Use GameSir Connect on a Windows PC to update the GameSir G7 Pro 8K. Start with the normal update while the controller is connected by USB. If GameSir Connect cannot detect or update it, use the G7 Pro 8K forced-update sequence: open GameSir Connect first, hold Logo + Menu, connect the controller by USB, and leave the update window open until it finishes. Connection failures need a mode-specific fix: wired USB, the included wireless receiver, and Bluetooth have different setup and recovery steps.
How do I update the GameSir G7 Pro 8K firmware?
GameSir directs G7 Pro 8K owners to GameSir Connect, its official PC software, for controller firmware updates. Download the current GameSir Connect release from GameSir’s official downloads page and confirm that the listing explicitly supports the G7 Pro 8K and your exact edition before installing. The downloads page showed GameSir Connect v1.14.5, listed as updated 2026-07-06, when checked for this guide. That is a dated software snapshot, not a promise that it remains the newest release.
Use a USB-C cable that carries data, not only power. During an update, connect directly to a PC USB port rather than through a hub or monitor. Do not disconnect the controller, close GameSir Connect, or put the PC to sleep until the progress window reports completion.
Standard GameSir Connect update
- On a PC, open GameSir’s official downloads page and install the current GameSir Connect version that lists the G7 Pro 8K as compatible.
- Connect the controller to the PC with a known-good USB-C data cable. GameSir’s manual states: “Connect the controller to the computer using the USB-C cable.”
- Start GameSir Connect and allow it to detect the controller.
- Review the firmware notice shown for the G7 Pro 8K. If an update is offered, start it and keep the controller connected.
- Wait for GameSir Connect to report that the update is complete. Close the application only after the completion message appears.
- Disconnect and reconnect the controller, then test the mode you normally use. If the controller is still not detected or the update repeatedly fails, use the forced-update procedure below.
What if GameSir Connect cannot update the controller?
GameSir documents a separate forced controller update for the G7 Pro 8K family. It changes the order in which the software and controller are started, so follow the sequence exactly. Do not substitute a button combination published for another GameSir model or another G7 Pro edition.

Forced controller firmware update
- Disconnect the G7 Pro 8K from the PC.
- Launch GameSir Connect on the PC and leave it open.
- On the controller, press and hold the Logo button and the Menu button together.
- While continuing to hold both buttons, connect the controller to the PC with the USB-C cable.
- When the update window appears in GameSir Connect, release the buttons if the software instructs you to do so, and let the update run.
- Do not unplug the controller or close the update window. Wait for the completion notification before reconnecting or testing it.
This forced method is specifically documented for the G7 Pro 8K family in GameSir’s Connect instructions. A sequence that works on a different GameSir controller may not put this model into update mode.
If the forced update window never appears
- Close GameSir Connect, unplug the controller, restart the PC, and repeat the sequence with GameSir Connect opened before the controller is connected.
- Use a different direct USB port on the PC, preferably one on the motherboard rather than a front-panel extension or hub.
- Replace the cable with one verified to transfer data. A cable that charges a phone can still lack data lines.
- Make sure both Logo and Menu are held before the USB plug is inserted; connecting first and pressing the buttons afterward is a different procedure.
- Do not interrupt a partially displayed update. If the software begins updating, leave it connected until it finishes.
How to update the wireless receiver firmware
The receiver has firmware separate from the controller. If the controller works over USB but the wireless receiver will not connect, update the receiver through its own recovery mode in GameSir Connect.
- Turn the controller off by holding the Logo button for five seconds.
- Unplug the wireless receiver from the PC.
- Open GameSir Connect.
- Press and hold the receiver’s pairing button while plugging the receiver into the PC.
- If GameSir Connect displays a receiver update window, keep the receiver connected and wait for the process to finish.
Do not remove the receiver while its firmware is being written. After completion, unplug it once, reconnect it, and pair the controller again if necessary.

Why won’t my GameSir G7 Pro 8K connect?
First identify the mode selected on the controller. The G7 Pro 8K has separate procedures for a USB wired connection, the included wireless receiver, and Bluetooth. A successful setup in one mode does not prove that another mode is paired or configured.

| Mode | Required hardware | Basic setup | Success indicator | Common recovery |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wired USB | USB-C data cable and a PC or other compatible host | Set the rear switch to the wired position and connect USB-C | Controller powers on and the host receives button input | Direct motherboard port, verified data cable, switch toggle, reset, then firmware update |
| Wireless receiver | Included receiver | Select Receiver mode, power on, insert receiver | Home light becomes solid | Re-enter pairing at both receiver and controller; update receiver firmware if needed |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth-capable host | Select Bluetooth mode and use the host-specific pairing sequence in the manual | The controller appears under the manual’s device name and connects | Use the controller pairing button to enter pairing again |
Receiver mode: pairing and connection failures
Normal receiver setup
- Move the controller’s rear mode switch to Receiver.
- Power on the controller.
- Insert the included receiver into the host.
- Wait for the Home light to become solid. A solid Home light is the documented indication that the receiver connection has completed.
Keep the receiver in a direct USB port while testing. If it is connected through a hub or a port with unstable power, eliminate that variable before changing firmware.
Re-enter receiver pairing on both devices
If the Home light does not become solid, pairing may have been lost at either end. Press the receiver’s pairing button and hold the controller’s pairing button to enter pairing mode again. The receiver and controller must both be placed into pairing at the same time; pressing only one button does not recreate the link.
Once the lights indicate a completed connection, test input in the intended application. If the controller works by USB but repeatedly loses receiver pairing, perform the receiver firmware recovery described earlier, then pair again.

Wired mode: power, detection, and random disconnects
A wired problem can look like a firmware problem: the controller may light up while the PC receives no input, or it may connect and disconnect repeatedly. Work through the physical connection checks before forcing another update.

Use a direct motherboard USB port
Disconnect the cable from a front-panel port, hub, dock, or monitor and connect it directly to a motherboard USB port on the PC. This removes hub power and extension-cable issues from the test. If the controller is immediately recognized in the direct port, the original port or hub is the cause rather than the controller firmware.
Verify the cable carries data
Replace the cable with one known to transfer data. Some USB-C cables provide charging only, which can produce lights without a usable controller connection. Inspect both plugs for looseness and make sure the USB-C connector is fully seated.
Toggle the rear mode switch
With the controller disconnected, move the rear mode switch to another position temporarily, then return it to the wired position and reconnect. This can clear a switch state that did not register correctly. Use the position labeled for wired operation when you resume normal use.
Reset only after the connection checks
If direct USB and a known-good data cable do not resolve the issue, use the controller reset described in the next section. GameSir also recommends a manual firmware update when these wired checks fail. Repeat the standard update first; use the forced Logo + Menu procedure if GameSir Connect still cannot complete it.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Bluetooth mode: use the host-specific instructions
The G7 Pro 8K manual separates Bluetooth setup for Windows, Nintendo Switch, Android, and Android G-Touch. Each host has its own button combination and device name. Select Bluetooth mode, then follow the combination and name printed for the intended host in the G7 Pro 8K manual.
Do not copy Bluetooth steps from another G7 Pro edition or another GameSir controller. Similar-looking models can use different combinations and advertise different names.
If Bluetooth pairing fails
- Remove an old G7 Pro 8K entry from the host’s saved Bluetooth devices if it is present but will not reconnect.
- Put the controller in Bluetooth mode.
- Use the manual’s host-specific button combination to start pairing.
- If the controller does not appear, press the controller’s pairing button to re-enter pairing mode, then scan again.
- Select the exact device name listed for that host in the manual.
Test one host at a time. A controller that is still connected to a previously paired device may not appear as available to a second host until pairing mode is entered again.
Which reset should I use?
GameSir documents two different reset actions. Choose based on the symptom: one is a power recovery, while the other removes profiles and custom settings.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Rear reset pinhole: power and unresponsive recovery
Use the rear reset pinhole when the controller cannot turn on or off normally or its buttons stop responding. This is the emergency-style reset for a controller that is frozen or stuck in an invalid power state. After it shuts down, reconnect by the intended mode and test again.
View + Menu + M: clear profiles and custom settings
The View + Menu + M combination resets profiles and custom settings. It is not a harmless connection toggle: any customized settings covered by the reset will be cleared. Use it only when you are prepared to configure those settings again, and prefer the rear pinhole first for a simple unresponsive-controller recovery.
When should I calibrate the sticks or triggers?
Calibration addresses inaccurate stick centers, drifting input, or trigger range problems. It is not a general fix for a controller that is not detected, has no power, or cannot pair. If the controller connects but an analog stick does not rest at center or a trigger does not reach its expected range, follow the stick and trigger calibration sequence in the G7 Pro 8K manual.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Complete calibration on a stable connection, with no button held unless the manual specifically requires it. If calibration fails because the controller disconnects, return to the wired, receiver, or Bluetooth troubleshooting section for that mode first.
A practical decision path
- Can the controller connect by USB? If no, use a direct motherboard port and a verified data cable, then toggle the rear switch and try the appropriate reset.
- Can GameSir Connect detect it? If yes, run the standard firmware update. If no, launch GameSir Connect first and perform the Logo + Menu forced update.
- Does USB work but the receiver fail? Re-enter pairing at both the receiver and controller. If the problem persists, run the receiver’s forced firmware update in GameSir Connect.
- Does Bluetooth fail while other modes work? Confirm Bluetooth mode, use the exact host-specific sequence and device name in the manual, remove a stale saved device, and re-enter pairing with the controller pairing button.
- Does the controller connect but behave inaccurately? Use the manual’s stick or trigger calibration, not a connection reset.
Important safeguards during firmware recovery
- Confirm that the software and instructions are for the G7 Pro 8K, not a similarly named controller.
- Use the current GameSir Connect release shown on GameSir’s official downloads page; version numbers can change after this guide was published.
- Keep the controller or receiver plugged in for the entire update.
- Use a data-capable USB cable and a direct PC port.
- Do not use the View + Menu + M reset casually because it clears profiles and custom settings.
- Do not treat a solid power light as proof of data communication; a charging-only cable can still illuminate the controller.
What success should look like
After a controller update, GameSir Connect should report completion rather than leaving an update prompt in progress. In wired mode, the host should receive button input through the direct USB connection. In receiver mode, the Home light should become solid after pairing. In Bluetooth mode, the intended host should show the G7 Pro 8K under the device name specified for that host in the manual. If only one mode fails, troubleshoot that mode instead of repeatedly resetting the entire controller.
