To catch the Nekker in Monster Hunter: World, first unlock its capture bounty through the Witcher crossover assignment, then search the Ancient Forest at night and use a Capture Net when it approaches food regurgitated by Great Jagras. The timing is brief, so have the net ready before the feeding sequence begins.
Unlock the Nekker capture bounty
The Nekker capture is part of the Monster Hunter: World and The Witcher crossover. Capcom says the crossover’s Nekker α Palico armor and Cursed Staff α become available in the Smithy’s list after completing a special bounty: Capcom’s crossover announcement.

During your second conversation with the Passionate Biologist, choose “Is there anything else strange?” Game8 identifies this dialogue option as necessary for the important bounty to appear: Game8’s Nekker guide, updated November 20, 2025.

After completing the assignment, speak with the Provisions Manager in Astera or Seliana and accept the Nekker capture bounty.
Find the Nekker in the Ancient Forest
Go on an expedition or other eligible outing in the Ancient Forest at night. Game8’s guides describe the Nekker as appearing there at night and associate the encounter with Great Jagras feeding: follow Great Jagras after it eats an Aptonoth and watch where it regurgitates food (bounty and unlock guide; Nekker encounter guide).
The guides describe this trigger but do not establish that a Nekker is guaranteed to appear on every qualifying outing. If you do not see one, check that it is nighttime and keep watching the Great Jagras feeding sequence.

Equip the Capture Net before Great Jagras regurgitates food.

Watch the feeding spot for the small Nekker approaching the food.

Aim the Capture Net at the Nekker and fire as it approaches. Game8 warns that it leaves shortly after feeding, so do not wait for it to linger.

Turn in the bounty and collect its rewards
Once captured, report the Nekker bounty. Game8 lists the rewards as 800 research points, one Nekker Card (Attack), and one Nekker Card (Defense). The cards are associated with the Nekker Palico equipment.

Speak with the Provisions Manager in Astera or Seliana to receive the bounty.
No Nekker appears
Confirm that you are in the Ancient Forest at night, then watch for Great Jagras to eat an Aptonoth and regurgitate food. The available encounter guides do not say that every outing guarantees a spawn.
The Nekker disappears before you capture it
Keep the Capture Net equipped and aimed near the feeding spot before the Nekker arrives. It leaves shortly after feeding, making preparation more useful than trying to equip the net once you have spotted it.
