To play Kintaro, you need the Ravenswatch base game, the free version 1.6.0 update, and the separately sold Kintaro Hero DLC. Updating the game alone does not add the hero.
The exact unlock requirements
Kintaro is not unlocked by completing a chapter, defeating a boss, reaching a level, or finishing a character challenge. He is distributed as the Kintaro Hero DLC. The practical unlock path is therefore a store purchase followed by installation on a supported copy of Ravenswatch.

Passtech Games announced the “Kintarō joins the Ravenswatch” release on October 12, 2026. The announcement separates the free update from the Hero DLC, so installing version 1.6.0 should not be treated as a free Kintaro unlock.
How to unlock Kintaro
1. Update Ravenswatch to version 1.6.0
- Open the storefront or game library for the platform on which you play Ravenswatch.
- Check for an available Ravenswatch update. On consoles, this is normally done from the game’s options menu or the system’s updates area; on Steam, the library client manages the update from the game’s properties and download queue.
- Start the download and let it finish before launching the game. A partial download, queued update, or offline launch can leave the game on an older version.
- Launch Ravenswatch and verify that the title screen or in-game version information reports 1.6.0, if the platform exposes the version number.
The update rollout named by Passtech covers Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Storefront wording and update controls can differ between console models, operating-system versions, and regional accounts, so the exact button labels may not match across platforms.

2. Confirm that you own the base game
The Kintaro add-on is not a standalone game. Steam’s listing specifically requires the Ravenswatch base game. On any platform, the account that owns or has access to the base game must be the account used to obtain and play the DLC.
- Check that Ravenswatch appears in the same library where you intend to install the add-on.
- If you use family sharing, console sharing, or a subscription catalogue, verify that the base-game entitlement is still active and that downloadable-content sharing works under that arrangement.
- Make sure you are signed in to the account that purchased the DLC. A second account on the same device may not automatically receive the entitlement.
3. Obtain the Kintaro Hero DLC
- Open the official storefront for your platform.
- Search for Kintaro Hero DLC or open Ravenswatch’s downloadable-content section.
- Check that the listing identifies Ravenswatch as the required base game and that the platform matches your copy.
- Complete the purchase, redemption, or entitlement claim shown by that storefront. The price, currency, tax treatment, and availability are not established as one universal figure and can vary by region.
- Start the DLC download if it is presented separately from the version 1.6.0 patch. Some storefronts install a small entitlement package automatically; others show downloadable content as a separate item.
4. Restart the game and select Kintaro
After the update and DLC installation finish, close and relaunch Ravenswatch. Open the hero-selection screen and look for Kintaro. If the game shows a lock or purchase prompt, do not buy the DLC a second time immediately; use the checks in the troubleshooting section below to confirm which part of the installation is missing.

The wording “update the game for free to version 1.6.0” describes how to receive the new game version. It does not state that every player receives the Kintaro character without purchasing the Hero DLC. The Steam listing’s separate DLC entry and base-game requirement reinforce that distinction.

If you install only the free patch, you can have the current game files while Kintaro remains unavailable. Conversely, purchasing the add-on without updating may leave the game unable to display the new hero correctly until version 1.6.0 is installed.
Platform-by-platform checklist
Steam
- Open the Steam library and select Ravenswatch.
- Allow Steam to download the 1.6.0 update. If the download is paused, resume it and wait for the status to show completion.
- Open the Ravenswatch store or downloadable-content listing and acquire the Kintaro Hero DLC.
- In the game’s Steam properties, check the downloadable-content area to confirm that the Kintaro item is enabled for the account.
- Launch the game from the same Steam account and check the hero roster.
Steam’s listing is the source that explicitly states the base game is required. The Steam purchase path confirms the DLC is a separate product rather than an unlock earned inside a run.
PlayStation
- Open your game library and check Ravenswatch for an available update.
- Install version 1.6.0 before troubleshooting the hero roster.
- Open the PlayStation Store entry for Ravenswatch, locate the Kintaro Hero DLC, and complete the platform’s purchase or redemption flow.
- Check the game’s add-ons or content-information screen to make sure the DLC is downloaded and installed, not merely purchased.
- Restart Ravenswatch and use the account that owns the add-on.
Passtech names PlayStation as part of the update rollout. The announcement does not establish one universal PlayStation menu path, so labels can differ between console generations and system software.

Xbox
- From the Xbox library, open Ravenswatch’s update options and install version 1.6.0.
- Use the Microsoft storefront page for Ravenswatch to find the Kintaro Hero DLC.
- After purchase or redemption, open the game’s manage-content screen and confirm the add-on is selected for installation.
- Allow the installation to complete, then fully quit and relaunch Ravenswatch.
- Check Kintaro in the hero-selection screen.
Xbox is included in Passtech’s stated update availability. Account ownership and console-sharing rules can affect whether another profile sees the add-on.

Nintendo Switch
- Highlight Ravenswatch on the HOME Menu and check for a software update, or use the console’s update command from the game’s options.
- Install version 1.6.0 and wait for the software to finish updating.
- Open the Nintendo eShop listing associated with your copy, obtain the Kintaro Hero DLC, and allow any separate download to complete.
- Launch Ravenswatch with the Nintendo Account that obtained the add-on.
- Look for Kintaro in the hero roster after the game has restarted.
Passtech lists Nintendo Switch among the platforms receiving the free update. Regional eShop listings and account permissions can change the exact purchase and download screens.
If Kintaro is still locked
Work through these checks in order. They distinguish an entitlement problem from an outdated game installation without assuming that every platform exposes the same menus.
Check the game version
Confirm that Ravenswatch actually completed the 1.6.0 update. A console may show the game as ready while a download remains queued, and Steam may defer an update until another download finishes. Close the game, complete all pending downloads, and relaunch it.

Open the platform’s downloadable-content or manage-game screen. The Kintaro item should appear as owned, installed, or otherwise available to the account that launches Ravenswatch. A purchase receipt without a completed installation can leave the hero unavailable until the add-on finishes downloading.

Check the account and edition
Use the same account for the storefront transaction and gameplay session. If the base game belongs to one account and the DLC to another, platform sharing rules determine whether the second account can use Kintaro. The official materials do not establish identical sharing behavior across Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Restart after installation
Quit Ravenswatch completely rather than leaving it suspended in the background. Relaunching forces the game to refresh its installed-content check. This is especially useful when the DLC was purchased while the game was already running.
Check the storefront region
Availability, price, and purchase steps can vary by country or storefront region. If the listing cannot be found, confirm that the store account’s region matches the platform account and that the listing is for Ravenswatch rather than an unrelated item.
Do not purchase twice immediately
If the store shows the DLC as owned but the game shows a lock, verify the install state and account before attempting another transaction. The issue may be an incomplete download, a pending licence refresh, or a game that has not been restarted.

What you do not need to unlock Kintaro
No official material identifies an in-game challenge, campaign milestone, boss victory, character level, physical game accessory, guidebook, controller, or other hardware as part of the Kintaro unlock. The relevant item is digital Hero DLC paired with the Ravenswatch base game.
That means repeatedly completing runs will not substitute for obtaining the add-on. Progression can still be useful for learning Ravenswatch, but it is not documented as a condition for making Kintaro appear in the roster.
Release timing and availability limits
Passtech’s release announcement is dated October 12, 2026 and describes the Kintaro Hero DLC as live. It names Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch for the accompanying update. Storefront availability, price, taxes, bundles, and purchase instructions can change by platform and region, and the announcement does not establish one price that applies everywhere.

Bottom line
Kintaro is unlocked by combining three things: the Ravenswatch base game, the free version 1.6.0 update, and the separately obtained Kintaro Hero DLC. The update prepares the game; the DLC supplies the hero. There is no documented gameplay challenge that replaces the DLC purchase.
