As of October 13, 2026 (UTC), Aang and Katara are not yet playable. SEGA has announced the paid Avatar Legends Pack for October 14, 2026. To use either racer, you will need Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds plus the Avatar Legends Pack or a Season Pass that includes it. The announced pack also contains the Gliding Air machine and Lion Turtle Island course.
When Aang and Katara become available
SEGA announced on October 8, 2026 that the Avatar Legends Pack is scheduled to release on October 14, 2026. That is an announced release date, not proof that the content has already launched on every platform or in every region. At the October 13 UTC research time, the pack had not yet become available for play.
SEGA’s announcement describes the release as paid downloadable content (DLC). Until the release window opens on your platform, Aang and Katara will not be selectable, and buying the base game alone will not unlock them. Check your platform’s live store listing on or after October 14 for the actual availability and any regional timing shown there.

What you must own
There are two essential requirements:
- The base game: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds must be owned on the same platform account on which you purchase or redeem the downloadable content. Steam’s listing explicitly says the Season Pass requires the base game.
- Entitlement to the Avatar Legends Pack: obtain the pack itself when your store offers it, or use a Season Pass that contains it.
SEGA says its Season Pass unlocks crossover characters, courses and machines as they are released. The company’s purchase guide also says the Digital Deluxe Edition includes the Season Pass. Steam independently lists the Avatar Legends content as part of the pass and states that the base game is required. You can compare the editions and pass contents in SEGA’s official purchase guide and confirm the Steam requirement on the Steam Season Pass listing.
Choosing an access route
The best purchase path depends on whether you already own the game and whether you want the other crossover content delivered through the pass.

SEGA’s guide indicates that collaboration DLC can be bought separately, but the precise separate-purchase listing is platform- and region-dependent. Prices, release timing and whether a store shows the individual pack or only a bundle can change, so use the current first-party store page for your account’s country rather than relying on an old listing.

What the Avatar Legends Pack includes
The announced contents are:
- Aang: a playable racer.
- Katara: a playable racer.
- Gliding Air: a machine included with the collaboration.
- Lion Turtle Island: a course included with the collaboration.
The Xbox store’s Season Pass description also lists Aang and Katara among the Avatar Legends characters and includes the collaboration content. You can check that platform’s listing at the Xbox Season Pass page. The available official descriptions identify the characters, machine and course, but do not publish detailed racer statistics, special abilities or handling values. Do not assume that either character has a particular passive, item or vehicle bonus until an official post-release description confirms it.
How to get the content when it releases
The sources available before launch do not document a game-menu installation path. The following process avoids assuming an unverified menu name while still giving you a reliable way to claim the entitlement.
- Check the date and your region. On October 14, 2026, open the official store for your platform and verify whether Avatar Legends is marked available. A listing can appear at a different local time or date from the UTC announcement.
- Confirm that the base game is attached to the same account. The Season Pass listing on Steam requires Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. On any platform, the DLC must be associated with the account and platform family where you play.
- Select your purchase route. If you own the base game, choose the Avatar Legends Pack or the Season Pass shown by your store. If you are buying the game for the first time, compare the Digital Deluxe Edition with the standard edition plus a separate pass or pack.
- Complete the purchase or redeem the entitlement. Use only the platform store’s normal checkout or redemption flow. Keep the receipt or order record in case the entitlement does not appear after launch.
- Install the downloadable content. Your platform may queue the pack automatically or present it as a separate downloadable item. Follow the store or system prompt that appears; the consulted official pages do not specify a universal in-game installation screen.
- Start the game after the download finishes. Allow any update to complete before checking for the new content. If the game was already running during the purchase, close and relaunch it so the account entitlement can be checked again.
- Use the post-release instructions for selection. SEGA’s pre-release pages do not state which in-game menu selects Aang or Katara. Once the pack is live, follow the character-selection directions in an official support post or the game’s own released instructions rather than relying on a guessed menu path.
If you already own the game
Buying only the Avatar Legends Pack
This is the narrowest route for an existing player who wants Aang and Katara without committing to the rest of the Season Pass. Search your platform’s store for the exact pack name after the announced release date, check that the product is compatible with your edition and region, and confirm that the listing names Aang and Katara before purchasing. A separate pack may not appear until the local storefront reaches its release time.

Using the Season Pass
If you already have the Season Pass, SEGA says it unlocks crossover characters, courses and machines when they come out. The Avatar Legends Pack is one of those announced crossover releases. You should not need to buy the same content a second time, but the pass still depends on ownership of the base game. If the pack does not appear after release, verify that you are signed into the account that owns the pass and that the DLC download or license refresh has completed.

If you are buying Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds now
Digital Deluxe Edition
SEGA identifies the Digital Deluxe Edition as including the Season Pass. For a new player who wants the game and multiple crossover releases, this can be a simpler purchase than buying the standard game and adding the pass afterward. Store contents can differ by platform, so read the current edition description and confirm that “Season Pass” is explicitly included before checkout.
Standard edition with an add-on
A standard physical or digital edition gives you the base game, but the Avatar Legends Pack is paid DLC. Add the individual pack or the Season Pass through the same platform account. A physical copy’s disc or cartridge does not automatically include a later digital collaboration unless the packaging or store listing specifically says so.

Why Aang or Katara might not appear
You are checking before the release window
Before October 14, 2026, the absence of both characters is expected. The announcement date is scheduled, not a statement that the DLC is already active worldwide. Wait for your regional store to mark the content available.
You own the pass but not the base game
The pass is an add-on, not a standalone game. Steam explicitly requires Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Install or launch the base game on the account that owns the pass.

The purchase is tied to a different account or platform
Digital licenses are normally tied to the storefront account and platform family that sold them. Check the account currently signed in, the edition you purchased and the store region. A purchase made in another storefront may not be recognized by the installation you are using.

The store shows the purchase but the game does not
Finish every pending system download, restart the game and check for a game update. If your platform provides a downloadable-content or license-management screen, confirm that the Avatar item is installed or available to install. Do not buy it again until the platform’s order history and the publisher’s support instructions have been checked.
You can see the DLC but not a selection option
The consulted official pages do not identify the character-selection menu or say whether a separate in-game unlock action is required. After the pack is released, use the game’s current instructions or an official support article for that exact step. The pre-release material confirms entitlement and included content, not the final user-interface path.

The paid pack is announced to contain Aang, Katara, Gliding Air and Lion Turtle Island; platform store listings remain the authority for your region’s availability and purchase options.
