Open Timeline of Fate, choose Mortal Flames, Eternal Change, and enter Episode 11, Flames that Devour the Ages. The September 23, 2026 update notice explicitly says Episode 11 can be played without clearing earlier episodes. Episode 12, A Sun That Shines Eternal, was added on October 7, but that notice does not state its exact progression requirement. If the game asks for an episode download, let it finish before trying to enter the content.
Where to find Mortal Flames, Eternal Change
Mortal Flames, Eternal Change is a chapter inside CookieRun: Kingdom’s Timeline of Fate. The new content is not opened from a separate event menu or an external webpage. Use the Timeline of Fate chapter list in the game client, then select the episode you want to play.

How to unlock Episode 11
Episode 11 is the part of Mortal Flames with a clearly stated progression exception. Follow these steps:

- Select the chapter Mortal Flames, Eternal Change.
- Choose Episode 11, Flames that Devour the Ages.
- If the client displays a partial-download prompt, start the download and wait until it reaches completion.
- Enter the episode after the assets and voice data have finished downloading.
You do not need to clear the earlier Timeline of Fate episodes to begin Episode 11. The September 23 update notice states: You can play Mortal Flames, Eternal Change Ep.11, Flames that Devour the Ages, without clearing previous episodes.
This is an explicit exception to the progression assumption many players would otherwise make.

What “without clearing previous episodes” means
The statement applies to the requirement to clear earlier episodes. It does not promise that every account will show an identical screen immediately: the game may still need to download episode files, and your client must be able to display the Timeline of Fate chapter. Treat the no-previous-clear requirement as the documented Episode 11 gate, not as a guarantee that no loading or storage step will appear.
How to access Episode 12
Episode 12, A Sun That Shines Eternal, was added to Mortal Flames in the October 7, 2026 update. To check it:

- Open Mortal Flames, Eternal Change.
- Look for Episode 12, A Sun That Shines Eternal.
- Select it if the episode is available on your chapter screen.
- Complete any download the client requests before entering.
The October 7 notice confirms the episode’s addition but does not document a specific unlock prerequisite. It does not say that clearing Episode 11 is required, and it does not say that Episode 12 is automatically open on every account. If Episode 12 is locked, use the requirement or prompt shown in your in-game Timeline of Fate screen rather than relying on an assumed gate.

What to do when the game asks for a download
A download prompt is part of accessing the new episode content, not evidence that the chapter is unavailable. The September 23 notice says the episode becomes available after the required content finishes downloading. The download can include episode assets and voice data.

- Wait for completion: Do not try to enter the episode while the partial download is still in progress. The content is available after the download completes.
- Use Wi-Fi when possible: The notice warns that data charges may apply when you download over a mobile connection.
- Check free storage: If your device is low on space, the episode files may not be able to finish downloading. Free enough storage for the client to complete its own download process.
- Stay in the download flow: Other areas cannot be accessed during the download, according to the update notice. This is expected while the episode data is being installed.
A practical download checklist
- Confirm that you are inside Timeline of Fate > Mortal Flames, Eternal Change, rather than another chapter.
- Read the prompt to determine whether the client is downloading episode assets, voice data, or both.
- If mobile-data use matters, switch to Wi-Fi before starting.
- Check the device’s available storage if the download cannot proceed or the device reports low space.
- Allow the download to reach completion, then return to the episode entry and try again.
How to tell that you reached the new stages
The episode effects provide useful in-game identifiers. They do not replace the chapter and episode names, but they can help confirm that you are in the expected Mortal Flames content.

In Episode 12, the update description says Seed of Change cleanses the Flame of Annihilation and Flame of Mortality debuffs from allies and restores HP. Seeing these named effects at their documented starting stages is a useful way to distinguish the new episode mechanics from unrelated Timeline of Fate content.

Troubleshooting by symptom
Episode 11 is not visible
- Open the chapter list again and verify that you selected Mortal Flames, Eternal Change, not just the broader Timeline of Fate menu.
- Look specifically for Flames that Devour the Ages, the Episode 11 title.
- If the game presents a download prompt, complete it before judging the episode to be unavailable.
- Check device storage if the download stops or cannot begin.
Clearing earlier episodes should not be necessary for Episode 11 under the September 23 notice. If the screen still does not match these steps, follow the current prompt displayed by the game client; the notice’s exception concerns the prior-episode clear requirement, not every possible client-state issue.

- Wait for both episode assets and voice data to finish if both are listed.
- Use Wi-Fi if you started on mobile data and want to avoid additional carrier charges.
- Verify that the device has enough free storage for the client’s download.
- Do not attempt to switch to another area while the download is running; the notice says other areas cannot be accessed during this process.
Episode 12 is locked
The October 7 notice confirms that A Sun That Shines Eternal was added but does not publish its exact progression gate. Therefore, there is no documented basis for claiming that Episode 11 must be cleared, that all earlier Timeline of Fate episodes are mandatory, or that a particular account level is required. Check the Timeline of Fate entry and any requirement text currently shown by your client. If the game gives no explanation, the available notice does not resolve the gate.

The stage effects do not match
Use the episode title first. The named starting points are wayfinding details: Episode 11’s Flame of Annihilation land rule and Seed of Change begin at Faint Scent of Jasmine; Episode 12’s Flame of Annihilation and Seed of Change begin at Silent Outcry, while Flame of Mortality begins at The Pulse of Change. A different stage name does not, by itself, establish that the episode is locked or that the download failed.

Follow the current in-game Timeline of Fate prompt for Episode 12 instead of treating the Episode 11 exception as a blanket rule for the entire Mortal Flames chapter.
