To unlock the next area in Break and Steal an Egg, raise your in-game Speed until you meet that area’s Speed gate. Speed is the progression requirement; cash and Pickaxe Power do not open zones. You must also complete the robbery loop: break an egg, take the hatched animal, escape the guardian, and deposit the animal at your base. If you fail to return the animal, you have not completed the run that produces income for your next upgrade.
The nine-zone route documented on October 8, 2026 ends at Galaxy. A guide published October 14, 2026 reports that the October 11 New Biome update added Planet X after Galaxy. Because that area is a newer live-service addition, check the entrance and requirement in your current server before treating it as permanent.
How area unlocking works
Each area has a Speed gate. The gate is checked when you try to enter the zone, so buying a better pickaxe or carrying more cash cannot substitute for the required Speed. Speed is trained on the treadmill and can be multiplied by equipped trails. Your practical target is the next area’s listed Speed value, not an egg’s price and not the amount of Pickaxe Power shown in your upgrade menu.

Breaking an egg and entering a zone are separate checks: Pickaxe Power affects how quickly you break the egg, while Speed determines whether you can reach the area. A fast pickaxe can shorten the breaking phase, but it cannot unlock a zone whose Speed gate you have not reached.

The four-part robbery loop
- Break: Select an egg your current pickaxe can break and use the pickaxe until it opens.
- Steal: Interact with the hatch to claim the animal.
- Escape: Run past the guardian and back toward your base without losing the animal.
- Bank: Deposit the animal at your base. Only then does it join the income loop that funds later treadmill, trail and pickaxe upgrades.
Skipping the last step is the most expensive beginner mistake. A successful hatch is not the same as a successful progression run; the animal must arrive at the base.

The thresholds rise sharply, so a player who can enter one area may still need a substantial Speed-training cycle before the next entrance opens. Treat the table as a route planner: identify the next gate, then choose upgrades that reduce the time needed to reach it and safely return with an animal.

Step-by-step route to the next area
1. Mark your base and a return landmark
Before attempting a distant egg, locate your base and choose a visible landmark along the route. Knowing the return direction matters more after you collect an animal, because the guardian can turn a straight walk into a panic retreat. A landmark also lets you test a route without risking a valuable hatch.
2. Check the next Speed gate
Use the progression chart to identify the next area in sequence. Compare your current Speed with that gate. If the entrance still rejects you, do not spend cash on a different egg expecting it to bypass the requirement; continue training Speed instead.
3. Train Speed on the treadmill
Use the treadmill at your base as the primary movement upgrade. Keep training until you can meet the next gate and still move comfortably enough to escape. Barely meeting a requirement may open the entrance but leave you vulnerable on the return trip, especially when the egg is far from your base.

4. Equip a trail, not merely buy one
Trails belong to Speed progression. Purchasing a trail does not apply its multiplier automatically: open your trail inventory and equip the trail you want to use. If your displayed Speed does not change after a purchase, the usual cause is that the trail remains unequipped.
5. Improve Pickaxe Power only when breaking is the bottleneck
Pickaxe upgrades shorten the time spent breaking an egg. They are useful when you can already reach a zone but the egg takes too long to open, or when the guardian catches you during the stationary breaking phase. They do not count toward a Speed gate, so do not replace treadmill training with pickaxe spending when the entrance is still locked.
6. Practice a safe egg-and-return route
Start with an egg you can break reliably. Note where the guardian appears, how much open space you have for the escape, and which turns lead back to the landmark. Repeat the route in a lower-risk area before carrying out the same plan in a newly unlocked zone.
7. Complete the run and deposit the animal
After the hatch, interact with the animal to steal it, then run back past the guardian and enter your base. Deposit the animal before changing zones or beginning another attempt. The deposited animal is what generates the cash used for future upgrades.
8. Repeat until the next gate is practical
Alternate treadmill sessions, trail management and safe robberies. The fastest theoretical route is not always the best route if failed escapes erase the time spent breaking eggs. Build a repeatable route first, then push for the next gate.
What to expect in each area
Forest
Forest is the starting progression area and contains the Common Rock Egg and Forest Egg. Use it to learn the complete break-steal-escape-bank cycle, locate your guardian’s patrol path and establish a landmark. It is also the safest place to test whether a new pickaxe meaningfully reduces breaking time.

Desert
Desert introduces the Uncommon Cactus Egg and Bones Egg. Once its gate is open, compare the time spent reaching an egg with the time spent breaking it. If travel is the larger portion, prioritize Speed and an equipped trail; if breaking is the larger portion, Pickaxe Power becomes the more efficient secondary upgrade.
Snowy
Snowy contains the Rare Frozen Egg and Yeti Egg. The longer route makes navigation and escape planning more important. Do not treat reaching the entrance as proof that every Snowy run is safe; rehearse the return path and bank the first successful animal before attempting a higher-value egg.
Candy
Candy adds the Epic Easter Bunny Egg, Candy Egg and Rainbow Egg. There are three listed egg choices, so use the one your pickaxe can open consistently rather than stopping at an egg that takes too long. Collection goals can make the extra egg types worthwhile, but they do not change the Speed requirement.
Swamp
Swamp contains the Legendary Gooey Egg, Tree Egg and Lake Egg. At this stage, failed long-distance runs waste more training time, so confirm your base location and escape landmark before you start breaking. A route that is slightly longer but has clear sight lines can be better than a short route that funnels you into the guardian.
Ocean
Ocean offers the Mythic Sea Stones Egg, Water Egg and Sea Egg. Use the same bottleneck test: Speed for travel and gate access, Pickaxe Power for the stationary breaking phase. If the animal is lost on the return, change the route or improve movement before simply repeating the attempt.
Hell
Hell contains the Divine Fallen Angel Egg, Angel Egg and Volcanic Egg. The high tier makes it tempting to rush the most valuable-looking egg, but a completed lower-risk run still advances your cash supply. Secure one successful deposit before optimizing for a harder egg.

Blossom
Blossom includes the Cosmic Blossom Egg, Bamboo Egg and Fortune Egg. Keep a written or mental route from the base to the egg and back; at this distance, losing orientation after the hatch is a common failure mode. Continue using trails as equipped Speed multipliers rather than assuming ownership alone changes your stat.
Galaxy
Galaxy is the final area in the nine-zone October 8 reference and contains the Secret Sun Egg, Starry Egg and Blackhole Egg. Reaching Galaxy’s entrance does not prove that the route beyond it is current, because a later update reportedly added Planet X. Check the live server before planning your next target.
Planet X
Planet X is reported as a post-Galaxy area from the October 11 New Biome update, with a recommended Speed of 100,000,000,000 and Nebula, Plasma and Supernova eggs. The available report does not state an egg rarity. Because this is a newer live snapshot rather than part of the October 8 reference, verify that the entrance is visible and that its displayed requirement matches the current server.
Speed, trails and Pickaxe Power: which upgrade matters?

Use the bottleneck that is actually costing you runs. If you cannot enter, train Speed. If you can enter but spend most of the attempt breaking, improve Pickaxe Power. If you can break the egg but cannot escape, increase movement, equip the trail multiplier and redesign the route. This three-way diagnosis prevents spending cash on an upgrade that cannot solve the current problem.

The Index helps track which eggs and animals you have collected. Check it after depositing an animal so you know whether a run filled a collection gap or duplicated something you already own. The beginner guidance also recommends merging matching pets when that system becomes available. Treat merging as a collection and progression activity separate from the Speed gate: it does not replace the treadmill requirement for a new area.
No complete hatch-probability table, universal animal-earnings table or standardized break-time table is established in the available guides. Do not infer exact odds, income per minute or seconds-to-break from the rarity labels alone. Common through Secret describes the listed tier progression, not a guaranteed drop percentage.

Why a zone may still feel locked
Your Speed is below the gate
Read the entrance requirement rather than comparing your cash balance or Pickaxe Power. Return to the treadmill and continue training until the Speed value meets the displayed gate.
Your trail is not equipped
If you bought a trail but the Speed multiplier is missing, open the trail menu and equip it. Recheck the displayed stat before making another purchase.
You are checking an outdated route
The October 8 reference lists nine zones, while the October 14 guide reports Planet X after the October 11 update. A server may display a newer entrance, a changed requirement or no Planet X entrance at all. Use the current in-game sign or gate as the final authority for what is live in your server.

You can reach the area but cannot finish the run
Unlocking the entrance is only the movement check. If the guardian catches you after the hatch, practice the route with a less demanding egg, improve Speed or change your landmark and escape line. Deposit an animal successfully before escalating to a farther zone.
The egg takes too long to break
This is a Pickaxe Power problem, not a zone-gate problem. Upgrade the pickaxe after confirming that the area is already open, and choose an egg your current tool can break reliably while you build cash.
A practical progression checklist
- Locate your base and select a return landmark.
- Identify the next area and its Speed gate.
- Train on the treadmill until the gate is met.
- Equip a trail so its Speed multiplier is active.
- Choose an egg your current pickaxe can break.
- Break the egg, steal the animal and escape the guardian.
- Deposit the animal at your base before starting another run.
- Use the Index to track new animals and merge matching pets when available.
- Upgrade Pickaxe Power only when breaking time, rather than movement, is limiting you.
- Verify newer entrances such as Planet X in the current server before relying on an older zone list.
Bottom line
Progress through Break and Steal an Egg by treating Speed as the gate and the completed robbery as the income engine. Train Speed, equip the trail multiplier, use Pickaxe Power to shorten egg breaking, and do not count a run until the animal is safely deposited at your base. Use the zone table for planning, but confirm any post-update entrance in your live server.
