Short answer: Aang and Katara are announced as playable racers in the Avatar Legends Pack, but SEGA lists that downloadable content for October 14, 2026. As of October 13, no authoritative source in the available material publishes either character’s CrossWorlds stats, class, or unique racing abilities. You can still prepare an effective setup: unlock the correct content, choose gadgets around the way you actually race, and compare both characters under identical vehicle and gadget conditions after release.

That approach avoids treating promotional character names as unverified performance claims. It also gives you a repeatable way to identify whether Aang or Katara better supports your preferred drifting, trick, item, or all-round style once their in-game data is visible.

What is confirmed about Aang and Katara

SEGA’s announced Avatar Legends Pack adds Aang and Katara as playable characters. The same pack includes the Gliding Air vehicle, the Lion Turtle Island course, emotes, and additional sounds. The official listing gives the roster and bundled content, but it does not state acceleration, top speed, handling, boost behavior, item affinity, drift characteristics, a character class, or a special ability for either racer.

The pack is scheduled for October 14, 2026, one day after the October 13 research timestamp. “Scheduled” is not the same as “already playable”: launch timing, regional storefront visibility, and update rollout can differ by platform. Treat any social post or guide that assigns a precise advantage to Aang or Katara before you can see the information in your own game as unverified.

Check that you own the content before troubleshooting performance

A character cannot be evaluated if the relevant downloadable content has not been granted to your account. The official purchase guide describes the Digital Deluxe Edition as including the base game and Season Pass. It also describes the Season Pass as unlocking crossover characters, courses, and machines as they release. Other editions may not include those entitlements.

  1. Identify your platform and edition. Open the platform’s CrossWorlds product page or your library details and note whether you own the base game, Digital Deluxe Edition, Season Pass, or the Avatar Legends Pack itself.
  2. Check the included-content list. Look for the Avatar Legends Pack or an entitlement that explicitly covers it. A base-game listing by itself should not be treated as proof that Aang and Katara are included.
  3. Install the game update and downloadable content. Restart the game after the download finishes. Some platforms show the pack as owned before the separate content download has completed.
  4. Confirm the account and region. DLC normally has to match the platform account and game region that supplied the base game. If the pack is missing, check those details before changing settings or deleting save data.
  5. Look in the character-select and garage screens. The reliable confirmation is an unlocked Aang or Katara entry, not a store banner alone. Check the vehicle and course lists for the other advertised items as a second entitlement check.

Understand what you can tune in CrossWorlds

CrossWorlds separates several sources of performance. The racer may have displayed attributes or a stated specialty; the vehicle contributes its own behavior; and gadgets let you add stat boosts or gameplay modifiers. A 2025 TechRadar review describes gadget effects involving tricks, drifting, and items. Those examples support a general tuning strategy, not a claim that a particular gadget is Aang’s or Katara’s intended equipment.

Racer attributes

Record every label and value shown on the selection screen when the pack is live. If the game assigns a class or specialty, copy the wording exactly. Do not infer a hidden elemental effect from a character’s story powers: airbending and waterbending in Avatar fiction do not prove a gameplay modifier in a racing game.

Vehicle behavior

Keep the vehicle fixed while comparing racers. Changing from the Gliding Air to another machine at the same time as changing character makes it impossible to tell which change caused a different launch, drift, or recovery feel. You can test the included vehicle separately, but treat that as a vehicle comparison rather than evidence about a character.

Gadgets

Gadgets are the practical lever available before character-specific guidance is published. Select them according to a race behavior you can describe and measure: holding a clean drift, converting jumps into tricks, using items safely, or recovering after contact. A gadget that improves one behavior can alter another, so judge the complete lap rather than a single spectacular maneuver.

Choose a starting build by racing style

Until the game displays verified Aang and Katara data, start with a neutral vehicle and change as few variables as possible. The following profiles are test plans, not character-specific recommendations.

Handling and drift profile

Choose gadgets whose descriptions mention steering, drift control, or a related handling benefit. Use this profile if you regularly lose speed by running wide, cannot hold a corner, or prefer technical lines over maximum straight-line speed. Run several laps on a course with corners you know, then compare exit speed and the number of corrections required. Do not conclude that the profile is better because one corner felt easier; check whether the benefit survives different turns and race traffic.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Trick and jump profile

Choose a gadget that explicitly affects tricks if your route contains reliable ramps or aerial sections. Practice the same jump repeatedly, aiming for consistent landings rather than the highest possible stunt count. A trick modifier is useful only when you can trigger it without missing the landing or losing your racing line. Record successful landings and post-jump speed, not just the on-screen trick animation.

Item-focused profile

Select gadgets that mention items when your strategy depends on defensive protection, attacks, or quick use of pickups. Test the profile in races with comparable item availability. Measure whether you can use a pickup before being hit, retain protection through a dangerous section, or recover position after an attack. Do not assume an item-related gadget changes which item appears unless the game’s description explicitly says so.

Balanced profile

If you do not yet know whether you favor drifting, tricks, or items, use one broadly described gadget setup and race several courses. This establishes a baseline for both characters. Change one gadget at a time afterward; replacing the entire loadout hides which modifier helped.

A repeatable Aang-versus-Katara comparison

Once both entries are unlocked, compare them as an experiment rather than relying on first impressions. The objective is to isolate the racer variable.

  1. Record the displayed data. Write down each racer’s visible attributes, specialty label, and any stated ability description. Capture the game version and date, because a later balance patch may change a value.
  2. Fix the vehicle. Use the same vehicle for both racers. The Gliding Air is a valid first comparison because it is advertised with the pack, but a familiar vehicle can provide a cleaner baseline if you already understand its handling.
  3. Fix the gadget loadout. Equip the same gadgets in the same slots. Start with the balanced profile, then repeat the comparison with a drift, trick, or item profile if that is how you normally race.
  4. Fix the race conditions. Use the same course, lap count, mode, assist settings, starting position, and comparable opponent difficulty. Avoid comparing one character on a new course with the other on a familiar course.
  5. Run multiple races. Complete enough attempts to expose inconsistent starts, missed tricks, collisions, and item swings. A single win is not a reliable character result.
  6. Log observable outcomes. Note launch control, corner corrections, drift consistency, trick completion, recovery after contact, item use, and finish position. Separate mechanical observations from luck-based events such as an unusually favorable pickup.
  7. Repeat with the other racer. Do not change your route or risk tolerance just because the first character felt different. The comparison is useful only when your decisions remain as similar as possible.
Comparison field What to record Why it matters
Displayed attributes Every visible value and label Provides the game’s authoritative baseline for the current version.
Launch and acceleration feel Ease of recovering speed after a stop or collision Shows whether your normal starts and recovery routes suit the racer.
Cornering Corrections, drift hold, and corner-exit stability Separates a comfortable handling profile from a merely fast straight line.
Tricks Successful triggers and clean landings on the same jumps Tests whether your aerial route is repeatable.
Items How consistently you can activate and benefit from pickups Prevents one lucky item chain from deciding the conclusion.
Reliability Results across repeated races and courses A setup that works only in one situation may not fit your overall style.

Apply the setup during a race

At the start

Use the same starting input and timing for both characters while testing. If one racer appears to leave the line differently, verify the displayed attributes and repeat the start before changing gadgets. A missed start input is a driving error, not evidence of a character weakness.

Through corners

Choose a line you can repeat. If a handling gadget lets you hold a drift but causes more corrections afterward, decide based on the complete corner sequence. Keep your camera, steering sensitivity, and assist settings unchanged while comparing.

On jumps and trick sections

Commit only to tricks you can land consistently. The useful measure is the speed and position you retain after landing. If a gadget encourages a longer aerial sequence but increases missed landings, it may be unsuitable for your route even if its description sounds powerful.

When items appear

Use the item profile only if it matches your decisions. A defensive player should test whether protection is available when needed; an aggressive player should test activation timing and recovery after an attack. Keep your item choices and routes consistent across Aang and Katara so the gadget, not a different strategy, explains any change.

After contact or a mistake

Evaluate how quickly you return to your intended line. Recovery is part of effective use: a racer that feels slightly slower in a perfect lap may suit you better if it is easier to stabilize after traffic, a wall hit, or a missed landing.

Use the new pack content without drawing unsupported conclusions

The Gliding Air and Lion Turtle Island are advertised additions, but the available descriptions do not establish their handling model, track layout, shortcuts, hazards, or interaction with either character. Explore them after release, then document what you can reproduce. If you compare the two racers on Lion Turtle Island, use the same route and note whether a result depends on a particular section rather than general racer performance.

Cosmetic emotes and additional sounds can help identify that the content installed correctly, but they should not be counted as abilities or performance modifiers unless the game explicitly links them to racing mechanics.

Troubleshoot common problems

The characters do not appear

  • Verify that the Avatar Legends Pack or a qualifying Season Pass is attached to the account that owns the base game.
  • Check that the download and the latest game update finished, then restart the game.
  • Confirm platform, region, and edition compatibility.
  • Check the character-select screen again; a store page showing ownership does not always mean the content is installed.

The Season Pass is installed but the pack is missing

The Season Pass is described as unlocking crossover content as it releases, not necessarily as making every future item visible before its scheduled release. Check the release date and the platform’s add-on management page. Do not buy the base game again or erase your save while the entitlement is still being processed.

A claimed ability does not match your game

Check the game version and the exact wording on the in-game information panel. Character values, specialties, or modifiers may be version-dependent. Give priority to the current display in your copy of CrossWorlds over an undated guide or a clip recorded before launch.

Results change from race to race

Separate controllable factors from race variance. Repeat with the same vehicle, gadgets, course, settings, and route. Log collisions, missed tricks, and unusual item sequences. If the difference disappears when those events are excluded, you have learned about consistency rather than a fixed character advantage.

What a trustworthy post-release guide should contain

After the pack is playable, a responsible comparison should publish the game version, displayed attributes, stated specialty, vehicle, gadget loadout, course, settings, and number of test races. It should distinguish a menu description from an observed result and identify whether a conclusion applies to drifting, tricks, items, or general handling. Until those details are available and reproducible, the defensible advice is to tune gadgets to your own race plan and test Aang and Katara on equal terms.
