Update the Good Lock modules you actually use before installing a One UI update, then check Good Lock and Galaxy Store again after the system upgrade. Open Good Lock, review its installed-module and update controls, use an update-all option when it is offered, and open an individual Galaxy Store listing when a module does not update inside Good Lock. This is a sensible compatibility check, not a Samsung guarantee that every module will work on the new One UI release.
What you should do before a One UI update
Good Lock is a Samsung app that manages separate customization modules. Those modules are updated like apps rather than being permanently bundled into the phone’s operating-system update. Samsung’s Galaxy Store listing says Good Lock can receive plugin updates, and Samsung’s guide explains that additional applications can be downloaded or updated from inside Good Lock. See the Good Lock Galaxy Store listing and Samsung’s Good Lock guide for the current interface and regional availability.
- Open Good Lock before starting the One UI installation.
- Review the modules shown as installed and update the ones you use.
- Use Good Lock’s update-all control if your release provides one, or update modules individually.
- If a module still looks outdated, open its details or store page from Good Lock and check Galaxy Store for an Update button.
- Install the One UI update through the phone’s normal system-update screen.
- When the phone finishes restarting, check Good Lock and Galaxy Store again for module updates.
Button names can differ between Good Lock releases. Samsung’s listing records improvements to plugin bulk updating and update-all behavior, so follow the controls that appear on your device rather than looking for one fixed label.

A One UI release can change system interfaces, permissions, lock-screen behavior, or other components that Good Lock modules depend on. A module that worked on the previous software build can therefore need its own update. Updating first reduces the chance that you begin the operating-system upgrade with an already obsolete plugin, but it cannot eliminate compatibility problems.

Compatibility depends on the combination of the device model, Android version, One UI version, module version, and regional rollout. Samsung does not publish a universal incompatibility rate or promise that all modules will be updated on a fixed timetable. Treat the pre-update check as preparation, not as proof that every customization will survive the upgrade.
Before you start: check the conditions on your Galaxy device
Confirm that Good Lock is available
The Good Lock Galaxy Store listing describes support for Samsung devices running Android 8.0 or higher, while warning that some devices may not be supported. Samsung India likewise notes that feature and application availability varies by device and software version. Open the listing shown for your own device and region instead of assuming that every phone, tablet, module, or feature is available everywhere.
Use a reliable connection and power
Module downloads and a One UI package can be substantial. Connect to a stable Wi-Fi network if practical, charge the device, and avoid beginning the system installation while the phone is needed for an urgent call or authentication task. These are general update precautions; Samsung’s cited instructions do not require a special charging percentage or a special order beyond using the normal system-update process.
Record modules that matter to you
Make a short list of the Good Lock modules and features you actively use, such as a lock-screen layout, navigation customization, or notification behavior. This gives you a focused post-update check and prevents you from spending time diagnosing a module you never use. Do not assume that a module absent from your screen is broken: it may be unavailable for your model, software version, or region.

Step-by-step: update Good Lock modules before One UI
1. Open Good Lock and inspect installed modules
Launch Good Lock and look through its installed-module area. Identify the modules you use and note whether the app presents an update indicator, an update-all control, or an individual update action. The exact arrangement changes between releases, so use the controls visible in your version.
2. Run the available Good Lock updates
Choose update-all when it is offered and you want to update every eligible installed module. Otherwise, update the modules individually, prioritizing the ones that affect the feature you rely on most. Wait for each download and installation to complete before leaving the app. If Good Lock shows no update for a module, that means no update is being offered through that route at that moment; it does not establish that the module is permanently compatible.
3. Check the Galaxy Store listing when Good Lock does not update it
Open the module’s details or store-page option from Good Lock. Samsung’s LockStar troubleshooting instructions demonstrate the route: verify the installed version in Good Lock, select Go to store, and tap Update if Galaxy Store offers one. This is the correct next check when a module remains on an older version or Good Lock’s update control does not respond.

4. Allow the module to finish installing
After an update, reopen the module if necessary and confirm that its settings remain present. A module update may preserve settings, but the evidence does not establish that every module always does so. If a customization is important, take a quick screenshot or note its key settings before the operating-system upgrade so you can restore them accurately if the interface changes.
5. Install One UI through the normal system-update screen
Once your relevant modules are updated, use the device’s standard software-update page to download and install One UI. The official material reviewed here does not require a special Samsung-mandated order beyond this practical preparation. Do not interrupt the restart sequence, and allow the phone to complete optimization before judging whether a module works.
What to do immediately after One UI finishes
Check Good Lock first
Open Good Lock and revisit the modules you recorded. Look for a new update indicator, a changed compatibility message, or a module that is no longer listed. A module can receive an update after the operating-system release, so the absence of an update before installation is not a reason to install an unofficial package.

Check Galaxy Store as a second route
For each affected module, open its Galaxy Store listing from Good Lock and compare the installed version with the version offered there. Galaxy Store may show an update that Good Lock does not surface immediately. If no update is available, check again later; Samsung’s support guidance for a documented LockStar problem explicitly tells users to check back when the update is not yet available.

Test only the features you use
Test the saved customizations on the new One UI build: for example, unlock the phone to inspect the lock screen, open the notification shade, and use any navigation or quick-panel behavior controlled by a module. Testing targeted features is more useful than opening every module without a specific symptom to investigate.
Separate a module problem from a system problem
If a feature fails, disable the suspected module temporarily and test the underlying One UI behavior. Then check the module’s version and Samsung’s support instructions for the exact Android and One UI combination. A failure that appears only after enabling one module points toward module compatibility; a failure that remains with the module disabled may require ordinary Samsung system troubleshooting instead.
Samsung’s documented LockStar example
Samsung provides a concrete example showing why the post-update check matters. On Android 16 with One UI 8, Samsung says LockStar version 7.0.00.14 may cause the Adaptive Clock, also called Stretch Clock, feature to malfunction. Samsung identifies LockStar version 7.0.1.10 as containing the fix. The support page is Adaptive Clock (Stretch Clock) issue on Galaxy phones or tablets.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Verify that the device is running Android 16 and One UI 8.
- Open Good Lock and check the installed LockStar version.
- If it is 7.0.00.14, select Go to store from the module information.
- Install version 7.0.1.10 if Galaxy Store offers it.
- Recheck the Adaptive Clock or Stretch Clock feature after installation.
These version numbers apply to Samsung’s documented Android 16/One UI 8 case. They are not a universal minimum LockStar version for every One UI release, and they should not be applied automatically to other Good Lock modules.

If a module update is missing or a feature is broken
Good Lock shows no update
- Open the module’s Galaxy Store page from Good Lock and look for Update.
- Confirm that the module is actually installed on the device you are checking.
- Check the device’s One UI and Android versions before comparing advice from another model.
- Return later if Samsung has not yet published an update for the new software release.
The module is not listed
A missing module can reflect device, software-version, or regional availability rather than a failed installation. Compare the Good Lock listing for your own region and model. Samsung’s documentation does not provide a complete universal compatibility matrix, so do not promise that a module will appear on every Galaxy phone or tablet.
The update installs but the feature still fails
- Restart the phone once after the module update.
- Open the module and verify that the relevant setting is still enabled.
- Check for a second module update in Galaxy Store.
- Compare the installed version with Samsung’s instructions for the exact One UI release.
- Disable the module temporarily to determine whether the symptom follows the module.
For a known issue, use Samsung’s version-specific instructions rather than substituting a version number from an unrelated release. Avoid unofficial APK packages as a workaround; they are not equivalent to an update offered through Good Lock or Galaxy Store.
Good Lock features are unavailable during a beta
Samsung community guidance indicates that some Good Lock features can be temporarily unavailable during One UI beta periods while compatibility work is completed, and that module updates may roll out gradually. Community posts are secondary context, not a guaranteed rollout schedule. If you are testing beta software, expect that a module may lag behind the system release.
Comparing the available update routes
| Route | What to check | Best use | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Good Lock | Installed modules, update indicators, and update-all controls | First pass before and after One UI | Button names and visibility vary by release |
| Galaxy Store from Good Lock | Module listing, installed version, and an available Update button | When Good Lock does not update a module | An update may not yet be published for your device or region |
| Samsung support instructions | Exact Android, One UI, module, and fixed-version details | A documented feature-specific failure | Applies only to the software combination described |
| Samsung community guidance | Reports about beta compatibility or staged availability | Context when official listings have not changed | Not a promise of timing or universal behavior |
How to avoid common mistakes
- Do not treat one successful update as a guarantee. Updating before One UI is prudent, but Samsung does not promise that all module features remain compatible.
- Do not use another device’s version as your rule. Device model, region, Android version, and One UI build can change what is offered.
- Do not stop after the pre-update check. Revisit Good Lock and Galaxy Store after One UI because a compatible module may be published later.
- Do not assume “no update” means “broken.” It can mean Samsung has not released the package for your combination yet.
- Do not generalize the LockStar fix. Version 7.0.1.10 addresses the documented Android 16/One UI 8 Adaptive Clock issue; it is not a universal requirement for every release.
- Do not add unofficial packages to the troubleshooting chain. Use the official Good Lock and Galaxy Store paths and wait for Samsung’s listing when no update is offered.
Quick checklist
- Confirm Good Lock is available for your Samsung device and region.
- Open Good Lock before installing One UI.
- List the modules and features you actually use.
- Run update-all or update those modules individually.
- Use Go to store for any module that does not update in Good Lock.
- Install One UI from the phone’s normal system-update screen.
- After the restart, check Good Lock and Galaxy Store again.
- If a feature fails, record the module version and compare it with Samsung’s exact support instructions.
What the dated listings tell you
The Good Lock Galaxy Store listing showed version 3.0.16.6 on 2026-07-14. That is a listing snapshot, not a permanent version requirement for every device. Samsung India’s Good Lock guide was last updated 2026-10-01 and includes the warning that availability varies by device and software version. Samsung’s LockStar support example, retrieved on 2026-10-13, documents the Android 16/One UI 8 versions described above. Store listings and module releases can change, so use the listing presented to your device when you perform the check.
Bottom line for the update order
Yes, update the Good Lock modules you use before installing One UI when updates are available. Then install One UI normally and check again afterward. The two-stage check is the most reliable official workflow supported by Samsung’s app-management and troubleshooting guidance, while the exact result still depends on your Galaxy model, region, One UI build, and each module’s release status.
