To unlock more of Soulmask’s map, find a Barbarian Scout camp at the edge of the fog, weaken the Barbarian Scout, use Deter rather than a normal capture, and interrogate it for map information. The interrogation uncovers a broad area around the camp and gives you a lead to a random point of interest. Simply walking into unexplored territory does not clear the fog automatically.
How Soulmask’s map reveal works
Soulmask begins with only the southwestern portion of the world visible. The rest is covered by fog of war. The intended way to expand that revealed area is to obtain information from Barbarian Scouts rather than to uncover every tile by physically walking through it.

Step-by-step: unlock the next section of the map
1. Travel toward the fog boundary
Leave the revealed southwest area and move toward the nearest edge of the fog. You do not need to search randomly across the whole world. The relevant camp is normally identified from the map once you are close enough to the boundary.

Open the map regularly as you advance. The map marker to look for is an eye icon, which indicates a scout camp. If you are still far inside already revealed territory, the icon may not be visible yet, so continue toward the unexplored edge and check again.
2. Locate the camp marked with the eye
Follow the eye marker to the camp. This is the location where the map-information interaction becomes available. Other camps or enemy groups may be nearby, but the eye-marked camp is the one associated with the reveal loop described by the available guides.

3. Identify the Barbarian Scout
Inside the camp, find the NPC named Barbarian Scout. Camp members can be fought, but the scout is the target carrying the map information. Do not finish the scout with an ordinary defeat if your goal is to reveal the map; you need the special interaction that appears after the scout has been weakened.

4. Lower the scout’s health until the special interaction is available
Attack the Barbarian Scout carefully and stop once the game allows the special interaction. A Steam player report describes the trigger as appearing at roughly 20 percent health. Treat that figure as an approximation, not a fixed game rule: the report is not an official threshold, and patches can change the value or the point at which the prompt appears.
If the prompt has not appeared, continue reducing health in small increments rather than delivering a final attack. If the scout dies, you will need to find another suitable camp and repeat the process.
5. Choose Deter instead of a normal capture
When the special interaction is available, select Deter. A normal capture does not provide the map-information result described by the guides. The choice matters because Deter is the branch that exposes the interrogation or map-information action.
6. Interrogate the scout for map information
After choosing Deter, select the interrogation option that asks for map information. Complete that interaction before leaving the camp. A successful interrogation reveals a large section surrounding the camp and points you toward a randomly selected point of interest.

The cited sources do not give a measured radius, tile count, or percentage for the revealed area. Expect a substantial local expansion, but do not treat any particular distance as guaranteed. The point-of-interest lead is also random, so two players may receive different destinations from comparable camps.
7. Confirm the reveal on your map
Open the map after the interaction finishes. The newly visible terrain should appear around the scout camp, and the game should provide a point-of-interest lead. If the fog has not changed, check that you selected Deter and completed the interrogation rather than merely defeating or capturing the NPC.

What does not unlock the map
- Walking into the fog alone: entering unexplored territory does not automatically clear the surrounding fog.
- Defeating a random camp member: the map information is tied to the Barbarian Scout, not to every hostile NPC.
- Using an ordinary capture: the documented player procedure specifically calls for Deter followed by interrogation.
- Expecting a fixed reveal size: no cited source quantifies the area, so a precise radius or percentage would be unsupported.
- Expecting the same destination every time: the interrogation supplies a random point-of-interest lead.
Practical route and combat checklist
The reveal requires a short expedition, but preparing for the interaction reduces the chance of wasting a camp. Use this checklist before approaching the eye marker:
- Keep the map open often enough to identify the eye icon as you near the fog edge.
- Note the route back to the revealed southwest region before entering the camp.
- Identify the Barbarian Scout by name before committing to a fight.
- Attack in controlled increments so the scout is weakened without being killed.
- Wait for the special interaction, then select Deter.
- Complete the interrogation and reopen the map to verify the new reveal.
You may have to fight other camp members to reach or protect the scout. Those enemies do not replace the scout’s role, so prioritise the named target and avoid using a wide attack that could kill it before the interaction appears.

Troubleshooting when the fog does not clear

How much map does one interrogation reveal?
The available guide describes the result as a large section around the camp, but it does not provide a numerical area. That means screenshots, personal reports, or third-party maps should not be used to promise a universal radius. The practical result is that one successful interrogation removes enough nearby fog to give you a meaningful next route, not that it reveals the entire world.
Because the lead is random, the value of an interrogation is twofold: it exposes local terrain and gives you a direction for continued exploration. You still need to travel through the world and repeat the scout process as additional fog boundaries become relevant.

You do not need an external website or overlay to unlock Soulmask’s map. The in-game scout interaction is the requirement. An interactive map can be useful afterward for planning routes, checking discovered locations, or tracking points of interest, but it cannot replace Deter and interrogation.
One third-party Soulmask resource, TH.GL, advertises two maps, location filters, discovery tracking, and a Windows overlay. Its pages present different database totals: one locations guide lists 221 known locations across two maps, while a companion page advertises 35,602 map locations across two maps. Those figures were shown on pages dated or crawled in 2026 and describe database coverage, not the amount of terrain revealed by one interrogation. The difference also means you should treat the counts as page-specific catalog totals rather than as a measurement of the game world.

Use an external aid only as a planning supplement. It may show locations you have not yet revealed in your save, so seeing a marker there does not mean the corresponding area has been unlocked in-game.
Version and patch caveats
The core procedure is supported by a June 2024 Dot Esports guide and a January 2025 Steam Community report. Soulmask updates can change NPC labels, interaction timing, health thresholds, or map behavior. For that reason, the approximate health point should never be treated as a guaranteed percentage, and a later patch may present the interrogation under slightly different wording.
If the eye marker, Deter option, or map result is absent after a game update, verify that you are at the correct camp and have selected the named Barbarian Scout before concluding that the mechanic has been removed. A changed prompt can still represent the same sequence: weaken the scout, choose the deterrence interaction, and request location information.
