screen or a whole level.
Laptop keyboards: getting F1 to register
Try Fn + F1
The Steam Community guide specifically suggests Fn + F1 when the expected activation signal is not heard. Many laptop keyboards assign brightness, volume or another hardware action to the top row, so the Fn modifier can send the traditional function-key event instead. This is a community suggestion, not a guaranteed fix for every laptop, operating-system setting or keyboard layout.

Confirm the sequence rather than testing 1 or 2 first
- Enter gameplay and press Fn + F1.
- Wait for the activation response described by GameFAQs.
- Press 1 and check whether one of the documented resources changes.
- Only then test 2, because it may restart the current screen or level.
If the laptop has a function-lock setting, the top-row behavior may be reversed: ordinary F1 could send the hardware shortcut while Fn + F1 sends F1, or the other way around. The supplied references do not identify a universal function-lock procedure, so use the keyboard’s own documentation or an external keyboard to determine which combination produces a normal F1 event.
Troubleshooting when the cheats appear not to work
No activation sound
First, repeat F1 while actively playing rather than in a menu. On a laptop, repeat the test with Fn + F1. If neither combination produces the reported response, the key may be intercepted by the laptop’s function layer, another overlay or a different control configuration. An external keyboard can help isolate whether the problem is the game or the built-in keyboard.
Key 1 appears to do nothing
Make sure F1 was pressed immediately beforehand and that you are testing during gameplay. Then inspect every resource display relevant to your character: the references disagree about whether the refill affects MP or crossbow charges. A build that uses different labels may show a change in a meter you were not watching.

Key 2 restarts more than expected
The source wording itself allows for this possibility. If your entire level resets rather than only the current screen, that matches the Steam guide’s description. Record the result for your own build before using the command during a long attempt, and save normally whenever the game allows it.

Inputs work on a controller but not the keyboard
An Eroico information page says PC players can use keyboard or gamepad input, but the cheat references document keyboard keys only. A controller may be suitable for ordinary movement while still offering no documented equivalent for F1, 1 or 2. Keep a keyboard available for the cheat sequence unless your own configuration provides a verified mapping.
Difficulty context and Easy mode
A Steam Community discussion describes Eroico as challenging and reproduces a 2018 statement attributed to developer Kyrieru: “Easy-mode was essentially my compromise for people who wanted to see the H-content, but were awful at platformers.” The quotation appears in a community discussion rather than a primary developer interview, and it is a historical design comment, not a current promise about updates, support or how every modern build handles difficulty.
That context explains why a player might use the built-in commands: they provide a way to recover a resource or restart a section without searching for an external trainer. They do not establish an official progression system, unlock every secret, or guarantee access to content that depends on normal stage completion.
What these codes do—and do not—unlock
The documented commands are narrow. F1 activates the mode, 1 performs a resource-related action, and 2 restarts an area. The available references do not document codes for invincibility, level selection, hidden costumes, gallery entries, endings, statistics or other “secrets.” Do not infer additional commands from the phrase “cheat mode,” and do not download an unverified trainer simply because a site lists features that are absent from these references.

- There is no documented code here for skipping directly to a named level.
- There is no documented code here for changing difficulty during a stage.
- There is no documented information about achievements, save compatibility or whether using the commands affects them.
Practical testing checklist
Use this short checklist if you want to verify the behavior of your own installation without risking a valuable attempt:
- Start a stage where the health and any magic or ammunition indicators are visible.
- Press F1, or Fn + F1 on a laptop whose top row does not send F1 normally.
- Listen for the activation sound reported by GameFAQs.
- Press 1 and note exactly which displayed resource changes.
- Move to a safe position, then press 2 and observe whether the reset covers a screen or the whole level.
- Write down the result alongside your game version so you do not assume another build behaves identically.
This method preserves the distinction between what the community references report and what your own copy demonstrates. It also reduces the chance of pressing 2 accidentally while testing 1.
Bottom line for PC players
Use the sequence F1, then 1 or 2. F1 enables the built-in mode, 1 restores a resource, and 2 restarts the current screen or level. Because GameFAQs and the Steam guide disagree about whether key 1 restores MP or crossbow charges—and about the exact restart scope—treat those details as build-dependent until you observe them in your installation. On a laptop, try Fn + F1 when ordinary F1 does not produce the reported activation signal.
