There is no single switch that unlocks every decoration in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Build friendships, find crafting plans, explore puzzle areas, check My Melody’s shop after unlocking items elsewhere, and look out for event and multiplayer rewards. The right route depends on the specific piece you want, so check its listed source in the full furniture list.
Build friendships to earn furniture and crafting plans
Keep gifting residents and progressing through their quests. Friendship can unlock furniture, recipes, abilities, and other rewards, and some furniture entries are tied to a particular resident’s friendship progression. Focus on the character associated with the set or item you want, but do not assume every friendship level awards furniture.
Friendship can also lead to crafting plans. A plan is a recipe, not the finished decoration, so you will still need to make the item at a crafting bench and provide its required materials. Check the item’s listed source before deciding whether to keep pursuing friendship or switch to another route.

- Look for crafting plans. Explore the island and progress with residents; plans can be found in the world or unlocked through friendship.
- Check the plan’s requirements. Gather the materials listed for the item. Having a plan does not supply those materials or automatically add the furniture to your inventory.
- Use a crafting bench. Craft the piece once you have its plan and required materials.
Not every decoration is crafted. If a named item’s source is listed as a reward, shop item, or another route, follow that source instead of searching for a plan.

Explore hidden areas and solve puzzles for rewards
Search chests, hidden parts of the island, and puzzle rooms as you explore. The game features hidden puzzle ruins and bonus rewards, and furniture can come from different sources, including rewards. A puzzle may be worth checking, but not every puzzle contains furniture; use the item’s entry in the furniture list to identify a known route for a specific piece.
Revisit My Melody’s shop after unlocking furniture elsewhere
Some furniture is sold in My Melody’s shop, but shop stock is not a complete catalog of everything available. Some pieces must first be obtained through another route before they can enter the shop’s regular rotation. If a set is missing, keep progressing through its listed source and check the shop again later rather than assuming it is unavailable.

Watch for event rewards and multiplayer trades
Events can offer special rewards, while multiplayer provides opportunities such as trading rare items. These are additional ways to pursue particular pieces, not guaranteed immediate sources: event availability depends on the event calendar, and trading depends on social play. The game’s Steam listing describes year-round events and multiplayer bonuses, including rare-item trading.

Unlock cabins separately from collecting decorations
Cabin quests open places to decorate; they do not grant every furniture item. Completing Make Yourself At Home unlocks a personal cabin, while Friends and Family unlocks additional visitor cabins. Treat cabin access and furniture acquisition as separate goals: unlock the space you want, then pursue pieces through their individual sources.

Check the edition before pursuing expansion furniture
City Town is an expansion, not a general furniture-unlock method for the base game. Nintendo’s City Town listing says it requires the base game or Switch 2 Edition and advertises over 150 new clothing and furniture items in City Town. Verify that the expansion is available for the platform and edition you own before pursuing its items.

- Find the item in the maintained furniture list and check its stated source.
- If it is tied to a resident, build that character’s friendship and progress their quests.
- If it is craftable, find the plan, gather the listed materials, and use a crafting bench.
- If it is a reward, explore the relevant area or puzzle; if it is shop stock, revisit My Melody’s shop after unlocking the item elsewhere when applicable.
- For special or rare items, check event availability or whether multiplayer trading is an option.
Item sources, shop rotations, and event rewards can change as the game is updated. For a particular decoration, the item’s current listing is more useful than assuming all furniture follows one unlock path.
