Only four of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon’s main-roster fighters are locked: Meat, Daegon, Blaze and Taven. The licensed Prima Official Game Guide says to collect relics in Konquest for the first three and finish Konquest Mode for Taven. A Daegon threshold conflict remains: Prima lists 40 relics, while GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse list 30.

The complete unlock list

The fastest reliable way to plan your unlocks is to treat Konquest Mode as the primary route. The following table separates the official-guide requirement from the two commonly consulted community references, so you can see exactly where the evidence agrees and where it does not.

Character Prima Official Game Guide Other published references What to do
Meat Collect 10 relics in Konquest Mode. GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse also list 10 relics. Collect relics until the game recognizes the listed threshold.
Daegon Collect 40 relics in Konquest Mode. GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse list 30 relics. Use the source that matches your version or continue collecting to the higher figure if you want to avoid the dispute.
Blaze Collect 50 relics in Konquest Mode. GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse also list 50 relics. Reach the shared relic threshold in Konquest.
Taven Complete Konquest Mode. GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse also say completion is required. Finish the entire Konquest campaign.

Prima’s guide describes the game as having 62 playable characters, with only these four requiring an unlock. Its wording is: “There are 62 playable characters, but only four of them need to be unlocked.” You can read the guide in the Prima Official Game Guide PDF.

What counts as “every character”

On the PlayStation 2 and Xbox editions, “every character” means the 62-character roster described by Prima. Most of those fighters are available without a special task; the four in the table are the exceptions. You do not need to complete a separate challenge for every name in the roster.

  • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

The Wii release has a different roster total: 63 playable characters because it adds Khameleon. Khameleon is a platform-specific addition, not one of the four Konquest unlocks. Therefore, a Wii player should expect one more available fighter than a PlayStation 2 or Xbox player, while still following the same four-character unlock outline. The platform distinction is documented in the Mortal Kombat: Armageddon reference entry.

Before you start: identify your version and save

Write down whether you are playing PlayStation 2, Xbox or Wii before you begin. That decision matters most if you intend to use a Krypt code, because the published lists separate entries by platform and, for Wii, by controller. It also tells you what a complete roster should look like: 62 characters on PlayStation 2 and Xbox, or 63 on Wii with Khameleon included.

Use one Konquest save for the entire process. Switching profiles or overwriting a file makes it difficult to tell whether a relic total or completion flag was actually recorded. If you are starting from an old save, inspect the roster first and note which of the four fighters are already available. Then count only the remaining progress instead of assuming the save is empty.

How the Konquest unlock route works

The licensed guide identifies Konquest Mode as the route for all four locked fighters. Three unlocks are tied to relic collection, while Taven is tied to completing the mode. Konquest is therefore the least ambiguous method because it does not depend on entering a code whose formatting can vary by platform and controller.

1. Start or resume Konquest Mode

  1. Load the edition of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon you intend to keep using.
  2. Enter Konquest Mode from the game’s main menu.
  3. If you already have a save, continue that file so your previously collected relics and campaign progress remain available.

The sources establish the required totals, but they do not provide a universal on-screen counter layout. If your version displays a relic total, use it; otherwise, keep your own written tally as you progress.

2. Track relics deliberately

Meat, Daegon and Blaze are associated with relic totals rather than with a particular stage named in the available references. Record each relic as you obtain it and mark the character for which you are working. A simple checklist prevents the most common mistake: assuming that finishing a mission automatically counts as collecting every relic connected with it.

Apple EarPods Headphones with USB-C Plug, Wired Ear Buds with Built-in Remote to Control Music, Phone Calls, and Volume
  • SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
  • HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
  • BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
  • COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
  • INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
  • Write down the number shown by the game whenever a relic is added, if your edition displays one.
  • Keep a separate note for relics you have seen but have not yet collected.
  • Do not reset or overwrite the save file before checking whether the character has appeared in the roster.
  • If your target is Daegon, note which threshold source you are following because published references disagree.

3. Check the roster after reaching a threshold

After reaching the relevant relic total, leave Konquest and inspect the character-selection screen. The purpose of this check is to confirm that the unlock registered before you continue. If the fighter is still unavailable, return to the same save and collect additional relics rather than assuming the requirement was met under a different counting method.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

4. Finish Konquest for Taven

Taven’s requirement is campaign completion, not a relic number. Continue through Konquest until the mode is finished, then verify Taven on the character-selection screen. Collecting relics alone is not described as a substitute for completing the campaign.

How many relics unlock Daegon?

This is the one point that cannot be stated as a single uncontested number. The Prima Official Game Guide lists 40 relics. GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse list 30. None of the consulted sources establishes whether the difference comes from a regional or platform edition, an error in one guide, or another condition.

Reference Daegon threshold shown How to interpret it
Prima Official Game Guide (2006) 40 relics The licensed guide’s stated requirement.
GameFAQs 30 relics A contributor-maintained reference listing a lower threshold.
Mortal Kombat Warehouse 30 relics An independent game reference that agrees with GameFAQs.

If your goal is simply to make Daegon available and you are playing without a version-specific manual, the conservative approach is to continue collecting until the higher published figure. That avoids stopping at the lower figure if your copy follows Prima’s requirement. It also gives you a clear diagnostic: if Daegon remains locked after the higher count, the issue is probably not just the 30-versus-40 discrepancy.

Alternative route: enter a Krypt code

Community reference pages document another way to obtain the four characters: enter a character code at the Krypt’s Wall 4 question-mark box. GameFAQs also separates code entries by platform and controller, including Wii-specific inputs. Mortal Kombat Warehouse lists Wall 4 codes for Meat, Daegon, Blaze and Taven.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This route needs a qualification. The Prima guide describes the four characters as Konquest unlocks; it does not confirm that a Krypt code replaces those requirements. The code lists are contributor-maintained references, so treat them as an alternative reported method rather than as a correction to the licensed guide.

Use the code method safely

  1. Open the Krypt and locate the Wall 4 question-mark box.
  2. Open the platform-appropriate code list: use the PlayStation 2 or Xbox entry for that console, and the Wii entry for a Wii controller configuration.
  3. Match the controller label exactly. Do not substitute a PlayStation, Xbox or Wii input sequence merely because the button names look similar.
  4. Enter the sequence at the question-mark box and return to character select to verify the result.
  5. If the code fails, use the Konquest route instead of repeatedly trying an input sequence from another platform.

For the actual sequences, consult the platform-labeled entries in the GameFAQs cheats and codes list and the Mortal Kombat Warehouse Krypt guide. Reproducing a code without its controller label can make a correct sequence unusable on a different edition.

Platform differences that affect your checklist

Edition Roster context Code-entry caution Unlock implication
PlayStation 2 62 fighters in the Prima roster description. Use PlayStation 2-specific Krypt inputs. Unlock Meat, Daegon, Blaze and Taven through Konquest or a compatible reported code.
Xbox 62 fighters in the Prima roster description. Use Xbox-specific Krypt inputs. Use the same Konquest requirements, while checking any code against the Xbox listing.
Wii 63 fighters because Khameleon is added. Wii controller methods are listed separately; input formatting differs. Khameleon is an extra platform character, not one of the four Konquest unlocks.

The relic and completion requirements are presented in the cited references as the general unlock structure, but code inputs are explicitly platform- and controller-sensitive. Keep those two issues separate when troubleshooting.

Konquest route versus Krypt route

Consideration Konquest progression Krypt code
Source status Stated by the 2006 licensed Prima guide. Reported by contributor-maintained GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse lists.
What you need A Konquest save, relic collection and, for Taven, campaign completion. The correct Wall 4 entry and the exact platform/controller sequence.
Best use Players who want the least ambiguous, version-independent process. Players who already have a matching code reference and want a quicker shortcut.
Main risk Missing or miscounting relics, especially when tracking Daegon. Using a sequence for another console or Wii controller configuration.

Neither method changes the roster total for your edition. A successful code should make the named fighter available, but it does not turn the Wii’s Khameleon into a Konquest reward or alter the 62-character PlayStation 2 and Xbox count.

A practical completion plan

Plan A: unlock through normal progression

  1. Choose a single save file for Konquest.
  2. Collect and record relics as you progress.
  3. Check the roster after reaching each applicable threshold.
  4. Continue Konquest to its ending so Taven’s completion requirement is satisfied.
  5. On Wii, check for Khameleon separately because that character is part of the larger platform roster rather than the four-character unlock group.

This plan minimizes uncertainty because every action is performed inside the game’s documented progression path. It is also the best choice if you cannot verify which code list matches your controller.

Plan B: use the Krypt references

  1. Identify your console and controller before opening a code list.
  2. Use Wall 4’s question-mark box as the entry point.
  3. Enter only the sequence labeled for your platform.
  4. Verify each character in the roster before moving to the next code.
  5. If an entry fails, stop mixing code sets and switch to Konquest.

This plan is faster when the correct listing works, but it carries more risk of an input mismatch because the available references are community-maintained and the Wii has distinct control instructions.

Troubleshooting when a character stays locked

The relic count appears high enough, but nothing changed

  • Confirm that the items were collected relics, not merely locations or objectives you visited.
  • Return to the character-select screen after saving or leaving Konquest so the game has a chance to register the progress.
  • For Daegon, remember that the published threshold is disputed; continue to the higher listed figure before treating the save as faulty.
  • Make sure you are checking the same profile or save file on which the relics were collected.

Taven is still unavailable

  • Relic collection does not replace the stated completion requirement.
  • Resume the Konquest save and finish the campaign rather than stopping after a relic milestone.
  • After the ending or completion state, return to character select and verify the roster.

A Krypt code does not work

  • Check the console and controller heading next to the sequence.
  • Use the Wall 4 question-mark box, not a different Krypt location.
  • Do not assume a code listed for one platform translates button-for-button to another.
  • If the sequence still fails, use Konquest, which is the unlock path described by the licensed guide.

You expected a fifth Konquest character on Wii

Khameleon explains the extra Wii roster slot. The Wii edition is documented with 63 playable characters, while PlayStation 2 and Xbox are described with 62. Khameleon is an edition-specific addition, not a character earned by reaching another relic milestone, so do not keep replaying Konquest looking for a separate Khameleon unlock condition.

What the sources establish—and what they do not

The strongest single reference for the core unlock table is the 2006 Prima Official Game Guide, which identifies itself as the official guide and states that only four of the 62 characters require unlocking. GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse independently agree on Meat, Blaze and Taven, while disagreeing with Prima only on Daegon’s relic total. Their code pages are useful practical references, but they are contributor-maintained rather than confirmation from the licensed guide.

No consulted source resolves why Daegon appears with two different thresholds. It is therefore more accurate to present both figures, identify each source, and explain the conservative workaround than to claim that one number is universally correct. Likewise, Khameleon’s inclusion belongs to the Wii roster distinction and should not be described as a fifth Konquest unlock.

Quick checklist

  • Meat: collect 10 relics according to Prima, GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse.
  • Daegon: Prima lists 40 relics; GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse list 30. Use 40 as the conservative fallback.
  • Blaze: collect 50 relics.
  • Taven: complete Konquest Mode.
  • PlayStation 2 and Xbox: expect the 62-character roster described by Prima.
  • Wii: expect 63 characters because Khameleon is included separately.
  • Codes: use Wall 4 and preserve the platform/controller label from the listing.
  • After every milestone, return to character select and verify that the unlock registered.

Frequently asked questions

How do you unlock characters in Armageddon?
Use Konquest Mode. Collect 10 relics for Meat, 50 for Blaze, and the published Daegon threshold for your reference—40 in Prima, or 30 in GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse. Finish Konquest to unlock Taven.

How many relics unlock Daegon?
There is no single agreed figure in the listed references. Prima Games’ 2006 guide says 40; GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse say 30. Continue to 40 if you want the safest version-agnostic test.

Is Taven unlocked by collecting relics?
No. The documented requirement is completing Konquest Mode. Relic milestones for the other fighters are not presented as a substitute for finishing the campaign.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Are Meat, Daegon, Blaze and Taven the only locked fighters?
They are the four locked characters identified by the Prima guide for its 62-character roster. Wii has a 63-character roster because Khameleon is added as a platform-specific character, not as another one of the four Konquest unlocks.

Can I unlock them without playing Konquest?
GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse report Krypt codes entered at Wall 4’s question-mark box. Because those are contributed lists and the Prima guide presents Konquest as the unlock route, treat codes as an alternative reported method and match the exact platform and controller.

Why did a code work for someone else but not me?
PlayStation 2, Xbox and Wii entries use different controller labels, and Wii listings can distinguish controller configurations. A sequence copied without its platform heading may be correct for another edition but unusable on yours.

Does the Wii version require an extra Konquest challenge?
No extra Konquest requirement is established for Khameleon. The documented difference is roster size: 63 on Wii versus 62 on PlayStation 2 and Xbox.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What should I do if Daegon is still locked at 30 relics?
Keep the same save and continue collecting to 40. That covers Prima’s higher published threshold and removes the principal discrepancy before you investigate save or counting problems.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the fastest legitimate way to unlock every character?

Use one Konquest save, collect relics for Meat, Daegon and Blaze, and finish the campaign for Taven. This follows the route identified by the 2006 Prima Official Game Guide and avoids platform-specific code input.

What are the exact relic requirements?

Meat requires 10 and Blaze requires 50 in all three listed references. Daegon is disputed: Prima lists 40, while GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse list 30. Taven requires completing Konquest rather than reaching a relic total.

Does Mortal Kombat: Armageddon have 62 or 63 characters?

PlayStation 2 and Xbox are described with 62 playable characters. The Wii edition has 63 because it adds Khameleon. Khameleon is not one of the four Konquest unlocks.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Where are the reported character codes entered?

The community code lists direct players to the Krypt’s Wall 4 question-mark box. Use the entry labeled for your exact console and controller, then verify the result on the character-select screen.

The Bottom Line

Unlock Meat with 10 relics, Blaze with 50, and Taven by completing Konquest. Daegon is the exception in the documentation: Prima lists 40 relics, while GameFAQs and Mortal Kombat Warehouse list 30, so collecting 40 is the safest fallback. Krypt Wall 4 codes are reported alternatives, but they must match your platform and controller. On Wii, Khameleon raises the roster to 63; PlayStation 2 and Xbox have 62.
