You can try Xbox’s disc-to-digital entitlement flow by inserting your Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds disc into an Xbox One or Xbox Series X with a disc drive and launching the game. If Xbox offers an entitlement claim, follow that on-screen flow. Xbox has not published confirmation that CrossWorlds is one of the supported titles, so do not assume the conversion will be available. An Xbox Series S cannot perform this process because it has no disc drive.
If no entitlement prompt appears, the Xbox Store lists a separate digital edition. That purchase is not proof of a disc-owner upgrade, a discount, or an automatic conversion.
What Xbox’s disc-to-digital feature does
Xbox describes the feature as a way for owners of certain physical Xbox games to claim a digital entitlement. Jason Ronald, Xbox’s vice president of Next Generation, summarized the process this way: “Players can claim a digital entitlement by inserting a supported disc into an Xbox One or Xbox Series X console and launching the game.”
The important word is supported. Xbox says it is starting with thousands of titles and expects to add more over time, but it also warns that not every title will be available at launch. The announcement does not provide a definitive title-by-title list that confirms Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Xbox Insiders were scheduled to begin testing the feature on August 31, 2026. The announcement does not establish that every retail console, region, or Xbox account had access immediately, so a missing prompt can reflect either title support or rollout availability.
Is Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds confirmed for conversion?
No official source reviewed for this guide confirms that the CrossWorlds Xbox disc qualifies. The practical test is the console’s own entitlement flow after you insert and launch the disc.
The Xbox Store listing marks CrossWorlds as supporting Smart Delivery and Xbox Series X|S optimization. SEGA’s Xbox support FAQ also says Smart Delivery is supported. Those labels describe how the game’s Xbox versions and save compatibility are handled; they do not establish that a physical disc carries a separate digital license.
Smart Delivery and disc-to-digital entitlement are therefore separate checks. A game can support Smart Delivery yet still be absent from the disc-entitlement program.
Hardware and account requirements
Xbox One with a disc drive
Use an Xbox One model with a functioning optical drive. The described process depends on physically inserting the game disc, so an all-digital Xbox One model cannot perform the claim.
Xbox Series X
Xbox Series X is explicitly named in the feature announcement and includes a disc drive. Insert the Xbox disc and launch the game from that console.
Xbox Series S
Series S has no disc drive. It cannot read the CrossWorlds disc and cannot start the disc-based claim process. A Series S owner would need a separately purchased digital edition unless Xbox provides another entitlement route for the account.

The disc itself
The announcement refers to supported discs. A disc that the console cannot read cannot be used to begin the flow, and Xbox’s announcement does not say that every regional pressing, bundle disc, or edition is eligible.
Before you begin: a practical checklist
- Confirm that the console is an Xbox One with a disc drive or an Xbox Series X.
- Have the physical Xbox copy of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds available and make sure the console can recognize it.
- Use the normal game-launch action after insertion; Xbox’s description does not specify a separate website code or universal redemption button.
- Be prepared for the possibility that the title, your particular disc, your region, or your rollout status is not supported.
- Keep the disc and any on-screen confirmation. Xbox says the physical disc continues to work as before, but it does not publish terms saying the disc can be transferred after a claim.
This checklist does not guarantee a claim. It only ensures that you are testing the process on the hardware and with the physical media that Xbox names.
How to try the upgrade from your disc
- Use an eligible type of console. Start on an Xbox One with a disc drive or an Xbox Series X. Do not use Series S for this test because it cannot accept a disc.
- Insert the CrossWorlds disc. Let the console recognize the disc and begin the normal game launch process.
- Launch the game. Xbox’s stated procedure specifically requires launching the game after inserting a supported disc.
- Read the current entitlement flow. If the title is included and the feature is available to your console, Xbox should present the relevant option to claim a digital entitlement. Follow the wording shown by the console rather than looking for a generic “upgrade” button described elsewhere.
- Record the result. If the console completes a claim, keep the confirmation information associated with the Xbox account you used. If it simply launches from the disc with no entitlement option, treat that as an unsuccessful eligibility check rather than as evidence that Smart Delivery has converted the license.
Xbox has not published a definitive CrossWorlds-specific menu path in the announcement, so labels and screens may change during testing and rollout. The reliable actions are inserting the supported disc and launching the game.
What the console result means
An entitlement claim appears
This is the positive result: the console is offering the digital entitlement for the disc you inserted. Complete the on-screen process and retain the disc. Xbox says the physical disc continues to work as before; its announcement does not say that you can transfer the disc and keep the entitlement permanently on the account.
Recommended Free Tools
A successful prompt is evidence for that console, account, and disc at that time. It is not evidence that every copy of CrossWorlds qualifies, nor does it establish a deadline or a permanent license rule. Keep the confirmation screen or message so you can refer to the exact terms Xbox displayed.
The game launches but no claim appears
Do not treat the Smart Delivery label as a substitute for an entitlement prompt. The most that can be concluded is that the current console flow did not offer a claim. Possible explanations include the title not being supported, the feature not yet being available to your console or account, or the particular disc not being recognized as an eligible copy. The official announcement does not identify which explanation applies to an individual missing prompt.
The disc is not recognized
The entitlement process cannot begin unless the console can read and launch the disc. Confirm that you are using a console with a drive and that the console reaches the game’s normal launch screen. If the drive cannot read the disc, resolve that disc or console problem through Xbox’s standard support channels; the disc-to-digital announcement provides no alternate redemption method.

You see a store purchase option instead
A store purchase screen is a separate digital-sale route. It should not be interpreted as confirmation that your disc qualifies or that a discount has been applied.

| Disc-based entitlement claim | Insert a supported disc into an Xbox One with a drive or Xbox Series X, then launch the game | Xbox describes a digital entitlement for supported discs | CrossWorlds eligibility, account-transfer rules, deadlines, and availability on every console or region |
| Xbox Store digital purchase | Buy the listed digital edition through the Xbox Store | A separate digital edition is listed; current price and availability are shown by the live store for your region | A free conversion, a disc-owner discount, or any connection to your physical license |
Choose the entitlement route first if you already own the disc and your console offers it. If the flow never appears, the store listing is the known alternative, but it requires a separate purchase under the store’s current regional terms.
Why Smart Delivery does not answer the question
Smart Delivery is an Xbox distribution and versioning feature. For CrossWorlds, the Xbox Store identifies Smart Delivery and Series X|S optimization, and SEGA’s support information says Smart Delivery is supported. That tells you the game can provide the appropriate Xbox version for supported hardware; it does not say that a physical disc is exchanged for a digital license.
Disc-to-digital is an additional entitlement program with its own supported-title list. Xbox’s launch caveat that some games are unavailable means you must check the console flow rather than infer eligibility from a product badge.
In practical terms, Smart Delivery answers a version question: which compatible Xbox version is supplied for the hardware. The entitlement program answers a license question: whether Xbox will associate a digital entitlement with a supported physical disc. Those questions can have different answers for the same game.

Xbox says the physical disc continues to work as before after an entitlement is claimed. The announcement does not explain whether a claimed digital entitlement remains usable if the disc is later transferred to another person, nor does it state that the entitlement is permanently detached from the physical copy. Keep the disc unless Xbox provides explicit terms for your case.
There is also no published redemption deadline, no confirmed account-licence permanence policy, and no statement that every owner receives the same result across regions. Keep any on-screen confirmation and rely on the terms shown during your own claim.

When a separate digital purchase is the only practical route
If you are playing on Series S, you cannot insert the disc, so the disc-based method is unavailable on that hardware. A separate digital purchase is the available route shown by the Xbox Store listing.
For Xbox One with a drive or Series X, a separate purchase may still be necessary when the entitlement flow does not appear. Check the live Xbox Store page for the price, edition, regional availability, and any current promotion. Those details can change and are not established by the disc-to-digital announcement.

The store listing is also the route to compare when you need access on a disc-free console. Do not assume that owning the physical copy changes the displayed price, unlocks a discount, or causes the store to recognize an automatic entitlement. Only the live listing and the console’s own claim flow can show what is available to your account.
How the Xbox rollout affects your result
The feature’s announced testing date was August 31, 2026, for Xbox Insiders. Xbox also said it was beginning with thousands of titles and adding more over time. That wording describes a staged program, not a guarantee that every game was enabled on the first day or that every player would see the same screen.
If you are testing during a limited rollout, the absence of a prompt may mean the feature has not reached your console or account. If you are testing after broader availability, it may instead indicate that the particular disc or title is unsupported. The official material reviewed here does not provide a way to distinguish those causes remotely.
A result can therefore change as the program expands without any change to the disc itself. Conversely, the existence of thousands of supported titles does not identify CrossWorlds specifically. Treat the on-console result as the most useful immediate check, while recognizing that a missing prompt is not a definitive explanation of why the claim failed.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Using Smart Delivery as proof. The store badge and SEGA’s FAQ confirm Smart Delivery support, not disc-entitlement eligibility.
- Trying on Series S. Without a disc drive, Series S cannot perform the described insertion test.
- Assuming every disc is covered. Xbox says the feature applies to supported discs and that some titles are unavailable.
- Calling a store price an upgrade offer. A listed digital edition is a separate purchase unless the console explicitly presents a claim.
- Getting rid of the disc immediately. Xbox has not published transfer or account-permanence terms for this scenario.
- Applying Nintendo Switch information to Xbox. SEGA’s platform announcements distinguish Switch upgrade arrangements from Xbox; they are not interchangeable.

Do not apply Nintendo Switch upgrade information to Xbox
SEGA’s June 9, 2025 release announcement discusses the game’s platform plans and distinguishes Nintendo Switch upgrade arrangements from Xbox. A Switch upgrade path cannot be used as evidence of an Xbox disc-to-digital entitlement. For Xbox, follow the disc insertion and launch test described by Xbox and use the Xbox Store listing only as a separate purchase route.

A quick decision guide
- You have Series S: Skip the disc test and check the Xbox Store digital edition.
- You have Xbox One with a drive or Series X: Insert the disc and launch CrossWorlds.
- An entitlement prompt appears: Complete that console flow and keep the disc until Xbox’s terms clearly state otherwise.
- No prompt appears: Do not infer conversion from Smart Delivery. Treat the title, disc, or rollout as unconfirmed and check the separate digital listing if you need a disc-free copy.
- You need the game immediately on a digital-only console: The store purchase is the established option, subject to its live regional price and availability.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds definitely qualify for Xbox disc-to-digital?
No. Xbox’s announcement does not confirm CrossWorlds in the supported-title list. Insert the disc into an Xbox One with a drive or an Xbox Series X and launch the game to see whether the console offers a claim.
Can I do this on Xbox Series S?
No. Series S has no disc drive, so it cannot read the physical disc or begin the described claim process. The Xbox Store digital edition is the available route shown for that hardware.
Does Smart Delivery automatically convert my disc?
No. Smart Delivery is listed for CrossWorlds by the Xbox Store and SEGA, but that does not prove that the disc has a digital entitlement. Look for the separate entitlement flow.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat if the game launches normally but no entitlement prompt appears?
Do not assume conversion occurred. The title, disc, console or account rollout may be unsupported, and the official announcement does not identify which explanation applies. A separate store purchase may be necessary.
Is the digital edition free for disc owners?
No free conversion or discount is established. The Xbox Store lists a separate digital edition; check its current regional price and terms.
Can I sell or give away the disc after claiming?
Do not assume so. Xbox says the physical disc continues to work, but it does not explain whether the digital entitlement remains with your account after the disc is transferred.
Is there a deadline to claim the entitlement?
No redemption deadline is established. Follow the terms shown by your console and keep any confirmation.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Will the claim work in every region and on every Xbox account?
That is not established. Xbox names supported discs and specific console types, but the announcement does not guarantee identical availability across regions, consoles or accounts.
The Bottom Line
Use an Xbox One with a disc drive or an Xbox Series X, insert the CrossWorlds disc and launch the game. Claim the entitlement only if Xbox presents it. Smart Delivery is not proof of eligibility; if no prompt appears, the Xbox Store digital edition is a separate purchase.
