Open Secure Folder from the Apps screen or Settings. If you have forgotten its PIN, pattern, or password, you can reset it with the Samsung account linked to the folder only if “Reset with Samsung account” was enabled before you were locked out. If that option was not enabled, Samsung does not document an account-based recovery route, and uninstalling or setting up the folder again may erase its contents.
Find Secure Folder on your Galaxy S22
Secure Folder may not be visible on your Apps screen. First, look through your apps for Secure Folder. If you do not find it, open Settings and search for “Secure Folder,” or follow the path shown for your software version and region:

- Samsung India guide: Settings > Biometrics and security > Secure Folder. Samsung’s India instructions
The labels can differ by software version and region, so use Settings search if neither path matches your S22.

Reset a forgotten Secure Folder lock
Samsung’s recovery flow depends on a setting that must have been enabled before the lockout. If available, the Forgot prompt lets you verify the Samsung account associated with Secure Folder and choose a new lock method.

- Open Secure Folder and enter a PIN, pattern, or password attempt.
- When the Forgot prompt appears, tap it. Its wording may refer to the lock type you use.
- Sign in with the Samsung account associated with that Secure Folder.
- Confirm the reset, then set a new PIN, pattern, or password.
Samsung Electronics America warns that if “Reset with Samsung account” was not activated when the security method was set, the Forgot prompt will not appear and access cannot be recovered through that flow. Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance
Why “Forgot” may be missing
The most important prerequisite is whether account reset was enabled before you lost access. Samsung Colombia says this option is disabled by default. If the prompt is absent, the account-reset route is not available under Samsung’s documented instructions. Samsung does not document a computer, USB cable, or accessory as a way to bypass the lock. Its Colombia guidance says Secure Folder content cannot be accessed, copied, or transferred by USB or Wi‑Fi Direct except through authorized actions, such as moving files from within Secure Folder.

Uninstalling is not a way to unlock or decrypt the files. Samsung’s U.S. uninstall instructions include an optional step to move media files out of Secure Folder before confirming removal, but locked-content guidance from Samsung Colombia warns that uninstalling without account reset enabled can eliminate the contents, which cannot then be recovered. Prevent another lockout
Once you can open Secure Folder, enable the reset option and make sure you can access the associated Samsung account. Samsung Colombia gives the setting path as Secure Folder > More options (three dots) > Settings > More settings > Reset with Samsung account; labels may vary on your device. Turn on “Allow reset with Samsung account” or the equivalent wording. Keep permitted backups of important files outside Secure Folder before moving them in.
