Roger Jr. is not unlockable through Tekken 8’s story mode, arcade battles, challenges, or another in-game task. He is a paid Season 3 downloadable character. In North America, Season Pass 3 holders are scheduled to receive access on Thursday, November 12, 2026. Everyone else is scheduled to receive access on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, when the character becomes generally available. Those dates are still in the future as of October 14, 2026.
You therefore need the base game on a supported platform and either Season Pass 3 or the standalone Roger Jr. DLC. Buying the base game alone does not unlock him.

Roger Jr.’s unlock status in Tekken 8
Roger Jr. is the third playable character announced for TEKKEN 8 Season 3. Bandai Namco Entertainment America announced the schedule on October 12, 2026:
“Roger Jr. will be available for TEKKEN 8 Season Pass 3 holders on Thursday, November 12th in North America, while the character will be available for all on Tuesday, November 17, 2026.”

This is a DLC release schedule, not a conventional character-unlock challenge. There is no published requirement to finish a chapter, win a number of matches, or complete a particular mode.

The practical choice is simple: buy Season Pass 3 if you want the announced early-access window and its other included content, or wait for general release and purchase Roger Jr. separately if that product is offered in your region and on your platform. Do not assume the two options will cost the same; no official comparison is available yet.

A copy of Tekken 8
The character DLC is separate from the base game. TEKKEN 8 is listed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam. A physical or digital copy of the base game is required to play Roger Jr., but the base game itself does not contain an automatic Roger Jr. unlock.

- Keep the game updated. On or after the release date, allow the platform to download any game or DLC update associated with the character. If your platform separates the pass entitlement from the character download, install both components.
- Wait for the regional access date. The announced North American early-access date is Thursday, November 12, 2026. The Japanese official site shows the same date, but the reviewed material does not publish an exact hour or a complete schedule for every region.
- Start Tekken 8 with the purchasing account signed in. If the character does not appear, close and relaunch the game after the platform has finished synchronizing the purchase.

The North American wording is the clearest qualification for the early-access claim. Players elsewhere should not infer an exact local launch time from the date alone. The Japanese site corroborates the dates, but it is not evidence that every territory will use an identical storefront schedule or release hour.

What will not unlock Roger Jr.
- Buying only the base game: the game is required, but the character is separate DLC.
- Completing story mode: no story completion requirement has been announced.
- Winning arcade, versus, or online matches: no match-count requirement has been announced.
- Completing challenges or training tasks: no in-game challenge unlock has been announced.
- Buying unrelated editions or older add-ons: only Season Pass 3 or the standalone character DLC is identified as an access route.
If a guide claims that Roger Jr. is earned through gameplay, it conflicts with the publisher’s DLC schedule.

You are outside North America
The publisher’s early-access sentence specifically qualifies November 12 for North America. The official Japanese site shows November 12 and November 17 as the corresponding dates, but it does not publish a full territory-by-territory schedule. Check your local platform store and official regional announcements rather than converting the date into an assumed launch hour.
The standalone add-on cannot be found
General availability is scheduled for November 17. The official product page confirms that individual DLCs can be bought separately, but the available information does not confirm the standalone price or storefront stock. You bought a physical copy of Tekken 8
