Mo.Co does not use one conventional weapon-level number. In the current reworked game, “leveling a weapon” can mean three separate things: unlocking it through a Weapon Sprint, improving its battle bonuses with Upgrade Cores, or completing that weapon’s Mastery tracks. Your next step depends on which of those outcomes you want.
Use Chaos Energy for new weapon unlocks, Upgrade Cores for direct combat boosts, and Dojo, Milestone, and Elite Contract objectives for weapon-specific mastery rewards. Supercell’s current documentation does not publish a universal weapon level cap, complete core charge requirements, or percentage values for every core tier, so this guide sticks to the systems and figures that are documented.
What “leveling a weapon” means in Mo.Co
The word level is easy to misread in Mo.Co. Supercell describes each weapon as a fully equipped class with predefined skills rather than as a conventional item that gains a normal level whenever you defeat a monster. The game instead separates progression into three systems:

That distinction prevents two common mistakes: expecting ordinary monster kills to raise a hidden weapon level, and assuming that a Mastery star or a stronger core unlocks a different weapon skill. They are separate progression paths.

How to unlock a weapon with a Weapon Sprint
If you want another weapon, start with the Weapon Sprint rather than the Mastery screen. A sprint uses Chaos Energy as its progress currency. Supercell’s Resources guide says, “Earn Chaos Energy to increase your Career and Season level and progress along your Weapon Sprints!” The energy advances the selected sprint; it is not a conventional level assigned to the weapon itself.
Choose the active sprint
The relaunch notes explain that players choose from three Weapon Sprints at the start of a season. After you finish the previous sprint, another becomes available. The exact requirements and reward pool are seasonal, so the sprint shown in your client is the authority for the current season. The May 19 relaunch announcement is documented in “We are so back!”.
- Open the progression or Weapon Sprint area from the current season interface.
- Review the available sprint choices and select the weapon whose unlock path you want to advance.
- Check the sprint’s listed Chaos Energy requirement and intermediate rewards before committing your activities.
- Complete activities that award Chaos Energy. The sprint page should show your current total and remaining requirement.
- Collect the weapon when the sprint reaches its unlock reward, then equip it from the Weapons menu.
Do not treat the three choices as a permanent roster of every weapon in the game. Seasonal configuration can change, and the game may expose a different set of choices or requirements in a later season.
Where Chaos Energy comes from
Supercell lists several documented sources. You do not need a special weapon equipped to earn the energy; the activity’s reward rules determine whether it is granted.
- Expedition Jobs: Open the Expeditions menu and inspect each Job’s listed Chaos Energy. Completing the Job awards the amount shown there. The official Expeditions guide describes this menu and its rewards.
- Rift Goals: Complete the goals presented for the relevant Rift activity.
- Defeating monsters: Monster defeats can contribute Chaos Energy under the game’s current activity rules.
- Helping friendlies: Assistance objectives are another listed source.
- Daily Jobs: Check the Daily Jobs panel for available Chaos Energy rewards.
- Daily Goal Streak: Maintaining the streak provides another documented route.
The documentation does not establish a universally best farming route or a fixed energy value for every activity. Use the reward displayed in your current client instead of relying on an old checklist or a season-specific number.
How to improve combat with Upgrade Cores
Upgrade Cores are the documented direct combat upgrades. Supercell’s support article summarizes their purpose as: “Upgrade Cores provide unique boosts during battle!” You find cores by defeating monsters, put them into a weapon through the Weapons menu, and fuse cores to pursue stronger results.

Find a core
- Enter an expedition, Rift activity, or other combat activity.
- Defeat monsters and inspect the rewards that drop. Supercell notes that stronger monsters have a higher chance of dropping more powerful cores; it does not publish a guaranteed drop rate.
- Return to your inventory or Weapons menu and identify the core’s effect and charge before equipping it.
Insert a core into a weapon
- Open the Weapons menu.
- Select the weapon you want to modify.
- Choose an available core slot and select a stored Upgrade Core.
- Confirm the insertion. The core’s effect becomes active for that weapon according to the game’s current slot and charge rules.
Before confirming, match the effect to the way you actually use the weapon. A fast attacking build may value Attack Speed or Cooldown, while a defensive or support-focused setup may benefit more from Max Health, Healing, or Healing Received. Those are examples of decision-making, not a universal best-in-slot ranking; the official documentation does not provide a current ranking for every weapon and core combination.
Know the eight documented core effects

| Attack Speed | Improves how quickly attacks can be performed. |

| Healing | Improves healing produced by the relevant weapon or effect. |
| Healing Received | Improves healing received by the character. |
| Max Health | Raises maximum health according to the equipped core’s strength. |
| Dodge | Improves the documented dodge-related benefit. |
Each core type has four tiers. Higher tiers provide a more effective boost, but the support article does not provide a complete table of tier percentages or a universal numeric value for each charge.
How to fuse cores and replace an equipped core
Fusion lets you turn stored cores into a stronger core or choose a random-core outcome. The exact charge requirements and resulting values are not published as a complete numeric table, so read the confirmation screen carefully before accepting a result.
- Open your Upgrade Core inventory from the Weapons menu.
- Select the fusion option.
- Choose cores of the same type when the interface offers the stronger-core route.
- Review the resulting tier or charge shown by the game.
- Alternatively, choose the random-core outcome if you prefer a different effect and accept the displayed result.
- Confirm only after checking which input cores will be consumed and what output the interface promises.
There is an important replacement restriction. An equipped core cannot be freely removed or swapped for any lower-charge option. To replace it, use a core with higher charge. The displaced core returns to storage, so replacing it does not permanently destroy the old core. It is inaccurate to describe equipped cores as permanently lost, and it is equally inaccurate to describe them as freely removable at any time.
A safe replacement routine
- Record the effect and charge of the currently equipped core before opening the replacement screen.
- Compare the candidate core’s charge, tier, and effect rather than judging it by tier name alone.
- Confirm that the candidate satisfies the higher-charge requirement shown by the client.
- Equip the replacement and verify that the old core appears in storage.
- Keep spare cores until you know which weapon and play style you intend to develop; random fusion can produce an effect you did not plan to use.
How Weapon Mastery works
Mastery is the progression system for becoming better acquainted with a particular weapon and earning its long-term rewards. It is not the same as Chaos Energy and does not unlock the weapon’s Weapon Sprint. The official Masteries Update – Patch Notes describes three tracks.

Dojo
Dojo contains weapon-specific timed challenges. There are three difficulty levels, and each difficulty has three challenges, for nine Dojo challenges per weapon under the documented structure. Read the conditions before starting: success may depend on finishing within the time limit, dealing damage in a specified way, or meeting another weapon-specific requirement shown in the client.

Milestones
Milestones track cumulative use of the weapon. The documented examples include defeating enemies, dealing damage, and defeating bosses. These goals reward continued play rather than a single timed attempt. Open the weapon’s Mastery page to see the next threshold and its reward.
Elite Contracts
Elite Contracts award stars based on their goals and your performance. The Mastery milestones associated with this track can award Upgrade Cores, and the final milestone unlocks a Golden Weapon Shader under the documented update. Treat the star requirements shown in your client as authoritative if the contract wording changes.
Mastery rewards and persistence
Mastery can award Badges, Merch Credits, profile Metrics, Upgrade Cores, a Golden Weapon Shader, an Expert title, and mo.gold. The update states that completing every Mastery goal for a weapon earns its Expert title and mo.gold. It also states: “Mastery progress does not reset with seasons, so everything you earn stays forever.” That persistence is different from seasonal Weapon Sprint requirements, which can be reconfigured.

Which system should you use first?
Choose the system by the result you want, not by the word “level.”
If you want a new weapon
Open Weapon Sprints and build Chaos Energy. Expeditions are especially transparent because each Job displays its Chaos Energy reward before you start. Also check Rift Goals, Daily Jobs, monster defeats, friendly-assistance objectives, and your Daily Goal Streak.
If your current weapon feels weak
Work on Upgrade Cores. Defeat monsters for drops, inspect the effect and charge, insert a suitable core through Weapons, and fuse compatible stored cores when the resulting improvement is worth the materials. Remember that replacing an equipped core requires a higher-charge core.

If you want permanent completion rewards
Open the weapon’s Mastery page and work through Dojo, Milestones, and Elite Contracts. Because Mastery progress persists across seasons, this is the appropriate path for long-term completion rather than a temporary seasonal unlock.

Run activities that serve multiple objectives, then claim each reward in its own interface. A monster defeat may help with Chaos Energy and may drop a core, while repeated use of a weapon can advance Milestones. The game still records those results separately; earning a core does not automatically complete a Mastery goal, and Mastery progress does not substitute for Chaos Energy in a Weapon Sprint.
What the current documentation does not establish
Several details commonly repeated in older guides or player discussions are not established by the current official pages:
- There is no published universal per-weapon level cap in the supplied support documentation.
- There is no complete numeric table of core charges, tier percentages, or fusion costs.
- The documentation does not state a fixed drop rate for each core type or guarantee that a particular monster always drops a particular tier.
- It does not identify one best core pairing for every weapon.
- It does not establish that ordinary monster kills directly increase a conventional weapon-level number.
When the client shows a current value, use that value for your build. Do not fill missing figures with values from an older version of Mo.Co, because the reworked system and seasonal configuration can differ.

Mo.Co’s official pages describe the game as returned to beta, and the reworked guides are the best reference for the systems above. Weapon Sprint requirements and reward pools can change by season. For example, a Season 5 announcement said that no new weapons were introduced that season and identified Medicine Ball, Storm Weaver, and Pyro as entering that season’s P.E.R.K. reward pool. That was a Season 5 announcement, not a permanent rule for every season; the Japanese-language notice is available at the Season 5 update page.

Troubleshooting common progression problems
“I defeated monsters, but my weapon did not level up.”
That is expected if you are looking for a conventional weapon-level number. Check whether the defeats produced a core, contributed Chaos Energy under the activity’s rules, or advanced a Mastery Milestone. Those are the documented progression outcomes.
“My sprint is not moving.”
Open the active Weapon Sprint and verify that the activity you completed actually lists Chaos Energy. Some rewards advance a different progression system. In Expeditions, compare the Job’s listed reward with the amount awarded after completion.
“I cannot equip the core I want.”
Compare its charge with the equipped core. The replacement rule requires a higher-charge core. If it qualifies, replace the equipped core and then check storage for the displaced one.

Review whether you selected the same-type stronger-core route or the random-core outcome. The latter is intentionally not a guaranteed effect choice. Inspect the confirmation panel before each fusion and preserve spare cores when you are uncertain.
“My Mastery progress disappeared after a season change.”
The Masteries Update says Mastery progress does not reset with seasons. Reopen the weapon’s Mastery page and confirm that you are viewing the same weapon and account. Seasonal Weapon Sprint choices and rewards are separate and can change.
