Bing’s Homepage Quiz is connected to the daily image on Bing.com. It is designed to help you explore the person, place, animal, event, or object shown in that image, with supporting information and links for further reading.

The quiz is separate from the Microsoft Rewards Daily Set, Bing’s weekly news or trends quizzes, and the “Test your knowledge” tool in Bing AI. The steps below apply to the image-based quiz on the Bing homepage.

Open the Bing Homepage Quiz

On a desktop browser, use this path:

  1. Open Bing.com.
  2. Move the pointer over the area beneath the search box. This should reveal the daily quiz associated with the homepage image.
  3. Alternatively, hover over the image headline or the image-credit information near the lower-right corner of the page.
  4. Click the headline or credit information to open the image details and quiz.

Microsoft’s current instructions do not guarantee a particular button name. Depending on the Bing experience you receive, you may not see labels such as “Take the Quiz” or “Daily Quiz.” The headline, image-credit area, and space below the search box are the reliable places to look.

Use the image before looking at the answers

The quiz works best as a short observation-and-research exercise rather than a race to select an option. Before opening the question, inspect the image:

  • Look for landscape features, architecture, clothing, animals, signs, or symbols.
  • Notice whether the image appears to show a historical event, a natural site, a cultural object, or a notable person.
  • Make a prediction about the subject before checking the answer choices.

After answering, read the explanation and follow one of the supplied links. The supporting material is the useful part of the experience: it gives you context about what is pictured and points you toward more information.

A simple daily learning routine

  1. Observe: spend 30 seconds examining the homepage image.
  2. Predict: state your best answer before reading the choices.
  3. Answer: select the option that seems most likely.
  4. Verify: read Bing’s explanation after submitting the answer.
  5. Explore: open one authoritative link rather than every result on the page.
  6. Keep one takeaway: write down a name, date, location, scientific term, or question for later.

For example, if the image shows an unfamiliar building, do not stop after learning its name. Note where it is, what it was built for, and one reason it matters. That turns a few seconds of trivia into a repeatable learning habit.

What to do if the quiz is missing

The homepage image and its related features can be hidden by Bing’s settings, or the feature may not be available in your region.

Check that the homepage image is enabled

  1. Open Bing.com.
  2. In the upper-right corner, select Settings and quick links.
  3. Under Customize your homepage, turn on Show homepage image.
  4. Return to the homepage and move the pointer below the search box or over the image headline.

If the image is disabled, the image-based quiz may not be visible. Bing remembers this preference, so a setting changed previously can continue to affect later visits.

Check other homepage options

For additional image and video behavior, use Settings and quick links → Settings → More. Bing may offer options including Don’t play automatically and Show a still image. These controls affect how the homepage background is presented and can change what is available to interact with.

Consider regional and product differences

Microsoft warns that some Bing homepage features are not available in every country or region. Also check that you are on the Bing homepage rather than the Microsoft Rewards dashboard, Bing mobile app, or Bing AI tools. Those surfaces can show different quizzes and activities.

Find a missed Bing homepage image

Next to the daily image headline, select the < or > arrows to browse the previous seven days of homepage images. This is useful if you dismissed the quiz or want to revisit the subject.

Bing also provides a recent-image gallery at bing.com/hp/api/v1/imagegallery. It lists dates for recent homepage images. However, do not assume that every older image still offers exactly the same quiz interface or interaction.

Does the Homepage Quiz earn Microsoft Rewards points?

It can be tempting to treat every Bing quiz as a points task, but Microsoft does not currently publish a universal point value for the Homepage Quiz. Rewards offers, earning methods, limits, and availability vary by country or region and may also vary by account.

Microsoft documents quizzes and trivia games generally as possible Rewards activities, but it does not guarantee that every image-based Homepage Quiz awards points to every user. Check the Microsoft Rewards dashboard if earning points is your goal.

A Microsoft account is required to participate in Microsoft Rewards. Sign in to the Rewards page to view the activities and offers currently available to your account.

Do not confuse these Bing quizzes

Experience Where you find it What it is for
Homepage Quiz Bing’s daily homepage image Learn about the image’s subject and explore related information
Rewards Daily Set Microsoft Rewards dashboard A daily collection of Rewards activities tracked by Microsoft
News or trends quizzes Other Bing or Rewards surfaces Questions based on current news, searches, or trends
Test your knowledge Bing AI tools A separate AI-based knowledge activity

Completing one of these does not prove that you completed another. If a points total or streak is important, verify the activity in the Rewards dashboard instead of relying only on the quiz page.

When a quiz or activity does not credit points

If the activity appears to complete but your Rewards balance does not change, Microsoft lists several possible causes:

  • You are signed in to a different Microsoft account from the one connected to Rewards.
  • Your browser activity has not synchronized with the Rewards database.
  • You appear to be earning from outside your current market.
  • Give Mode is enabled.
  • You have reached an applicable earning limit.

First, confirm the account shown on Bing and on the Rewards dashboard. Then refresh the dashboard and allow time for the activity to synchronize. Avoid repeatedly submitting the same activity in an attempt to force a credit.

Protect your Rewards account

Use the quiz normally. Microsoft may limit earning when activity looks abnormal, including:

  • Rapid, back-to-back searches.
  • Entering meaningless letters or numbers as searches.
  • Opening articles and clicking through them unusually quickly.
  • Using bookmarks in rapid succession to generate activity.
  • Using bots, macros, or other automation.

Repeated violations can result in suspended earning or invalidated points. The safest approach is to answer the question, read the explanation, and explore the subject at a natural pace.

Homepage Quiz versus a Daily Set streak

A missing or reset Daily Set streak is not necessarily a Homepage Quiz problem. Microsoft says Daily Set streaks can reset when the set was not completed on time, when a VPN or different device time zone was used, or when you were signed in to another account.

Daily Set activity is based on the device’s time zone. A completed Daily Set displays a green checkmark. If you are troubleshooting a streak, check the Daily Set itself rather than assuming that the image quiz controls the streak.

What not to rely on in older guides

Some older instructions tell users to look for a graduation-cap icon or promise that every Homepage Quiz contains three questions. Those details came from Microsoft’s 2016 Homepage Trivia announcement. They are not reliable descriptions of the current interface.

Current Microsoft Support instead directs users to the area beneath the search box and to the image headline or credit information. It also does not promise a fixed question count or a fixed reward for each quiz.

Best way to make the quiz worthwhile

Use the quiz as a launch point, not as a score to chase. Spend a minute identifying the subject, read the explanation, and follow one credible source. If the topic interests you, save a follow-up question—such as “Why was this site built?” or “How does this species survive there?”—and research it separately.

That approach also avoids the common mistake of treating the Homepage Quiz, Rewards Daily Set, and other Bing activities as interchangeable. The quiz’s consistent value is the context attached to the daily image; Rewards participation is optional and depends on your account and region.

The Bottom Line

To use Bing’s Homepage Quiz, open Bing.com, enable the homepage image, and interact with the daily image headline or the area beneath the search box. Answer the question, read the explanation, and follow one useful link. Treat Microsoft Rewards points as a variable extra—not a guaranteed result—and troubleshoot account, region, settings, and activity limits separately when something does not appear or credit.
