DLC fighters in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves are paid add-ons, not characters unlocked by completing a challenge. Buy the Season Pass that contains the fighter, or buy that fighter separately when your platform’s storefront offers an individual listing. The Standard Edition includes only the base game, and SNK says network access is required to use all content.
What “unlocking” a DLC fighter means
There is no established story, arcade, level, or challenge requirement for the downloadable fighters listed by SNK. Access is tied to ownership of paid downloadable content. You must have the base game on the same platform account, purchase the relevant Season Pass or individual character, install the content, and connect the game to the network.
A Season Pass is a bundle of fighters planned for one content season. It is not the same thing as the base game. If you own only the Standard Edition, the paid characters are not included automatically. If you buy a bundle edition, check its exact contents because the edition names cover different combinations of passes and platforms.

SNK has also changed the way some characters are sold. Its Season 3 announcement says that “DLC characters that were previously Season Pass exclusives are now available for individual purchase (check storefront listings for applicable characters).” That qualification matters: individual availability can differ by character and storefront, so do not assume that every fighter can be bought separately everywhere.

Season Pass fighter list
Use the season map to identify which purchase contains the fighter you want. The names below reflect SNK’s listed Season Pass rosters; Season 3 has an additional release-status qualification explained later.

Season Pass 3 requires particular care. SNK’s official product information viewed in October also lists additional guest names and another mystery slot, while the July announcement lists a different set of unreleased fighters. Those listings do not match perfectly. Treat unreleased names in older announcements as provisional and use the current platform storefront or SNK product listing before paying.
Step-by-step: buy and install the fighter
- Confirm the platform account. Identify the PlayStation, Xbox, or PC account that owns your copy of the base game. DLC entitlements are purchased through that platform’s store, so buying on a different account or platform may not grant access where you play.
- Check that you own the base game. The Standard Edition is the base game only. A Season Pass or individual fighter is paid additional content; it is not a replacement for the game itself.
- Identify the fighter’s season. Match the character against the Season Pass 1, 2, or 3 table above. This prevents buying the wrong pass simply because the character is associated with a different announcement or edition.
- Open your platform’s current store listing. Search for the fighter’s name and the relevant Season Pass. Look for the inclusion list, platform, edition, and release status. SNK confirms individual purchases for applicable characters, but the storefront determines whether that option is currently shown for your character and region.
- Choose the purchase that covers your need. A pass is the broad option when you want several fighters or future characters in that season. An individual DLC listing can be the better fit when you want only one character and that listing is available.
- Complete the purchase and install the add-on. Use the platform’s normal download or add-on installation process. The exact button labels vary by platform and are not specified in SNK’s product information, so follow the store’s current prompts rather than an older guide.
- Connect the game to the network. SNK states that network access is required to use all content. Launch the game while connected so the platform and game can recognize the entitlement and deliver the downloadable content.
After installation, the fighter should be available through the game’s normal character-selection and versus modes. SNK’s published information does not specify a separate in-game challenge or a special character-select procedure, so do not wait for a hidden unlock mission.
Which edition includes which fighters?
Edition names are not interchangeable. The following is the combination described in SNK’s product information.

SNK announced the Legend Edition in January 2026 as a base-game bundle with Seasons 1 and 2 and initially listed a price of $49.99. That was an announced price at the time, not a permanent current price. Store prices, regional taxes, discounts, and edition availability can change, so use the live listing when deciding whether a bundle is cheaper for you.
The physical Special Edition is especially relevant to someone who needs both the game and the first season. It is not a substitute for a digital Season Pass 2 or Season Pass 3 purchase. Conversely, someone who already owns the Standard Edition generally needs only the missing pass or fighter add-on rather than buying the game again. Read the product title carefully: “edition,” “season pass,” and “character add-on” describe different kinds of entitlements.

The right purchase depends on how many characters you want and what your storefront displays.

The available information does not establish one universal price comparison across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. A pass may cover more fighters, but an individual purchase can avoid paying for characters you will never use. Make the comparison using the live store’s total price, included roster, platform compatibility, and whether the base game is part of the package.

Also compare timing. A pass can be useful if you expect to play several characters released during that season, while an individual listing limits your purchase to the fighter you actually want. Do not assume that a pass purchased after a character launches has the same price or promotional terms as it did at announcement. The storefront’s checkout total is the only reliable current cost, and regional currency, tax, sales, and platform policies can change that total.
What you need on each purchase path
Already own the base game
Find the Season Pass or character add-on under the same platform account that owns the game. If a pass is already in your library, do not purchase it again; look for the individual fighter’s listing or the pass’s included-content page. The game still needs network access for all content, according to SNK.
Buying the game and DLC together
A bundle edition can be simpler when you are starting from scratch. The Digital Legend Edition is described with Seasons 1 and 2, the Revenge Edition with Seasons 1–3, and the physical Special Edition for PS4/PS5 with Season Pass 1. Read the exact platform and format description before checkout because these packages do not contain the same passes.

Switching platforms
Check the store tied to the platform where you intend to play. No official cross-platform DLC entitlement is established here, so do not assume that a pass bought on one platform automatically carries to another. Confirm ownership and compatibility in that platform’s listing before purchasing.
Buying for a different console generation
The physical Special Edition listing specifically covers PS4 and PS5. Other editions may be digital or platform-specific. Before paying, confirm whether the listing is for your console generation, PC storefront, or account region. A familiar edition name does not guarantee identical contents on every platform.
How to compare the real cost
There is no single official price that applies to every platform and country. Compare the final store price rather than an old announcement, and include taxes or regional fees shown at checkout. Then compare what you receive: number of fighters, whether future season content is included, and whether the base game is part of the package.
- Base game owner: compare the price of the needed pass with the individual character listing, if available.
- New player: compare Standard Edition plus separate passes against a bundle such as Legend or Revenge.
- Physical buyer: confirm that the Special Edition really includes the PS4/PS5 base game and Season Pass 1, then price any later seasons separately.
- Season 3 buyer: verify which announced fighters have actually launched and whether mystery slots are included before treating the pass as complete.
Do not buy a second copy of the base game merely because a bundle advertises a lower combined price unless the arithmetic and included seasons make sense for your account. Conversely, a pass-only listing will not help someone who has not purchased the game.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Expecting a gameplay unlock
Completing story chapters, winning matches, or reaching a rank is not an established method for obtaining these DLC fighters. The documented route is paid ownership through a pass or an applicable individual listing.

Buying a pass without the base game
A Season Pass supplies additional characters; it does not automatically include the base game unless the product is explicitly an edition bundle. Standard Edition owners have the game but must buy paid add-ons separately. New buyers should verify whether they are viewing a standalone pass or a game-plus-pass edition.
Assuming every character is sold separately
SNK’s individual-purchase statement is qualified by “applicable characters” and storefront listings. Search the current store page for the exact fighter. If only a pass appears, that is the purchase route shown for your storefront at that time.
Trusting an outdated Season 3 roster
Season 3 announcements and product information have not listed exactly the same unreleased names. Release schedules and mystery-character labels can change. Verify the current roster and release status in the live listing instead of relying on a launch article or an old bundle description.

SNK says network access is required to use all content. If you have completed the purchase but the game does not recognize the fighter, first make sure the game is connected and that you launched it on the purchasing account. The published material does not provide a universal entitlement-restoration menu path, so platform-specific recovery steps should come from the platform’s current support instructions.
Buying on the wrong account or platform
Store purchases are associated with the account and platform used at checkout. Check those details before confirming payment, particularly on a shared console or when moving from console to PC. Do not treat ownership of the game on one platform as proof that the DLC is owned elsewhere.
Confusing announced content with released content
A character named in a season announcement may still have a future release date. Look for the live listing’s availability status and included-content description. This is especially important for Season Pass 3, whose announcements include scheduled and mystery fighters.
A practical decision checklist
- Do I own the base game on the account and platform where I will play?
- Which season contains the fighter: 1, 2, or 3?
- Does the current store page show the fighter as an individual purchase?
- If I am buying a pass, does its inclusion list contain the character I want?
- If I am buying an edition, does it include the base game as well as the required season?
- Is the edition digital or physical, and is it compatible with my console generation or PC platform?
- Am I using a current price and roster rather than an older announcement?
- Can the game connect to the network after installation?
- Have I checked whether I already own the pass or character on this account?
- Am I paying for duplicate seasons in a bundle when a smaller add-on would be enough?

Because SNK’s July announcement and later product information differ for unreleased names, use the current storefront to confirm which characters have launched and which purchase options are active.
In every case, the documented “unlock” is a paid entitlement: own the base game, purchase the season pass or available individual fighter, install it, and play while connected to the network.
